Features: Doug Carrick usually restores larger old farm tractors but getting his hands on this 1947 Bolens Ridemaster garden tractor was a real treat. Carrick says the unit was in such a mess when it bought it, the previous owner wasn't even sure what the unit was was. Powered by a 4 horsepower Wisconsin engine the units top speed is 3 miles per hour. At the time of our visit in 2012, Carrick just had the disc attachment for doing garden work.

My dad had a Bolen ridemaster. We had a blast riding it. It had a six horsepower Wisconsin engine.

Glad to it turn a bit of dirt. Seemed to pull just fine. Thanks for getting this piece of history preserved.

Nice job on that Bolens. I've got a 1961 Montgomery Wards walk behind with snow plow. I bought it from the original owner and it has the original Wisconsin engine and spark plug still on it and it will fire up and run on the third pull. I've plowed my drive in the winter many times with it and it works great.

It really looks sharp. The time it takes to restore farm equipment, even a unit this small, can be daunting. Nice work.

We Have Two, One is a 1957, We use them as Graders, One of um almost killed me when I was about 11 years old, Didn't weigh enough, Flipped over, You operate them like a snowmobile, ( Transfer weight by moving to the light side) I'm 68 now, They still grade floors, driveways and yards, Handy little guys,

They need to make more of them and all the old tractors to those are the best for a homestead or a gardener instead of huge ones for fields

That front tire he chose is the right tire for this application!.. There is not much weight over the front tires and so those knobby motorbike tires are perfect.

Ebay has those Ag tires you're looking for the front. Tucker tire on Ebay, $83 each with the tube, plus $22 shipping.

Firestone has the correct front tires. Keep the dirt-bike tires! The ‘Stone’s price is horrifying!

I'm curious what a home built scooter with that engine on it would have looked like.
