      I got a curly perm in high school a Nuvacurl it was soo beautiful omg. But after the 3rd retouch my hair just started breaking soo bad. Not sure why it started breaking but it just wouldn't stop. To the point I had to transition back to being natural. I was natural before and I was about 14, my hair was soo long and thick. Just a bit shorter than the girl in the video. Yea these treatments are soo damaging ladies be careful before you go this route, it doesn't end well for everyone.

    Since they're double processing your hair, you might want to start using a half and half blend of the Nairobi Nair-plex keratin protein treatment and the nairobi prota-sil reconstructor & strengthening treatment to help rebuild the bonds in your hair every two or three weeks, followed by a good deep conditioner under the dryer for 30 minutes like the melanin hair care one. That's why all that hair came out. Choosing a style that requires controlled damage takes a lot more effort. That's why I don't bleach my hair or relax it anymore.

I switched it up at the age of 15 to 35 and would only use the phase 1, which was the straightener and would oil, flatiron and wear silk body wraps. My hair stayed flawless and you’d never knew I had a wave nouveau unless I told u because I never used the curling rods and would treat my hair as if I had a regular perm. No damage was NEVER done to my hair…. At age 35, I finally decided I wanted to go natural, so I finally stop getting the wave nouveau and transition 1 1/2yrs and cut off the processed end and here I am 2yrs natural now 🥳 and I love it!!!!!

    It looks like the 1st process was an overprocess. It's not very curly at all. When I was in cosmetology I did a number of texturizers and Jerri curls. Before adding the "Jerri curl juice" it looks like natural curly hair and not loose waves unless it's overprocessed. I would know because my leave out(heatdamged) will not coil like the rest of my hair only wave. This is identical to getting a relaxer. This reminds me of those Brazilian blowouts, pretty but super damaging

    • @normalouis8593
      @normalouis8593 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      This is rooted from japanese straight perms not jerri curls or what we know as curly perms, she needs the hair bonds to be broken as much as possible in order to shape it with the curl rods (if it is not broken enough, there will be frizz and lack of definition, once she washes the neutralizer out and removes the rods the bonds that weren't broken enough will revert to how her hair was before, creating inconsistencies). It is ok to break them that much because once the neutralizer is added the bonds will form into the shape of the curl rods.
      Japanese straightening is known for being the least damaging (when done correctly and NOT overlapped or over processed) and least harmful (in terms of chemicals it contains, especially compared to relaxers)

    At 2:46 the reason more hair came out than normal is because there are using the wrong detangling tool on your hair and they should detangle from the end up not from the scalp to the ends.

    • @msk3839
      @msk3839 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It’s because her hair is long. The longer the hair, the more elongated the curl.

    • @jaeshasway
      @jaeshasway 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@msk3839 This isn’t consistent with other curly perms. There’s another girl with long hair with a GCurl that has ringlets. Only one I have seen so far, and another with medium length that has them. It’s what made me think seriously about it. I have also seen many with short or medium hair with more waves than curls. I’m curious because there’s a black stylist in Houston that’s doing this now so I’m considering it. I really want more ringlet type waves, like my natural hair but looser, if that makes sense. I’m thought curl pattern my play a part, but if the curl pattern is technically relaxed away, the smallest rod should produce more than just a wave. I’m not saying they have to be tight, but look more like 3C or loose 4A all over, or at least for the most part. I know girls who get curly perms on bone straight hair and the rod determines the curl pattern. It’s probably the chemical. In order to prevent over processing maybe it’s not as strong as the chemical used on naturally bone straight hair. Idk, it’s why I asked. 🤦🏽‍♀️

    • @StayUniquee
      @StayUniquee  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jaeshasway Good question. I'm not sure. Everyones hair seems to take this process differently. To me it seems like a common trend is those with more dense hair & coarse strands hold the curls better. Also people with shorter hair because longer hair weighs down and elongates the curl. If you do decide to get it and want tighter curls, your best bet is to get a smaller rod size. I believe smallest to largest are red --> yellow --> blue --> pink --> grey --> white. When I went the first time, I was told that a lot of people get grey and pink, which may be why you see more waves than curls for some people.

    I absolutely LOVE your honest transparent videos. ThankYou THANK You for taking time out of your super busy schedule to do this. It has influenced me to make this move too!
    Your lashes are also amazing! I'd like yo try them for my 1st time. Do u mind sharing what you do and the name of yours? They look so nice and accentuates your natural beauty. Sincerely... Wendye.
    P.S. I plan to use your coupon code when I hear back from HTS.

      Aww thank you soo much🥺💙 unfortunately I don’t know where the lashes are from because I took them from my moms bathroom lol.. but they were the super cheap ones (like the ones you get for free when you buy hair bundles) I just put a ton of mascara to make them look better. I usually like to get 3D lashes from my local beauty supply store

    Serious question, if you want curly hair why not try extensions or weaves that are similar to the texture you want instead of going through a long process to mimic curly hair ?

    If you don’t keep the Jheri curl moisturized all of the time, it will shed and break off easily. Getting a TexLax is easier to manage than this.

    Such great results! I have a question and maybe I missed it in the video but is there a smell associated with Gina Curl? As in does the smell linger in your hair and if so, for how long? Only asking because my mom was a hairdresser and used to do wave nouveau and the smell could be over powering… anyway thanks for the video!

    Is it the way she’s styling (or not styling) it that makes it look so dry and damaged? The curls aren’t consistent. Its frizzy. Is it the products she is/isn’t using? I may just be a hater in this situation bc I had my face frowned up at the entire video like “people want dry/brittle 3abc hair???” Reminded me of when white girls said we made wigs out of their hair. Nobody wants that limp shit that grows out their scalp.

    • @StayUniquee

      Great question. Last time I think the back curled better than the front so I wanted to get the front tighter this time to even it out (yellow is smaller than blue). Next time I’ll likely just get all yellow!
