Close to 8 years of daily use, worked like a champ. Started making awful vibration noises, and I popped it open. The ring on the blower side of the fan had split in three pieces, and at speed it was rubbing against the housing. Hoping I can find a replacement.
The Actifry does make damn good chips and roast potatoes. Those upright stir fryers just can't match it. Mine is now playing up (ERROR 6), so gonna take it apart and see if I can fix it. Apparently, it might be a problem on the circuit board (capacitors) 'Ere I go - tools out!!!
I am sorry it broke after 10 years. I have had mine for 3 years now and I am fond of it (for chicken frozen minced beef steack and to heat slices of pizza out of the freezer.... so delicious). I wrote to Seb to advise them to send you a new one for free. I hope they will have a look on your channel and offer you one. Best regards
Hi Derek enjoyed the sentiments about chips. I’d say I actually prefer chips in the actifry to chip shop chips. Our second actifry is on its way out at the moment. We got lucky last time and got one in the Black Friday sale for about 60 quid. Thanks for the tip about the air fryer be not quite as good as the actifry. We’ve also replaced the paddle once but not had the lid opening problem. Nice fix BTW.
We bought an Actifry after watching your vid on chips a couple of years ago. So far it's been Great. Previous to that we had a Phillips Airfryer that proved to be just plain dangerous. They tell you to pull the pan out and toss the chips and so my good lady was in the process of doing that one evening when it was only a few months old when the pan separated and main heavy bit fell off. She only saved herself from being burned by shoving it against the kitchen bench. I responded to her shouts to lend a third hand so avoiding a nasty burn. I did a bit of research and found a story of a little lad who had been standing beside his Dad, waiting for his chips, getting hit on his nut when the same thing happened to him. Poor thing. Anyway, when I looked, the pan was only held together by a small metal tab which just wasn't up to the job. No more Phillips for us then.
I've had my £6 chip pan for years - does the job in about 15 minutes and the chips are great! Recently switched from using light olive oil to rapeseed oil having been was informed that heating olive oil is potentially health-harming as it starts to degrade at high temperatures.
Hi, I have a delonghi air fryer that cooked from top and bottom with a removable paddle and I love the chips from it . It is very similar to your activity so has a big pan. Cheers peter.
@@dereton33 I hope you didn't throw it away because there are lot of spare parts. I am currently trying to replace a motor in mine. I love my machine mainly for chips. Fast and great results. 👍
Hi there Al I was just wondering if you have ever taken the cover off for any repairs ! ! ! I have two Tefal actifry serie - o01-1 one no heat and it turns and the other heat but not turning. So what I have done is combined the two to make a good one i.e. heat and turning. The question is "does it matter if the heater element wire are crossed over ? If i can get hold of a schematic I can sort it out immediately.
I`m sick of having to replace the plastic 'paddle' thing inside every few months. Surely Tefal could make it out of aluminium or something a little more durable ?
@@normanboyes4983 i mostly use this device with potato and sunflower oil(1 little spoon for 4 people) . sunflower oil is very common and fresh in my area. also i buy my potatoes from local farms. i can feel that they are healty while digesting them :)
Yes, we are oven chip folk. Never taste the same. Made better if you ignore the instructions and cook them hotter and for longer. Plus half-way through assault them with a spatula, stabbing a bit and turning. I usually scatter a bit of salt over them at the halfway stage too.My old Scottish granny used to bash them about in the chip pan and we had the best crunchy-yet-soft chips ever.
I've killed 4 actifrys over the years and had to fix each of them several times. I got the new Genius model and gave it away, really didn't like it. Went on to the well known selling site and got myself a used family xl, happy now
Blimey, that's a coincidence. Ours packed up only a few weeks ago. Didn't just pack up though, it sparked like a cheap firework from Del Trotter. Threw it straight in the skip and bought something different, Tower I think it is. Very happy with it so far..................and no sparks either 🤣🤣
Throw away, only good for reducing intake of poly-unsaturated vegetable oil which is dangerous. Best chips are from a normal fryer deep fried in beef tallow.
Sadly you cannot change someone’s mind with reason; explain to diesel car owners that they are not only poisoning themselves, the environment but also their loved ones and they will not listen. The cemeteries are full of ex-smokers, the cancer wards full of soon-to-be ex-smokers yet smokers persist in the face of all the evidence that smoking kills. Parents still give their kids sweets, grand-parents still poison their grandchildren bu giving them sweets and that will continue no matter what evidence is put in front of them showing the harm done to the child by such acts of “kindness”. Those hardened areas of dark fat residue on the old fryer, that’s what poly-unsaturated oil does - it does it to your fryer, to your kitchen and to you. Nina Teicholz: The Big Fat Surprise. Sad to say though smokers will still smoke, diesel drivers will still drive diesel cars and people will still poison themselves and their loved ones with vegetable oils.

I have the same model. The spinning panel just snapped in half. Nevermind I'm handy. A few drill holes and wire made it whole again
Ha ha pleased you fixed it ok.

Lol I brought one on the strength of your review 🤣😅🤣
Thats great we are awaiting a new model to arrive
O No !! your actifry is in a bad state. Operates?
Have new one now.
this product is amazing. we have 3 of them. we broke 1 before. normal fryers are unhealthy, i don't like oily taste at all.
I aggree.
They are only unhealthy if you use the sort industrial cooking compounds that are sold in supermarkets. Use beef fat (lard).
