Because in Europe, gun laws and weapon laws are incredibly strict and most people have never seen either a gun or a machete. And before the people who read this blow up and say you've seen many guns IRL, just know this is from personal observation and personal opinion.
In Europe you're lucky if you see a police officer carrying a MP5 or something along those lines. You usually can't even carry around a one-handed knife.
I was recently there in Bangkok and after buying a knuckle duster from one of the stalls I was arrested 50m down the road by the Thai police. I believe the stalls and the police work together and get some type of tip for informing the police when someone buys a weapon. I had to pay a 5,000 baht fine to the police for carrying an offensive weapon in public.
Unfortunately, this happens sometimes, I've heard about these stings before. It's the risk you take in BKK and you must be willing to pay the police if you are caught carrying contraband.

I'm sorry but that first place you went to was selling cheap junk. Being from America, the stun-gun, brass knucks, and throwing stars are illegal in certain jurisdictions. But generally legal in most of the nation. I'm very familiar with that "pen-knife." Absolute garbage. That "combat knife," same thing. You're best using it as a wall-hanger. Plenty of real combat knives out there. Cheap throwing stars that can easily bend. Those credit card knives are notorious for being utter rubbish. Okay, the stun-gun was a bit impressive. But most such vendors usually have a couple of decent things worth buying. Telescopic baton at the other place. Familiar with those cheap ones too. Watch out for the end of the baton flying off from the rest of the shaft after awhile. Very common. ASP is the only company that makes those things properly. Cheap butterfly knives. Watch out for one of the handles breaking a pin and flying off as you twirl it open. Out the front stiletto, so ridiculously easy to defeat one of those. Jam the opening by pressing your palm against it. Sure, you'll get a tiny pin-prick on your palm as the blade moves forward, but you've also completely buggered up the opening. And most folks have no clue what the simple trick is to get it to work again. Viagra.... Okay, no experience with that. Not something I personally need. But who knows what sort of homemade concoction you're getting with blackmarket Viagra. Labels and empty bottles are easy to get. Knuckle Duster, way too thin to be effective. Some sort of low-grade pot-metal clearly painted to look like brass. And quite frankly, not very well. As far as the machete goes, that sheath for it is higher quality. More pot metal junk. Real ones are made from carbon steel. Usually 1095, but not always. But definitely always carbon steel. Cheap junk at inflated prices that tourists think are a great bargain. These guys are experts at dealing with tourists. And the local cops make sure such places never get raided. It's easy when they're the ones who'd be doing the raiding, if they weren't bought off already. As proof, these guys are blatantly out in the open. No need to lead tourists down a dimly lit back-alley or into a private room away from prying eyes out in public. Basically it's a tourist trade! They get your money, you get cheap junk you thought you got for a bargain, and at the same time you feel like you flirted with danger. You go back home, you entertain and amaze your friends with your wild tales of finding the underground, illegal, Blackmarket. And buying a couple of items. They'll be very impressed. It's an experience. I did notice that none of these shops out in the open even ask if you wanted to buy illegal guns. They know better. That's not part of the tourist trade, nor the experience. Illegal trinkets are fine. But the local Authorities draw the line at guns. That's something they don't mess around with. And the blackmarket dealers know that. Though nothing stopping a tourist from making up tall tales about the tables upon tables full of guns that were present in some backroom they were lead to. Oh don't get me wrong, such places do exist. The dealers don't just deal with anybody though. The shops shown in this video are low-level, low-risk tourist traps.
Exactly lol, it's not even a black market situation, it's literally just cheap copies of stuff already available elsewhere in Bangkok. There's a dedicated knife store near Saman Rat that imports Cold Steel and other reputable brands. I got my first legit knife from there after years of cheap shit. You won't see any Thais buying knives here because they either don't need them (we much prefer to scrap hand to hand anyway) or bought a waaaay better one.
There was war here, so here you dont have to buy thm, just ask a veteran who wants to get rid of his kalašnjikov where he had hid it. No, i have not seen the war, no, i do not wish to give information other than, Location: Yugoslavia (former)

