A contractor I did some work with had one of these. He claimed he was doing a job for the army in the 2000s and it was sitting near his job site abandoned. He asked the commander what they were doing with it, he replied "future artillery target." He then asked if he could buy it, the commander said he can't sell government property, but if it was gone before Monday it is what it is.
I even dug a 3 acre pond for my uncle with it.

I ran one of those in the Army, 830 Cat. But my favorite is the MRS100. Air mobile in 5 pieces

It could have used a little help, from a pusher, but did alright. Gotta love this old equipment that still does what it was built to do, and well.

Great clip. I never heard of these. The driving here in Oshawa Ontario is so bad that blade would make a great front bumper.....

I'm pretty sure this is a Caterpillar 830MB; I've got one nearly identical to it. The 290M Clark has a different shaped hood and grill. I believe the Clark is a little longer wheelbase also but I'm not 100% certain. The scraper part looks like a Curtis Wright version. Euclid also had a contract for the towed scraper but they don't seem to be as common and have a more rounded arch in the neck compared to the CW. Either way it's a nice machine and good to see it still being used.

The Military / Army had what looks like these, but if I recall right, they were much larger, Vietnam, I was in country
from mid 67 to April of 69, That's where I seen them making a run over the country road, it looked like it was beating
the operator to death. I ran across a guy who ran one of them: something in 67 or in 68 ? only new him for a short while:
He operated one of the Army's version, big machine: around the size of a 651 cat: the can. Felt bad for the guy:
His stature wasn't all that good, a real light weight type person. He was struggle for him: He was apart of some letter program, He would
get letters from the Hollwood actress, photos and all: I Never had it straight, I think it was some short of pen pal club.
But he was from Florida, some thing to do with the movie industry there, / family. back then no one stuck around long,
no idea what come of him.
