Very important lesson I learned today, NEVER put the pump at the bottom of the pond. We recently installed a pond last weekend and this morning it was completely empty of water and my fish were laying on the bottom with no water flapping!! I guess something happened and my water got redirected and started pumping out of the pond. I refilled it and luckily my fish are still alive and swimming normally. So the lesson learned is suspend the pump just a few inches in the water in case this happens it can’t empty the pond.
That's actually really good advice. The odds of that happening are slim, but taking your advice would earn a pond builder a notch on their _Preparedness Badge._
This is wonderful teamwork and brings back memories when I built mine first one and it popped out 2x as I had not allowed for pond to lift but did learn and provided a drain after the viaskos. Now I have added others to it but it is a hobby and I stay home a lot more. Richard in Australia no ice here!
I tried this, l can tell you it is not as easy as it looks here :) l did it but it took me about 35 hours. And it looks good. Still have to put the plants though. Thanks!
Fine job and good to work with help and company. I had to do it on my own and am hooked on it but have 3 ponds with a waterfall and small connecting water run to circulate and now I am at the end stage. Wish I could show You but I need good weather and more plants yet.
I did this took me about 3 weekends on back breaking work, especially when you discover an old path right where you intend the pond to be. Recommend testing the area first with some steel rods.
A pond is a lot of work that nobody told me about...they turn green on hot days, waterfalls leak, raccoons eat the fish....it was fun for a couple years, then I removed it all...sometimes I miss it but I get over that feeling quickly.
I have a question how does this type of ponds deal with cold weathers and ice? We r from PA, temperature can drop 15 degrees below zero Celsius during winter time
I have an old pro installed liner pond. 2 levels for fall. One of our issues, and it is going on today, is a heavy rain will cause water to lift the liner (and it previously lifted a cast pond, as you have) This pushes water out of pond and when liner is let down pond is near m/t. Too many leaks over years and deciding how to leave something behind of a water feature. I am now at a 900 gal pond. Kind of sick of it now that I am old.🦇
I like this Video and is very well done! Must be from UK? Have noticed You did not install a drain first. Mine popped out 2x and I learned slow. Now all is well. No need to drill into Pond but have AGI Pipe put in first. All else is so well explained and should give pleasures for a long time!
I think this is a North American video. But l suppose some garden centre will have it. I have seen something similar at the garden place on the main road in South Ockendon, Essex.
This looks brilliant for wildlife ponds, cos of the shallow edge. Is this s UK buy? Cos I cannot find many on the internet and certainly nothing like this one. The sides have pockets for planting so that they don't fall in. Terrific.
simple effective and done correctly great job guys end product looked alot more expensive that this project would have been love the the planting aswell turned a pretty much boring space into something fun and attractive thumbs up from me @yourfriendlyweekendgardener
I dig for a living & this pair complicated the sh1t out of it, dig the hole wider ( NOT deeper & not the complex shape ) than what you need, then back fill around it.
Every video that involves digging shows this magical, dark, non-compacted, loose, stoneless, loamy soil. These videos are taken in a land where shovels inch down into the ground with minimal effort by an always sweatless wielder and, with minimal effort up comes a crumbly soil, happy to comply with human command. Some say that Antarctica is the heavily guarded entrance to The Garden of Eden. Is that where these videos are taken? I ask because whenever _I_ dig I need a jackhammer, a full week and a contrite prayer. Not cool TH-cam...not cool.
HI great vid. what was the name of the brass fitting you put into the hole you drilled with the hole saw. you covered with pebble for water flow. i cant see it on list of materials needed
Wow the Installers were Amazing - they know there Stuff 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Beautifully installed and so beautiful!!!! Omg 😱

all videos I've seen always show soil without stones or clay and very easy to dig
Yea. I'd hit limestone at 6 inches. Would need a crowbar or a jackhammer to dig a hole like that.

It came out a lot better than I thought but instead of the prefab waterfall you should have built a natural one out of creek rocks and stones.!!! 👍👌

O trabalho de vcs é maravilhoso. Parabéns
Los felisito asen un buen trabajo🖒👌
Very nice!!! What are the measurements of the pond and where can i order one from? Also does it come with the pumps?
I think this is a North American video. But l suppose some garden centre will have it. I have seen something similar at the garden place on the main road in South Ockendon, Essex.
Try a good Garden Display Area or over ebay. Pumps are sep. most of the time but think well and do not go too small.
Richard Habicher thank you, l will try when the weather cools down a bit.
how dose the water get filtered
the pump that the placed below the surface filters the water as well was moves it around to discourage algal growth or mosphito inhabitation.
You have spelled does wrong
it isnt meant for fish
Does it have to run all the time or is it like a swimming pool shut it off in the winter????
The soil is so good.
Very nicely done.

good job man. But, the lady was very quite.
I like it 👍🐾💞👏
That is so cool. Would you be able to keep turtles here?
+George Perez probably, but they'd be in danger to predators or escaping if you don't set up a covered fence type thing around it.
You could keep very small turtles
Map mud or musk turtles
Jorge Perez ima try it out
Where did you get the artificial waterfall pieces from?
What color spraypaint should we get for the grass? Let's go with green!!! ^
ThunderDivine can't say I've seen green before... can't think of why.

Go to a store- lowes sells them
