Jetfire is quite literally a Macross VF-1 Super Valkyrie, and Soundwave was a 1:1 scale replica of a microcassette recorder (and the cassettebot were 1:1 replicas of the cassettes used in it). These were used by businessmen (and possibly novelists as well) as dictation recorders for secretarys to type documents from.
@@evanlindsey1100 Jetfire/Skyfire, and Soundwave are the same where both Alt modes are fictional created for a cartoon using features of a real life jet, and hand held music player/recorder. Both charachter's Alt modes are only concepts. Neither one of them where created exactly as the real jet or hand held. 1982's Macross VF-1 Valkyrie I'm super familiar with as I had many bowls of cereal watching Robotech in the 80's as a kid, and I know for a fact that the Macross elite focal jetfighter in the series the VF-1 Valkyrie was created from the F-14 Tomcat, and F-15 Eagle designs by Kazutaka Miyatake and Shoji Kawam. Skyfire/Jetfire's toy figure was the Robotech VF-1 Valkyrie which put Hasbro in a lot of legal hot water thus the change in name, and limited appearances of the popular charachter in the series due to the legal issues. So being that the VF-1 was born from the F-14 Tomcat, Hasbro/Sunbow too used ''Features" from the F-14 Tomcat to create Skyfire/ Jetfire character but he is not an actual jet plane, just a concept where features were derived from the F-14. As for Soundwave he too was a concept not a real hand held micro music player/recorder as you can find that information filed by Hasbro in the United States Records of U.S. Patents. In the 50's-80's the MicroRecorder was often used by individuals in our society like Businesses, Schools, Police, Gov't Officials, Intelligence to gather or record Information, which is exactly what Soundwave and his Tape minions are for the Decepticons, Intelligence specialists. Except when Bob Budiansky in Marvel along with Hasbro could not use an exact model Micro Recorder because they where not licensed, and it took time, and money to partner, and to do so would be putting them in a similar situation like the Jetfire/Skyfire legal problem. They created the charachter Soundwave's Alt mode as a concept, and patented it for the show but not as a functional Walkman nor MicroRecorder. I found for a fact that the 1982 Japanese Sony ''SOUND WA'' was a big inspiration for "SOUND WAve" and you can even see for a Walkman the Sony SOUND WA had features that where not normal for a Walkman, it was a bigger version of the Micro Recorder. Even the Sound WA's original, and only color scheme is the exact same as SOUND WAve's. Further helping Hasbro/Takara avoid legal issues with Sony for the Similarities, the United States version of the 1982 Japanese Sound WA was renamed, and distributed as the Sony Stereo Soundabout in the USA. Plus Takara created the Robot toy as part of their Micro Change line as a Micro Recorder not a Walkman to avoid issues with Sony. Remember Sony in the 80's was already a well established brand net worth at the time almost half a Billion USD, and didnt need to work or partner with others Companies unlike another Japanese Company Takara Tomy who where the original creators for Soundwave as part of their Micro Change/Diaclone toy line. Also Sony's headqurters is in the district of Minato Tokyo Japan where the Sony Sound WA was developed and distributed in(1982). Takara Tomy's Headquarters is also in the business district of Mibu Tokyo, Japan and the Micro Change along with the robot we all lovingly know today as Soundwave was created a year later in (1983) . Which from one Headquarters to the other is less than 9 minutes away, approximately 1.9 miles. That's pretty close, and I don't believe in coincidences. So again both characters are not Real Exact copies of an actual jet nor Micro cassette recorder/music player but there concepts do come from actual objects that inspired the designers at Takara/Hasbro/Marvel/Sunbow. Jetfire was a Cybertronian jet and Soundwave’s cassette mode wasn’t a real thing
SKYFIRE was a cybertronian jet
JETFIRE (the toy, macross valkyri) was an f14 tomcat
@@alphatrion100 They’re still the exact same character, hell, he was still called Jetfire in the Marvel comics
He was a minicassette recorder.
So his cassettes were actual size, unlike Blaster's.
@. He means the specific design of the microcassette player Soundwave turned he turned into didn’t actually look like any particular real one.
I know what a microcasette player is, I'm saying that the model he transforms into doesn't exist
I mean technically Jetfire doesn’t have an earth mode
In the show yes. But his toy was an F-14
1:32 Hound is a 1945 Willy Jeep because on the box of masterpiece Hound there is a Jeep logo not the Mitsubishi logo.🤨

Huffer turned into a Volvo F88, Optimus, and by extent Magnus, turn into Frieghtliner FLA86
Hound isn’t a jeep, but Gears is a jeep.
Mind blown

How
And 30 years later they came out with an F-14 Tomcat in honor of Top Gun Maverick.
Lol no, original toy was a vf-1 Valkyrie, cartoon one is a squared version of that for copyright
Soundwave's a microcassette player, not a walkman. It's also why Decepticon tapes have "MC" on their labels.
Bombshell is actually a Boll Weevil