Similar markets on holidays in Hawaii 19 years ago. My buddy bought knuckle dusters, i bought a switch blade. We got them through customs. Mind you i was shitting myself , was able to keep cool/poker face. 👋 🇦🇺
Ghosty Ghost It’s a tourist trap that’s why you bargain cheaper prices for example a butterfly knife that costs let’s say the vendor says 10$ which is pretty expensive for a knife that’s junk so just leave and he’ll change his mind and lower the price to half the price or even more sometimes.
We must remember this man comes from a country where they contemplated limiting the length of carving knives and where I have heard pencils over a certain length have been sized in street searches. I don't find trashy cheap junk knives impressive at all all
+Nicola Cole Nope. the carving knife length limit was discussed some years back and made the news. I have heard of pencils being seized . My neighbour travelled to the UK and a gentleman accused her kids of carrying "weapons" when he saw they had hurley's with them. Caine killed Able...... with a rock!
I didn’t make news in the uk and my friend trained with a self defence trainer who trained the police and told her to always carry in her bag a sharp pencil or a pen and if attacked to stab them in the eye 👁
+Nicola Cole fair enough but I studied judo and could easily strangle someone with a belt. Should we ban belts. It is impossible to put weapons beyond reach because almost anything can be used as a weapon. You can say the limit of carving knife law was not discussed all you like but I assure you it was
The Rambo knife was way over priced, giving you holiday maker price...hahaha. These sort of markets are brilliant for picking up goodies. If you haggle or have friend who is local they can get the cheap price for you.
Michael Lorimer George yes very true. I have lived in Thailand for almost 5 years now and can speak Thai. When I've asked about the weapons previously in Thai they have been less than half the price even before haggling. This time I got the "farang" prices :)
Used to live there when I was 2-8 years old. I remember always wanting to get the nun-chucks. Didn’t see them here though. I did manage to get some hand-cuffs. Pretty cool. They also had so many pirated movies and game boy games. What a place.
Taser gun he said. It is just a taser. A taser "gun" fires two projectiles connected to the gun by a wire, which conducts electricity through the body. Half of the names that you called these knives (aka tools) were also incorrect. A combat knife, or a tactical fixed blade would have boosters that prevent the users hand from slipping off of the handle, and cutting the wielders hand. The blade that you looked at would just be called a fixed blade. Ps. All of these tools and self defense weapons are legal in most of the United States.

In 1970 a 19 year old guy on our gun went to Bangkok for his R&R. [ i was married so went to Hawaii ] The guy had never had any under-yonder [ i don't think he had ever even driven a car ] so he was pretty excited about going as he had heard all the stories about the cheap stuff over there. A few days after returning he had to catch a chopper to the rear and go get shot full of penicillin for a really bad dose of the clap. Every time i hear or read the word Bangkok i just automatically think of cheap whores and people getting VD. Oh, I also was expecting to see full automatic weapons and grenade launchers. I am from Texas, kids have been playing with this guy's prohibited weapons from as far back as the first kung fu movies were made here. Vintage switchblade A switchblade (also known as an automatic knife, pushbutton knife, ejector knife, switch, Sprenger,[1] Springer,[2][3] flick knife, or flick blade) is a type of knife with a folding or sliding blade contained in the handle which is opened automatically by a spring when a button, lever, or switch on the handle or bolster is activated.
You should elaborate and clear things up, that would be the sensible thing to do. An "otf" is ambiguous. Though seeing this is on the internet, shall I disregard it? It's operated by a switch...... @@WayneTwitch you are going to have a bad day if you bring a butterfly knife to a fight with the bullied quiet odd kid at school. Never bring a butterfly knife to an AR-15 fight bro.
@@kaibotski4939 You can see a kids coming in with a AR u cant see a Knife in someone pocket also they are illegal because the blade is bigger then the palm of a hand anything bigger then that is illegal to carry in public anyway
You can find those trinkets in Tijuana no special here. Cheap knives made of cheap medal.
Where are 99% of these things illegal? There mostly trinkets I can get at ANY flea market and military/ corner stores
When I went to flea market they were selling that in the morning

