If anyone are into their Mini's then I'd recommend taking a tour of the factory in Cowley, I did and it was such an awesome place and to see the Mini being assembled was so cool
very nice documentary, i think i will have the green one (BRG) with white roof and mirror covers, oh plus some white wheels will just be a treat. see why there are so expensive as there built quality is high compared to many others, and i always like Mini's.
Its amazing how something that has thousands of parts, so many different types of materials and so many manufacturing processes can still be affordable: the wonders of mass production I guess.

It just needs a sharp edit of each step with multiple angles of points of interests, like the soldering process or metal form sections. A bit more like How It's Made. It could really well. Like another comment on here , music plays a massive part in the delivery of the message of the video. A low level score would only improve this.

What point does the brake system filled and bled, Is there also a automatic machine for this? I can't believe it is a couple of guys with one pumping the brakes.
When the computers and robots at this plant start paying cash for these beauties and driving them in front of their mortgaged-levered home, thus adding to the economy of Great Britain, Germany and perhaps the world...then I'll be REALLY impressed. This mechanical methodology has been active for decades and it hasn't helped Japan or any of the countries that've embraced technology whole heartedly.

Don't mess with the Germans, I just got one (2014 hardtop cooper S).-stck shift - its a blast, VERY responsive but due to stiff suspension it is very bumpy, you will feel everything on the road, do try to get the DYNAMIC SUSPENSION package when you custom order
hurius I try to be cautious of the bumps, fearing that they will eventually ruin the suspension, bushing etc. But it is a beautiful car! Love the design and again how responsive it is, it has huge frontal brakes. I like small cars, why does it have to be SO HUGE to make you feel you got the very best or its a 'real' sports car? I think mini is every bit optimized in regards to form and volume minimization, no bulky, unnecessary features with this car. Got to agree with the creator of the original mini - he said that a hatch-back looks more beautiful and modern than a saloon car. Just my thoughts :-)
Ronit Singh the mini and mini cabrio has been first driven by me with the possibility from drive-now, which owns not special models, but the most standard models in different variations. i have to say that, because i don't own some mini. but the positive is, that i tried a lot of them. different ages, different mileages, different clutches and engines (newer and smaller engines and little bit bigger engines, diesel or gas) different gearboxtypes (automatic with or without manual shift, 6-speeds etc.) and i can sumeout, that these smaller engines, from newer ages, are a little bit crappy in combination with the newer, stronger, loveless built-in, cheap clutchpedal. they have really no power to drive it without get in struggle with the gearbox and drive (alternating thrust and engine-brake) because the clutch is too strong to manifold. made in china? i found some different favourite combinations out, which i would buy and prefer. thats not cabrio, because you can't see the people behind you, and thats also not these stupid 1,2 ? or 1,4 l gasoline engine without torque. I would prefer an strong diesel. They are really rockets combined with the small light chassis. with an automatic gearbox its easy possible to challenge some aged "sport" cars, which i haven't tried yet directly ;-) because drive-now isn't to race. ;) but sometimes people doesn't care much about their rented cars, as i have to admit, that i sometimes, in hurry, drive a little bit faster. and so does it come that i know the feedback from this car on bumpy roads and curves. its quite different to steer it if you fast on your own and sametime drive over an little bumber, or something like that. i never tried the clubman, but i would prefer the clubman with an 6shift gearbox and a strong (and more massively) gasoline or favorably a diesel 110HP engine because it has a longer wheelbase, which is much more save to drive. altogether is mini a very nice small car, which has reliable panstatistics and is funny to drive... over and out
hurius I know what you saying, the new mini sounds like a diesel anyway, that chunky and clicking sound when it ideals, I thought something was wrong and took it to dealers, they said it was normal, they checked and all. Shifting gears, not so smooth either. I have driven diesel all my life and love how smooth it shifts gear cause of the insane torque it has compared to gas. Mini is no Ferrari which is made with passion, it has to sell by the thousands so there are drawbacks to it. Yes I would much prefer a juiced up diesel under the hood, they will be hesitant to get some to USA. Well this is my first car here in the US, I dream of owning the original 1960s MINI, with my choice of engine and gearbox and everything modern under the hood to make it safe. The new one is quite good in terms of safety. Wish they had done more with the gauges and display, everything has its reasons. Yeah the gear shifting is crappy, i HAVE TO AGREE, but the engine (2L) with turbo has a nice sound to it and very responsive, it is quite torquy too, I can easily short-shift because of the torque it outputs, to 6th gear under 3000 rpm. Well I gotta put on some vintage fog lights on it- made in Italy , 5.5" dia with arrows on the glass too. For me its my first car and I think for its size, class, design and performance, I made a good choice, I like minis, a small car and stick shift, what can be better except the original. I just love it cause it is well designed and yes it is quite heavy - well built with thicker gauge sheet metal.
It surprises me how many MINIs are custom made at the factory. They do make mistakes on orders so how do they know if car 1 is custom built and car 2 is a prefabricated trim version? Do the custom built cars have a tray of parts that follow them so the workers know the customer specifically wanted a GPS in the dash while the next car is supposed to be made without it? Or does the computer "know" this and have the parts on the supply line already? Oddly, when I was shopping around for a car, quite a few MINIs were coming from the factory with the wrong options installed but they fixed that problem quickly.
Yeah did the Factory tour a few years back al the parts go round with the car and meet up correct. The actual parts come off the transit in the exact order of the builds. So if you wanted Black 18” Wheels they would come of the truck and loaded into the system to go round with your car. Its actually really interesting seeing the car going from a shell to the first start ups on the line.
Not to criticize the car but BMW are loosing the sense of measurement. They went far too large now that they lost the mini concept. They have already done the mistake in puffing up the R56 and placing that junk of an engine in it, now regarding size, they went even worse. I cannot say anything about the new engine but hope they rectified the bundle of problems the other had. In my opinion, the best new mini up to date to be produced by BMW, was and still is the R53 1st Gen minis with its superb super reliable Chrysler Daimler engine.
Now i understand why this car is so expensive ...look at there equipment WOW i looooove robots very intresting..they must send me a robot to clean my toyota hahaha great video

u're right, driving a mini is sometimes not easy, in a case of bumby roads and sewage-covers in tight curves
