    i think your suggestion about the lume on the hour hand is great. Not a deal breaker for me, but if i had the choice, i think i'd go with your preference, too.

    I think you’re spot on about the hour hand. The two hands match much better and makes the hour hand less heavy looking.

    Kudos to Lotier and to you. You did well giving feedback, their watches have been improving a lot thanks to feedback like yours. The one thing I’d love to add would be some hints of red but that might make it look like a Black Bay homage. Btw great videos, YT rarely show me your videos but whenever I see one I love it! I bought my Traska summitteer thanks to you and I strayed away from Smiths Everest because of you. Thank you for the great content man! 🎉

      Thanks for your comment. And I do agree with the hints of red. That would be awesome. It is great that Lorier really listen to the fans so I really hope the next iteration of this model will be great. Thanks for your support. The Summiteer is an awesome watch and I feel really proud every time I wear it. Glad to know that you got yours because of my videos.

      The date version have the "Neptune" name in red above the date wheel at 6 and it's what swayed me to getting that version myself!

      @@lowhangingvegetable yes, that was a very tempting proposition.

    I think the metal frame around the hour hand lumen should be thinner, yes. It should match the thickness of the metal frame of the minute hand. That would solve the lume issue and make this aesthetically more coherent.

    I'm not as concerned about lume as a lot of people are... however, I will say in terms of what you see when you're not looking at not it in the dark, the metal and the lume area in the design, I think the way Lorier have designed the hands, (dial, bezel, everything!) is perfect. I will second that L&L are amazing people!

    • @TheWatchFrame
      @TheWatchFrame  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the comment. Of course each one has different priorities. If you don't mind lume, then yes. It's a go. I would still prefer a thinner frame at the tip of the hour hand as it would be more in line with the frame of the minute hand, but as you say, with light the watch looks great.

    I entirely agree. I have the current version of the falcon, and the only reason I don't use it as my main travel watch (which it would be perfect for otherwise) is the same issue

    My only problem with Lorier is the crystal material. At the same time it feels acceptable and vintage it also feels odd for the price and something i would prefer to be different...

    • @TheWatchFrame

      I have to admit that I really liked the crystal but I understand what you mean :)

      - I believe the acrylic crystal costs Lorier more than saphire would have.

    • @TheWatchFrame
      @TheWatchFrame  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@67NewEngland seems so. In any case, this is a very deliberate decision of the brand that brings the extra charm of vintage to a modern watch. One of my favorite watches is a Caravelle Sea Hunter of 1970 and I'm extremely happy with the acrylic crystal. Wouldn't want to have anything else.

    • @TheWatchFrame
      @TheWatchFrame  ปีที่แล้ว

      They share a lot. How does the lume perform in the Falcon? Would it work better with more lumed surface too?

    • @Dialandhands
      @Dialandhands ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheWatchFrame Tbh I have double to check and see. From memory because of the smaller indices, I don’t notice much difference. I don’t wear it super often because I’m afraid of damaging the acrylic crystal at work. It is by far my favorite watch in my collection though. The dial texture and the polishing around the indices make it pop so well in the light. I think that’s the reason why I won’t buy a Neptune is because it doesn’t have the dial texture that makes the Falcon so unique and special.

    • @TheWatchFrame
      @TheWatchFrame  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Dialandhands I was very tempted by the Falcon to be honest but now after the lume issue I wonder if it's also so weak. Yes, there might not be much of a difference between the hands and the markers in this case. Thanks for your feedback.

    It's like you read my mind on the lume. I thought I was the only one with this criticism. I love their designs but I wish they were able to balance the lume better between the dial, hands, and bezel.

    Thanks for the great review! I can understand your point about the lume. I’m sure most people prefer to have the best lume as possible. But I can also understand Lorenzo’s point about that being the design they are going with since they do use vintage watches as their inspiration. Cheers!

    • @TheWatchFrame
      @TheWatchFrame  ปีที่แล้ว

      To each their own, but vintage pieces of the era used to have a lot of lume surface in the hour hand too, so this goes both ways. For me it is a diver first and first comes function, which is legibility in all possible conditions.

    @keith4948 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I’m sure your design is better for lume, but I prefer the current look. I love how the light reflects off of the gilt hands so I prefer more gilt over more lume.

    • @TheWatchFrame
      @TheWatchFrame  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course to each their own. In my case this type of watch, being a diver, where legibility in any situation is paramount form should follow function. I know it's a dressy watch, but while inspired on the practical FFF watches of the past, this can't not be overlooked and should be considered always as a priority despite any other consideration. This in part has been addressed with a more differentiable hour hand but felt short in the night lume department. Again, my pure personal take on this. The watch is gorgeous by itself and I would have loved to have kept it with me, but needed tu fund the Squale where the lume is, paradoxically, way better give is has old radium paint.

    Sounds like he prefers looks over function which is totally impractical

    • @TheWatchFrame
      @TheWatchFrame  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Lorenzo argues that the function of this type of watch was to be elegant to be worn in more dressy situations, and that's a fair point, but I don't agree. I think this type of watch was elegant enough, having the clear readability at it's core design and passing as a watch for everything besides the main diving function. Thus, a readable hour hand is key, and even a slimmer metal contour would make the hour elegant and closer to the proportions of the minute hand.
