      I don't think you understand how underpaid a lot of public sector workers are in line with inflation. There was a 10 year pay freeze in the public sector which has been followed by minimal rises in the past 5 yearsflr most of them. I know the usual argument is then people should go private sector and get a real job, but the reality is if everyone does that who will work in the public sector? Who will join the police, fire brigade, NHS, teachers, civil servants.... and without all of those, the everyday services that we all rely upon simply wouldn't exist and everything would immediately collapse. Plus its taxpayers who fund everything, and the public sector workers pay their taxes just like everyone else, in fact more so, because there is literally no way to hide anything. Do not conflate MPs with public sector workers because they are in no way the same.

    • @sas2300
      @sas2300 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@brianwillson9567there have been major changes to public sector pensions. The biggest scheme is the civil service and it has completely changed since 2022. It is not really index linked, you get a fixed annual amount based on your annual earnings over the whole of your career rather than final salary, making it a lower annual amount, there is no longer a lump sum unless you trade part of your pension pot in, you get nothing at all until your 67, soon it rises to 68, and the only way to take it early is to trade in a significant amount of its value.

Im sorry but people really need to put politics aside for a moment and accept reality. I would agree that MPs who have been convicted of crimes should be treated the same as other public sector workers and not receive pensions.

So we have oddly Truss like words ‘Growth, Growth, Economic Growth’, but so far really just ‘Spend, spend, spend’ because no one in the government has ever run a business. They understand regulation and spending. That is the extent of their experience.
