      @@willnill7946 how else will you establish law and order? stability is necessary for great ideas to flourish. killing the neighbouring kings was a way to establish stability. the sartrap system upholded local customs so that the elite that wasn't Persian/median wouldn't rebel and start civil war. that's pretty genius. a bigger market means a more diverse circulation of wealth. relative more prosperity for all of those living near the centres of commerce. having a bad harvest? ship some extra grain surplus over from Egypt so that the people in mesopotamia don't starve. for the first time in history people weren't completely handed over to the forces of nature. hence zoroastrianism was able to promote the idea of free will. without big empires these ideas would not be written down. it simply goes against tribal/clan ideas of life. that's why they call him Great

      The main reason they do so is because they learn generally more local History
      The same way an Indian man could probably tell me all about the Mughal empire and Persia and A European wouldn’t know
      And a European could tell you of the war of Spanish succession , the napoleonic wars , Rome , or the battle of Hastings and an Indian man would know nothing
      That’s generally how it goes
      As a European I personally almost nothing about the American revolution whilst an American could probably spend an hour explaining every detail of it lmao
      Your quite mistaken if you think the west is this evil Eurocentric system when in reality it isn’t
      Just do history in College and university and you’ll learn about almost all great empires of history such as China , Japan Mongols , Mughals , Persians , ottoman , Endless European wars and countries , colonialism etc etc
      And unlike what for some reason many people think
      No colonialism and the European colonial empires aren’t portrayed in good ways and supported , that’s a ridiculous claim
      They’re either betrayed as evil slave traders or take a more balanced accurate approach of teaching both the good and bad of the empires
      But back to the topic , yes you learn mutch more than just European empires in the west
      And the main reason the west usually focuses on the Greeks and Romans is because of the heavy cultural Effects it has today
      Even in the medieval ages a man may know of the legend of the Spartan and definitely of the great Roman Empire
      Same way Middle Eastern countries focus of their local empires such as Persia or the great Muslim caliphate or the Turkish Migrstion , because hey all have Heavy culture influence that last till today
      Same in Japan with them knowing 9f the legendary samurai , the Shogunates systems , the “age of the country at war” and the Imperial and Shogunate civil war
      Etc etc

      @ठाकुरेंद्र सहस्त्रबाहु I am referring to a particular nation instead of group of people. Indo Aryans/Vedic Aryans in your post were groups of people(ethnicity) that formed many small nations but not a unified, single empire with immense size and managed to project power in various regions.

    • @heavenwatcher100
      @heavenwatcher100 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @ठाकुरेंद्र सहस्त्रबाहु en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Ten_Kings You are referring to this battle? I have heard Rigveda though but very cursively. It's surprising to learn some belligerents were associated with Persian, Scythian, and etc. Even us Chinese pilgrim Xuan Zang acknowledged the presence of one of the kingdoms. So I guess that's the reasoning for you. But documents at that time were quite scarce and we all know India split to 16 kingdoms shortly afterward until the unification by a true superpower I would be confident to acknowledge, the Maurya Empire. But still, thank you for the extra information. Maybe you can help assess the info below?
      Proofs:
      1. War broke out between 10 kingdoms with large scale battles involved. (Thus not a small skirmish.)
      2. Some of the kingdoms were associated with Persian, Scythian. One confirmed by Chinese. So diplomatically it was influential around the world instead of a purely civil war in the subcontinent.
      3. A king managed to subdue other kings in the end, thus making him the de-facto king of kings or having an equivalent amount of prestige and power of an emperor.
      Skepticism:
      1. India not truly unified into one empire with a powerful central government, but rather loosely bounded by the personal prestige of the winning king.
      2. India split shortly afterward, making the achievement very short-lived before managing to expand outwards to other regions in Eurasia until the Maurya Empire.
      3. Not enough documentation especially serious historian accounts besides oral sagas like Rigveda.