lol aside from the drugs... every flea market and gunshow i've been to for 30 years... mostly all import trash... hell most of the gas stations have almost all of these.
A reminder that making something illegal will not eliminate its presence, except in the hands of the people who can most be trusted with it.
Similar markets on holidays in Hawaii 19 years ago. My buddy bought knuckle dusters, i bought a switch blade. We got them through customs. Mind you i was shitting myself , was able to keep cool/poker face. 👋 🇦🇺
Why is everything so expensive?
Ghosty Ghost It’s a tourist trap that’s why you bargain cheaper prices for example a butterfly knife that costs let’s say the vendor says 10$ which is pretty expensive for a knife that’s junk so just leave and he’ll change his mind and lower the price to half the price or even more sometimes.
he look stubit
We must remember this man comes from a country where they contemplated limiting the length of carving knives and where I have heard pencils over a certain length have been sized in street searches. I don't find trashy cheap junk knives impressive at all all
vinniesdayoff he should not find it impresse either.
vinniesdayoff u made that up about carving knives and pencils stick a sharp pencil in ur eye. Absolute MELT
You can say the limit of carving knife law was not discussed all you like but I assure you it was
You could find a lot of buttlerfly knives in batangas in the philippines
Also butterlfy knives there are cheap and are also called "balisongs".
The mahete and telescopic batons are nice and the knuckle dusters are beautiful
Keeping a weapon with you is equal to keeping four best friends with you!
They sell all this at my local smoke shop 🤣😂😂😂🤦♂️🤦♂️
The Rambo knife was way over priced, giving you holiday maker price...hahaha.
These sort of markets are brilliant for picking up goodies.
If you haggle or have friend who is local they can get the cheap price for you.
Michael Lorimer George yes very true. I have lived in Thailand for almost 5 years now and can speak Thai. When I've asked about the weapons previously in Thai they have been less than half the price even before haggling. This time I got the "farang" prices :)
You can buy all this at wish and delivered to your UK door.
Link ?
Used to live there when I was 2-8 years old. I remember always wanting to get the nun-chucks. Didn’t see them here though. I did manage to get some hand-cuffs. Pretty cool. They also had so many pirated movies and game boy games. What a place.
You can get all of these at any Las Vegas Gun Show.
RIp off tourist price . you can buy them for 60% less the price you given
Let’s take a shot everytime he says wow
Great doc. One thing ... tell your sound editor to lower the ding sound every time a price comes up. Its well over the legal range in audio. : )
Finally my kind of video
I don't know where you guys live but I can buy that all at my local gas station
Rob Zitek LOL. IKR!!
want to ship some to a Canadian collector?? Message me.
Kushfarmer13 .... Museum Replicas Limited ships to Canada if your interested in replica battle ready (So called) edged cutlery... Modern tactical as well... I know of Canadian collectors up there... Seems their main gripe is the cost of shipping...
Haha! Yep, along with crack pipes... :)
+robert richter thank you very much my friend. I live in Ontario seems everything is a restricted weapon in this province.
This guy is silly, only a fool would pay his fee to join his kiddy club.
These aren't "illegal weapons" the are just self defense items and collectible knives
Well they are illegal here, you know.
Having a Glock here is very much the same as having a machine gun in the states. You need strict license and background checks, it is very expensive, rare, basically similar to machine guns
@@darnit1944 you do realize that Glock is a brand ,right?
@@tarasoffgear4831 Yes i know. I didnt mention the exact model, 19, 17, or 21 or many others. I mention Glock because it is the most popular pistol brand in the US gun industry. While Glock pistols are plentiful there, it is extremely rare here, therefore it is expensive as hell. Only the police and a well equipped criminal have jt
This is Thailand not USA.
@@darnit1944 fair enough . You seem pretty knowledge
Im from thailand and i really love thailand im going to go there with my mom in 28 days

Not only impressed with the knife itself but the sheathe's are very nice as well.
Knives are illegal. How do you cut a stake? That’s a stun gun not a taser.
Order a beer, buy a machete outside the bar, go back inside the bar with your new machete. Get it?
@@THEMARTIALMAN In my state in the U.S., you can buy your beer at a drive up liquor store window while packing any concealed or unconcealed weapon you want legally without any permit. It would be a waste of time walking out of a bar just to buy a machete.....
I'm just stroking my le6920 and feeling bad for Brits
+maxi mcknifegun we feel sorry for you when some scitzo shoots up a concert
A handheld stun gun actually. Stun guns are miniature electric dual harpoons sold only to law enforcement and similar personell.
You can buy all that stuff right here in the US, why would you want to buy it there?
Immediately offering a member service when I have no idea who you are yet is really off putting : (
I've been to Thailand many times and my family are also from Thailand. If people don't like this video then stay at home and do some knitting.
I prefer to see the world !
I think throwing stars are in illegal in Australia but I brought 3 from Thailand and just stuck them in my suitcase, it got scanned at the airport in Australia but they didn’t even open my bag and I still have them
Now all you need is a spring launcher and you have a proper Australian weapon of mass destruction lol
I can get all of those in my local swapmeet in San Diego california😂😂
Skyler.G sure you can
These are over freaking priced
@Stewart Deel yes they are. You could buy that Rambo(XL) here in the Philippines for just $20 and still be overpriced for some Filipinos.
A lot of this stuff is cheap imitation blades, I wouldn’t buy any of that it’s just not worth the risk
Maybe overpriced cos they see he's a tourist
The folding karambits fire 🔥
At 5:23 he called an otf knife a switchblade this is what happens when ur government takes ur rights from you
you can get these stuffs 10 times cheaper in India.
Where ?
You can buy this stuff online in the USA.
USA buy from here too...they sell high price at USA...
alchemist89 i know
I want this Rambo knife it's very nice
Xx-2r 11 ... It's junk...
Certainly not worth $90...more like $35.
It's not even a Rambo knife. It's a style of machete, I believe like they use in the Philippines. That Chinese knock off is worth about $20.
Aside from the ballisung, switchblade, taser and duster I can get all of those thinks in the UK. 90% can be found in military surplus stores
It's amazing in New York most of those weapons are illegal. It's unfortunate, but some of those items can be used for legitimate self defense & they are still illegal
Amazing...A guy on ebay wanted to buy antique BB GUN parts from me but he lived in New York city boro..A grown man cant refurbish BB GUNS if living in the city..I told him of taking a bus into Jersey market place for the day.I couldnt believe it was truth but sure enough..I live Near Scranton 2 hours away.

