    Your videos do not have value. They are INVALUABLE. Not only have you saved me thousands of dollars, in towing+parts+labor+time+lord knows what else, but you also give me the confidence to do a few first time repairs without a worry.. I am very impressed with the content TH-cam has acquired and I will deviate a bit on a slight rant. Google bought TH-cam some years ago along with VEVO to monopolize the digital music and digital content distribution market which is not only illegal it is criminal. You would think that Google would cut you guys in on a little Ad money for content over a certain views of course but also for genre devoid videos that is a term I made up for videos that cannot be found anywhere and are rare and specific to its Genre. These videos would never reach 100's of thousands because there isn't a mainstream need but is a critical need for those who seek it and your videos and you deserve compensation. I am not a rich man yet but I'd like to send you a few bucks since the rich man doesn't appreciate what doesn't reach the golden bell. What a greed filled world we live in. But we have good men like you to balance out the bad.

      What an incredible comment to read! Thank you so much for showing such a level of appreciation for the content that I post. It gives me a renewed sense of purpose to continue making helpful videos!
      About the disproportion in views when comparing junk content to actual helpful content, you have a valid point. The same pattern can be found in most medias unfortunately. The base, natural and crude content is always more popular than thoughtful, meaningful content. It is a part of fallen human nature to go after what satisfies the senses. But we must not get discouraged and keep pushing to elevate the standard!
      As for a monetary reward, the thought is kind of you but I do not have a need for it.
      Actually now that you mention ad revenue, I realized recently while showing one of my videos to a relative, that TH-cam shows ads on my videos. I had no idea! I don't even monetize my videos. So TH-cam serves ads and keeps the revenue. Kind of disappointing if you ask me. I don't have enough "watch hours" to be eligible for monetizetion (you need 4000 watch hours). When I reach 4000 hours I might turn on monetization and give the proceeds to a charity. At least it won't go to TH-cam/Google!

    Thanks for this awesome guide! The center bearing on mine was completely detached. 2nd time doing this job in 4 years! First time I paid someone, this time I did it myself & used new transmission mounts + engine mounts too.
    I could not get the driveshaft to separate from the differential... so for anyone wondering, YES, you can do this job without removing the drive shaft from the car. It's just a major PITA... especially on your back in the garage. I imagine a lift would make things easier.

      I wonder what caused the almost-new center bearing to fail so quickly? They should last at least 10 years I believe.
      And yes, I'm sure a lift makes every job easier. :) Wish I had one too!

      I would love to know what caused it to fail! I can only suspect cheap parts. The transmission mounts were in poor conditition too which is strange seeing as they were only a few years old (changed at same time as the center bearing, according to the shop). There is zero slop/play in the driveshaft too. I will say maybe I'm an outlier driving 54,000 miles since 2018! @ClassicBMWFanInQuebec

    Thank you very much for this video. I will use the same technique to rebuild the drive shaft in my E34. I have to say it is the first time I saw a drive shaft - gearbox joint without flex disc.

      Close to the end of last December, I had to remove the drive shaft from my E34. When it came back to the reinstallation I got a bit confused. Because, according to the Bentley manual, the center bearing should be preloaded 4-6mm forward to the engine. Before removing the center bearing, I marked its position on the body. First I wanted to preload it forward 4mm but then I found that in that case, it will not be in the marked place (the original place from where demounted). So put it onto the marked place and torqued. I did not want to change anything. I did not properly understand what does preload mean. Does it mean to put center bearing 4mm forward than its original place?
      I installed it just into the original place but later, while driving I heard small roaring during the acceleration. Sounds like there is a small turbo works. Now I do not know from where this raring comes. Before disassembly, it worked perfectly (I removed it to check play on the gearbox end flange).

    It seems that the driveshaft bolt is easier to open while driveshaft is still on car. On my E32 750i that center bearing outer sleeve has cracked. I think the reason for failing was the driverside engine mount which was cracked in half. I have already changed engine mounts and gearbox mounts but driveshaft is still waiting. Thanks for great videos!

      This is how I did it. Didn't even need a puller for the old bearing, it just came off with a decent pull by hand.

    Awesome! I managed to fix my overheating issue I stated in your previous video.
    It was my thermostat! lol Now I have a driveshaft mount and to my luck you had just uploaded this video, Thanks for always providing all this information, very useful and great video.

    Toujours intéressant et informatif comme d'habitude. Pensez-vous que l'application de PB Blaster ou équivalent aurait facilité le dévissage de la vis récalcitrante ?? Puisque je remise également ma M635CSI pour 5 ou 6 mois, je m'assure que le réservoir d'essence soit rempli afin d'éviter toute condensation , ce qui ne semble pas être le cas de votre côté . Y a-t-il une raison? Également, j'avais lu qu'il est recommandé qu'après une longue période d'entreposage et avant de remettre le moteur en route, il faut débrancher le relais de la pompe à essence et faire fonctionner le démarreur à quelques reprises afin de faire remonter l'huile dans le moteur sans que celui-ci démarre. On peut par la suite rebrancher le relais de la pompe à essence et faire démarrer le moteur. Beau travail comme à chaque fois ! Bravo!

      Merci! J'avais aussi lu ces trucs pour mieux préparer une voiture à l'entreposage à long terme. Je ne suis discipliné pour les appliquer cependant! C'est comme nettoyer l'auto avant de la remiser, je trouve jamais le temps pour le faire!
      Surement qu'une bonne dose de PB Blaster aurait été utile oui, je n'y ai pas pensé sur le coup.

    Bav auto, back when were around used to sell beyer brand driveshafts which have serviceable joints, I put one in my e23 for around 750 USD

      That's a fair price! If my driveshaft joints bind in the future, I will have to find a shop to build a driveshaft like this. I assume it would be less expense than the BMW one.

      Hi, only with the manual transmission. Part # 26117511454 for the flex disc.

    If that bolt backs off, you got big problems. Red loctite the bolt and tighten as much as you can

      It would be bad news indeed! The Bentley manual doesn't recommend a thread locker though, and I tightened it as much as I could.

      @@ClassicBMWFanInQuebec I’m gonna put some on anyway on my e34. I had bolts back off on me before and once you break mother natures threadlocker it can back off