    Korosh Kabir ( Cyrus the Great) was one of the greatest strategists of all time. He is one of the few who truly deserve the epithet of "Great". Cyrus was precisely the opposite of the "Principe" idealized by Machiavelli.
    While Rome was still only a insignificant city-state in Lazio during the governments of the Kings Servius Tullius and Tarquinius Superbus; Cyrus had aldready founded the first global Empire in history. With the exception of Egypt ( which was conquered and defeated by his son Cambyses II at Pelusium, transforming it in the new satrap of Mūdraya), Cyrus defeated and conquered three of the four major empires that controlled the Middle East and Asia Minor in the VI century BCE: Lydia under Croesus ( the main power of Anatolia and the traditional enemy of the Medes); Babylon ( the largest city of the Middle East, Which was already in decline since Nebuchadnezzar's death), and Astyages' Media ( the Empire that destroyed Niniveh and put an end to the Assyrian Empire in 612 BC).
    • Lydia would become the satrapies of Yaunā ( which included Ionia and Caria) and Sparda ( Lydia itself, whose capital was Sardis).
    • Media would become the satrapie of Māda.
    • Babylon ( Bābirūs), on the other hand, would become the richest satrapie of all.
    As for Egypt, pharaoh Psamtik III ( the last pharaoh of the XXVI dynasty), inherited an isolated Empire in the political context of the Middle East. The Persian conquests of Lydia ( 546 BC); Media ( 549 BC); and Babylon ( 539 BC) during the rule of Pharaoh Amasis, however, left Egypt completely isolated ( which the final blow was Cambyses' conquest at Pelusium).
    Following Croesus' defeat at the Battle of Thymbra, the conquest of Lydia and Ionia by Cyrus ( now the Turkish provinces of Īzmir; Aydin; Uşak and Manisa), in turn, were a considerable blow against the Ionian Greeks ( and especially for the Twelve cities-states of Ionia):
    • Miletus/Μίλητος ( "the cradle of philosophy"/Το λίκνο της φιλοσοφίας);
    • Ephesus/Έφεσος;
    • Teos/Τέως;
    • Klazomenai (Κλαζομεναί);
    • Myus/Μύος;
    • Colophon/Κολοφώη;
    • Priene/Πριήνη;
    • Erythrae/ Έφνεραι;
    • Phocaea/Φώκαια;
    • Lebedus/Λέβεδος;
    •Chios/Χίος;
    • Samos/Σάμος.
    In addition of Ionia; Lycia ( now the Turkish provinces of Antalya and Mūgla); Cilicia ( now the Turkish provinces of Adana and Osmaniye), and Phoenicia ( which would become the base of the Persian fleet under Darius) were also conquered by Cyrus and his major general Arbaku ( Harpagus).
    The Empire created by Cyrus and consolidated by Darius ( Darāyavahush) laid the foundation for all subsequent Empires. The administration of the Empire in satraps/provinces, for example, was adopted by the Roman Empire in its PROVINCIAE ( provinces). In addition, the TOTAL respect of the Achaemenid Empire for the customs; religions and traditions of the conquered peoples ( something unpublished until that time), however, were NOT a political game, but it was thanks to the strong Zoroastrian influence. By Zoroastrian Influence, slavery was abolished in the Achaemenid Empire ( something unthinkable for the Greeks, Assyrians; Egyptians, and Babylonians). The Achaemenid Empire, in my view, was not only really GREAT in military, territorial and cultural matters, but also morally.

      Persians did participate in the administration, but so did the Babylonians in the Achaemenid Empire :

      They also deeply influenced the culture of that same empire :

      There's a certain number of differences I think. For one thing; the Chinese civilization is much more self-contained, meaning that it was the only antecedent to itself. Persia on the other hand, like all nations both in the Middle East and Europe, built extensively on the much older heritages of the Near East :
      www.iranicaonline.org/articles/babylonia-ii
      Another difference is that, thanks to its geographical isolation, China maintained a civilizationnal
      continuity starting from the Zhou dynasty (I'm not sure if the Xia has been officially confirmed as historical) and continued throughout history : The Confucian classics continued to be extremely important, the writing system was the same, etc.
      The same degree of explicit continuity can't be seen in Middle Eastern nations.

      The translation of the Persian language masterpieces like the Divan of Hafez, the Shahnameh of Ferdowsi, the Gulistan of Saadi and the Rubaiyat of Khayyam in countries like France, England, Germany, and other European countries astounded the literary circles there Suddenly, the western literary forum faced extraordinary literary works, Saint - Beuve on seeing the Shahnameh of Ferdowsi said:
      "If we could realize that great works such as the Shahnameh exits in the world, we would not become so much proud of our own works in such a silly manner."
      Upon knowing Hafez, Goethe wished to be one of his disciples. He said: "O Hafez, your word is as great as eternity for it has no beginning and no end. Your word, as the canopy of Heaven, solely depends on itself. It is all signs, beauty, and excellence". After studying the lyric poems of Hafiz, Nitsche wrote: "O Hafez, you have created a tavern of philosophy greater than any worldly palace. In it, you provided a wine of grace and word beyond the capacity of the world to drink. The highest pinnacle of any mount is but a sign of your greatness and the unfathomable depth of any vortex is just a mark of your perfection, and the excellence of your word."

