    Here's a story about can openers since you brought it up. Hadn't used a manual can opener in years for the reason you mentioned, they're mostly obsolete. Whelp. went camping last month and in quick preparation grabbed a few cans of food and threw them in the truck. Fast forward to 2 hours deep into the mountains up a high clearance vehicle road, sitting by the campfire grabbed the can of green beans and what do you know it's an old timey no pull tab type of can. Scrambled for a few minutes until I found the old timey can opener which saved dinner. Sure glad my little cheap multitool had one.

    8:53 That is one of the main attractions of Ganzo multi-tools. And yes, it does come with bits and a sheath. Maybe the one killerdeegan sent you did not come with anything, but the ones you buy come with a sheath and a bit kit with the adapter.
    And the adapter also fits a ton of multi-tools with square shank Phillips drivers, like the Leatherman Rebar and ST300, and Gerber ones, and other off-brand ones. It is really nifty, and it takes standard bits and costs way less than the Leatherman removable bit adapter they sell for the ST300, Rebar etc.
    There are some other points I do not agree with, but a great video nonetheless. Quite a decent tool for the price.

    Ganzo claim the steel used for the blades on this tool is 440C. A higher quality steel than many leathermans that still use 420HC.

      Yes, I have two Leathermans which cost me more than $1OO each but they cant beat the Ganzo 3O2H I have, superior cutting ability, superior workmanship especially with the Ganzo needle pliers they align perfectly no gaps and no play at all after many years of heavy use along with Leatherman. Made in USA is a name only, if anyone can find excellent Chinese products, and I have a few already. It seems ganzo uses superior steel than Leathhermans

    Thanks for this comprehensive honest review. I have a handful of wave variants and they are pretty useable for a lot of tasks. I have several cheapies like the suspension and the suspension nxt and they are both more like toys. One time I was trying to cut the plastic tip off a tube of caulking with my suspension and it wouldn't do it; it was dangerous.

    Not sure about elsewhere in the world, but can openers are pretty necessary in the US. I use one probably 2-3 times per week at home and I have used them camping, too.

      Sure, besides a knife, there are a lot of tools you can manage without. Maybe it's different in Australia, but most beer bottles here need an opener or the edge of a kitchen table or something.

    I hate the little saw on the Surge, but whack one of the longer jigsaw blades in there and it is pretty useful. Only problem is you can't fold it closed, have to carry the longer blade on the outside with your bit kit or whatever.

    I have a question. How can you tell if steel on a knife is as advertised? Would you recommend a cut test similar to yours and look for similar numbers? The steel in question is m390 on a Kizer mini Intrepid. It seems to have dulled noticeably after 25 feet of cardboard. Any advice?

    • @CedricAda
      @CedricAda  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      its tricky, and there are companies who can analyze, but yeah, its really on us to test and try and draw our own comparison. Put the same edge on your intrepid and another knife and see if it cuts cardboard longer

    Good review. I keep a few Ganzos around. They fit a doctrine of adequacy quite nicely. For the most part my knives and multitools go camping, do light chores, etc. I find the biggest concern with these things is losing or breaking them, so having a few sufficient tools on hand tends to outbalance an equal investment in a single tool of measurably better quality but similar in real world application. My remaining Leatherman mostly stays in a drawer. Even for office use I carry a lowly Gerber Dime. The one place this doctrine of adequacy might prove inadequate is long term field reliance on a single knife. I dunno. Mosty my decent hunting knives stay home and camp chores are done with an Opinel or an Old Hickory..or a hatchet. Testing a dirt cheap Buck Paklite for this purpose soon :)

      In fairness, Europe has hefty 20%+ Value Added Taxes. Even so, the current Wave price on Amazon US $90. Stick 20% on that, $110. Leaving a Screw You tax of about $40 based on UK prices. It's the reason why I can't quite share the passion of US TH-camrs complaining about foreign knock-offs.

    I think the battery cable end is the number one most important thing where a multi-tool can save the day. It's low odds when your car won't start that if it should be any other cause, that you will be able to "get home" with the use of your multi-tool. (Disclaimer: unless you are a true genius and have some luck on your side). A lot of multitools are ill-suited for dealing with this cable end problem. I ground the tips (made them blunt) on my leatherman wave for this very specific purpose

    Ganzo knives are great. Their multitools not so. Also, Ganzo offer no customer support.
    I had the above tool, a 302b with tungsten jaw inserts and one of the handle screws fell out. No importer or distributor would supply spares and Ganzo themselves cannot be contacted. This multitool was £30 approx, so it's not some cheap throwaway but I will be throwing it away if I can't get a spare screw.
    Ganzo, if you are reading this and want to help, please reply here with contact details.

    This isn't a great review - you didn't even have the complete multitool to begin with, your prices are way out, and the review itself doesn't say enough about the quality of the tool ie addressing the question you posed at the start of the video and you don't explain your conclusion at 13.00. Perhaps it would help if you started out with the complete product and conducted some proper testing of its implements.
    The bit set is one of the main reasons to buy this over a smaller-size tool and needs to be a main focus of any review. Perhaps take this review down and re-record it with that bit set and sheath included.
    Also, if you want to be taken seriously you need to do research and use proper terms like 'set' rather than 'flare' to describe saw teeth.

    • @CedricAda
      @CedricAda  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve seen your second edit comments now. Re: proper terms - I shoot on the fly after a review period. I don’t use notes. The exact specific terms arent really my concern, as long as everyone gets what im saying. You obviousmy worked out what I was saying.
      I’m not doing this to be a professional, just to show and tell and discuss. I’m probably not serious enough for you and you may not find the structure you seek with my videos. Plenty of more professional reviewers out there for you though, thats the beauty of the internet. The bit kit wasnt sent with the tool.
      My opinion of the tool after using it and testing it were as stated. A bit crummy, but half the price of the competitors, so worth chucking a few in the odd glove compartment or tool box for occasional use. I think some other folks have got some value or at least entertainment from it going from the likes and other discussion, so I’m not going to take it down. Have you ever video reviewed something or have any content to show? Theres all different kinds of reviewers and gear folk. I thought I had done a reasonable job of showing each tool in use.