Wow. Street vendors flogging Alibaba novelty weapons. So scaaaa weeeee.
In reality there's one or to vendors in every market selling this sort of shit.
I hope the video didn't scare you too much. Bangkok is a safe place to visit, don't let it put you off :)
Next time u document, please look at the flick knives that use a button and the blade flicks out the side. Aside from that best video for looking at the patpong weapons!!
"Illegal weapons" literally the most normal things you buy in such stalls all over South East Asia. The only things missing in the first stall of "illegal weapons" is massaging devices, motorcycle accessories, binoculars, camping gear, motorcycle helmets, cellphone chargers, and those massage cushions you put in your monobloc chair to turn it into a massage chair.
Every american here
Ha that's nothing. I came out the womb with my combat issued M4 with drum mag and bipod singing the national anthem drinking my Budweiser and smoking my marlboro reds without the filter
Alcohol tobacco and firearms just add BBQ
For a great party

Wot are you on about, mate?! We stopped smoking ages ago.
(The rest is spot on though... lol)
All that stuff can be bought at my local Gas Station hanging next to the cash register. I've got the credit card knife in my wallet right now.
Yeah, they are sold all over the world in developing countries.
Nothing in that video you showed was illegal whatsoever I can walk into a sporting goods store and buy guns😂
That switch blade was nice
Looks like my Xmas wish list
over priced and low quality. If you can find a smith in the rural areas you can get a custom made blade for $10
The rambo knives looks solid. Viagra may just be placebo for the low price.

We have better weapons available at your local Walmart...
All these weapons are cheap Chinese made junk spend your money on something better quality items and brands like benchmade or at least gurber
If its a one time use ,i think cheap is good....
Also some knife isnt as bad as u think...its really cut well!....and very durable....
Not from chinese but made in Thailand....(junk from chinese mostly cant sell here ,we Thai hate chinese quality...)
Maximus you must not know what your talking about because your grammar looks like it just crawled out of a land fill.
Also the weapons he is showing are most likely exported to Thailand from China
That’s not a switch blade get it right
wiki says..... This article is about a type of knife. For other uses, see Switchblade (disambiguation).
Vintage switchblade
A switchblade (also known as an automatic knife, pushbutton knife, ejector knife, switch, Sprenger,[1] Springer,[2][3] flick knife, or flick blade) is a type of knife with a folding or sliding blade contained in the handle which is opened automatically by a spring when a button, lever, or switch on the handle or bolster is activated.
stee vo - Ur believe anything you see on the internet, thats a otf knife , completely different then a switch blade
You should elaborate and clear things up, that would be the sensible thing to do. An "otf" is ambiguous. Though seeing this is on the internet, shall I disregard it?
It's operated by a switch......
Your friend wiki says; Switchblades and gravity knives provide a great variety of different OTF mechanisms.
Semantics, just semantics. Have a nice day.
And you should just stay quiet cause you have said nothing intelligent , ion have to clear anything up people who know about knifes know what I’m talking about, if u don’t know about them then this don’t apply to you , myself and the rest of youtube is not interested in what you looked up on google and how you religiously believe it. Google is ur friend btw I got knowledge without looking on the internet
You are not the authority and you do not speak for "the rest of youtube". This is from my own logic, it is operated by a switch; the blade switches in and out.
Foolish arrogance does not mean you are actually right.
Semantics!
Hey Rambo. Any finger rings that have blades that pop out? So when you swing and miss you cut them open??
That’s not a Rambo Knife, it’s a machete.