      As one of the great literatures of mankind the Persian literature has its roots in surviving works in Old Persian or Middle Persian. French poetess Comtesse de Noaille writes in her book, "The Enchanting Garden": " I read this point in the fragrant, pleasant and sad book the reading of which imparted an enchanting intoxication to me and I now know that an enchanting garden really exists and can be seen by the eyes. It is a garden that extends from the foot of the mountainous area named Saadi to Shiraz in Persia (Iran).
      O my soul would it be possible for my body to accompany you and fly to this paradise, where the nightingale frenzied with love sings from spring to summer; the tulips blossom; the air becomes fragrant; the evening breeze entrusts the roses to the winds and from atop the aspens, during the fiery summer, the winds twist while panting with burning breath. The town which is all metal, porcelain, and plaster, shines as bright as silver and gold. Every vaulted dome is like a blue fruit and the intertwining arcs are high points that cast their shadows with their enameled tiles and flowery turquoise design on waters below. "

      The translation of the ghazals of Hafez by Hammer in Germany, translation of Gulistan in France and the Rubaiyat of Khayyam in England by Fitzgerald, also the poems of Shahnameh by Vohl in France created a deep change in European literature. Other countries of Europe also became aware and cognizant of the precedence of Persia and the inspiring breeze of the Persian gardens. They came to know extraordinary men.
      This influence was so deep that among the highly valuable works of the individuals like Corneille, Racine, Volaire, Madeleine Scudery, Montesquieu and others, the influence is clearly noticed in their works such as Sorena, Rodgun, Khusrow, Mehrdad, and Bayazid and etc.
      Schlegel, in the preface to his translation of a part of Ferdowsi's Shahnameh into German, writes: To reach the real fountainhead of romanticism and be satiated with it one must travel to Persia. "

      Persian language is one of the oldest living languages. Persian literature is one of the world's oldest literature. The Persian literature described as one of the great literatures of humanity, and it is one of the four main bodies of world literature. Many great philosophers, poets, and scientists were inspired and influenced by the Persian language and literature, like
      For centuries, Iran (Persia) has been producing some of the world’s most influential and inspiring poets, whose works revolutionized the literature of both the East and the West. Spanning themes of love, divine mysticism, and human rights, their poetry is an incredible contribution to Persian culture and remains entirely relevant today. Every poet a different path and the Persian language helps this creativity. The Persian language is one of the most poetic, mystic and spiritual language in the world.
      The great Persian (Iranian) Poets: Khayyam, Ferdowsi, Hafez, Saadi, Attar, etc, are well known in the West and have influenced the literature of many countries. Khayyam was the Great Persian mathematician, astronomer, and poet. The Persian calendar is the most accurate calendar of the world and it was made by Khayyam. The Persian calendar became the official national calendar of Iran. The Persian calendar is more accurate than the Gregorian calendar.
      By the 1880s, Khayyam was extremely well known throughout the English-speaking world, to the extent of the formation of numerous "Khayyam Clubs" and a "fin de siecle cult of the Rubaiyat" Khayyam's poems have been translated into many languages. The asteroid was named "Khayyam" in 1980. The planet 3095 Khayyam was named in his honor in 1980 and the lunar crater Khayyam was named in his honor in 1970 as well. One of the holes in the moon was named in honor of "Khayyam".
      " Shahnameh ( The Epic of Kings ) by Ferdowsi, the greatest Persian (Iranian) poet is the world's longest epic poem created by a single poet and the national epic of Iran ( Persia ).
      The epic masterpiece itself is a treasure trove of drama and conflict consisting of sixty thousand verses, and paints an exquisitely rich tapestry of Iranian Heroes and Villains and Devils that, ultimately are deeply universal stories which continue to resonate even today, a thousand years later. These tales and characters can be compared to characters and stories in modern entertainment such as Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, and even Star Wars.
      Ferdowsi in the Shahnameh spans the history of Persia from mythical times until the Sassanid period in the 7th century, telling the tales of heroic blacksmiths, despotic rulers, and wicked demons who form the currents of good and evil which run throughout human history. Through his complex characters, Ferdowsi demonstrates the capacity for lightness and darkness and for happiness and unhappiness, in every being, encouraging his readers to actively take the side of good.

    There was a historian who said that the Islam of India, Central Asia and the Ottoman Empire was a Persian Islam: "Persian civilization, in the Ottomans, made its way to the gates of Vienna".
    Just like China, Greece and Rome, Persia continues to persist throughout history.
