My grandpa taught me that coffee trick probably 40 years ago. At the time I thought he was just pulling my leg. It wasn't until about 8 years later that I was out in Montana elk hunting, i had my camp on my back and I was miles from any type of civilization. I had checked the weather report before I left and it was supposed to be good weather. (This was before cell phones). Well every morning id brew a cup of coffee and this particular morning i waa pouring it in my cup and i saw the bubble go to the center. I had never payed it any attention before this morning i noticed it. I just shook my head and chuckled and said nahh surely not, the sky was clear and seemed fine to me. I packed up camp and continued on trying to find an elk to harvest. Well sure enough about 3 hours later it blew up a awful storm and all i could think was that I should have listened to my grandpa. Lol. Them old timers knew what they were talking about.

@@BigboiiTone It's the same reason why a female voice transmits better over a radio. I can tell you as a ham radio operator that it's easier for a woman to get contacts than it is for a man... their voice carries better.

I never tire of hearing stories about our Fathers creations! Our Fathers creations are the best Weather Forecasters! I'm an old Country girl from Georgia and my Daddy n Momma always told the weather by walking around in the yard! Momma would tell us girl's to get the clothes off the line bc rains a coming! Lol. Daddy and Momma would tell my brothers to hurry and cover the seeds in the garden they were planting cause rains a coming! They knew and we learned it all from them! Kent. I love the stories you tell about Camp. I know those times were hard. I never lived in a Cowboy Camp but I've lived a Poor ole country girl's life without running water, or inside facilities or without electricity. Had to draw water out of the well for everything from cooking, washing dishes, clothes outside, to baths in an old round tub or the creek. We used oil lamps for light and an old cook stove to cook n heat the house. I lived a rewarding life. Some might say it was hard and in some ways it was but we didn't know no different. Now, I say it was a rewarding life and I could go back to living those days and do it good. Looks like we might get to do that if this world keeps going like it is. Thank you Kent and Shannon for this video. I sure did love that rainbow God painted in that Old Camp.. It was a beautiful sight! God Bless and keep the stories a coming! 🙏🙏❤❤🇺🇸🇺🇸

Many decades ago I remember my late grandmother saying, "It's going to rain. I can feel it in my bones". I never knew what she meant until I reached my late 50's / early 60's. The barometric pressure falling causes joint pain. This is another one for your list of nature's weather signs.

One thing that I've found helpful is taking the National Weather Service's Skywarn training. It teaches you what to look for in the clouds. I really encourage it for anyone who works or is otherwise outdoors in situations where phone/internet service is limited or nonexistent. It's not hard, you don't need a lot of science, and a typical training session lasts only half a day. Best of all, it's free and open to the public.

As a believer, I really appreciate it when you give God the credit that is due Him when you talk about His creation. By way of encouragement, lets give the Lord credit for the weather too, the good & not so good. He brings trials & tribulations, including challenging weather, to draw us closer to Him, that we may be more & more dependent on Him. Have great day, & God bless you both.

Here by the Great Salt Lake (what’s left of it) we can tell a real storm from a small one by smell. Front comes over, super cools the surface, it sinks and brings the bottom layer up. The front sucks that up and dumps it on us as “lake effect” snow. Some don’t like the smell of that lake bottom, but to me it smells like goose hunting.

I was reminded of the great German airshipman Dr. Hugo Eckener. His colleagues said that he could smell a storm a hundred miles away, likely because he spent his formative years sailing on Lake Constance (Bodensee) in Southern Bavaria, where Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin's first airship took flight on July 4, 1900.
