I read somewhere that this song was penned in relation to his wife/girlfriend, it came about after the phone conversations he used to have with her, while being on tour for long periods.
Love this song. A friend of mine has recently been introducing me to the music of Metallica and AC/DC. I was joyfully surprised to hear a reworked version of 'Nothing Else Matters' in Disney's Jungle Cruise.
James wasn’t going to produce this song, it was written to his girlfriend at the time, but the rest of his band mates wanted to record it, so here it is.
if Lars had his way, there wouldn't be music reactions on TH-cam and his audience would be a 100th of it's size if that. And your grandma would be in jail. Luckily for the world of music, we told Lars to stuff it.
TragicStatic328. As a former semi-pro musician whom also produced our own recordings, I always thought that drum sounds were the most important component, when it came to giving the impression of the overall quality of the recording/production - and at the time the black album was released, I thought the drum sound on that album was a new "high water mark" for a metal album. Cheers!
I can definitely answer your question about the drum sound they got on this album. The producer filled the studio with plywood- all over the walls- everywhere. The bass drums sound is blasting off all of the wood ( I've always loved the sound also) But that is how they achieved it...the drums sound like cannons over the whole album...I love that you picked up on it.
The strings section of *_Nothing Else Matters_** and *_Disarm°_* are the two songs that got me to love a strings section in Rock and all its sub-genres.🎻
do you have an effects processor and triggers or mics on your drums? he could be using the eq to bump the bottom of those drums. you can also deaden them a little them push the gain a bit to make up for the punch. what you're hearing isn't raw drums it's being processed.
Die hard Metallica fans called them " sell outs " for doing this song & in a way they were right . They do sell out , everytime & everywhere they play .
Lars heard James playing this to himself on guitar and convinced him theyy needed to put it on the album. Gives great perspective to life in the ears of each listener. And gives the band a more well rounded appeal.
Great review! Great song! (DONT PAUSE in the SOLO! 🤦🏻) You should review their official video of the Song "One" that's a Song and a half! And a Video and a half! Properly like a mini-Movie it's so well written and put together! (Deeply meaningful and relevant storyline...) Cheers from London England 👍😎🏴
Metallica proves they are a band with range. From the slasher metal they play “Crash Course In Brain Surgery” to the more orchestral stuff on this album. 40 years of music.
There is a Howard Stern interview with Metallica where Elton John zooms in and talks about how much he loves this song. It almost brought Het to tears. This is a personal song that means a lot to him. I think Elton collaborated with Miley Cyrus and did a cover where he does a piano solo instead of a guitar solo.
For a heavier song try-creeping death-live from moscow-1991- i love the entire -black album but creeping death is one of my new favs. Great band. Just saw them live in daytona bout a yr ago-9/21. Still sounding great soo many yrs ltr. Last saw them in 1995. Great great band. Imo!!
Metallica is great. One of my favorite bands but I'm biased towards the earlier stuff. If you have not checked out the following song(s), I'd recommend it - though not sure if you'd really like it but I know Metallica fans would also like it :) From the Kill 'em all album: The four horsemen Whiplash (my favorite on the album) Seek and destroy Metal millitia
Early on I heard some heavier Metallica stuff and decided I didn't like them, so never listened to any more. Normally I would have passed on this reaction, but something made me tune in and listen. I REALLY like this song very much. I am very pleasantly surprised. Kudos to them for the variety of sound. I will listen to more. Still not crazy for the heavy metal stuff - just not my taste. I prefer bluesy rock usually. Thank you.
Hello ✌️from there on you gotta move to the heavy stuff...enter sandman is good Gateway-heavyness,maybe master of puppets later along the way(which is also very melodic👌) Cheers
Play her Turn the Page, a Bob Seger cover by Metallica. The video is depressing as heck but they do the song justice. Thanks for having a cool channel to watch!
Your next Metallica song should be Enter Sandman, if you haven't already reacted to it. There is also a live version with one of the biggest crowd of audience
They don't get that heavy? You apparently haven't heard Dyers Eve, Damage Inc, Disposable Heroes, Battery and basically the WHOLE And Justice for All album. It's MUCH more heavy than any "Screamo" I promise.
Good song, but this isn’t Metallica. This is something the aliens morphed them into after they appropriated them. Gotta’ go back many years, to hear the real Metallica…Real shit…
I agree on both counts. It’s not the Metallica plenty of us fell in love with. But, it’s a great song. Recently, Elton John called it one of the best songs ever written (on Howard stern). Kind of crazy.
This is Metallica instead of hating them for being versatile why not try praising them they are human they have emotions they don't just head pain as much as you want them to and it's okay to like their first albums but if they didn't change their style I'm pretty sure that first album would look pretty boring right about now 30 years later why do you think so many bands that were never able to change or adapt don't sell out no more people don't care about them no more Metallica is a great band one of the best because they are versatile because they can make you thrash and then give you a ballot in and have it sound just as good as the trash have the thrash sound just as good as the ballad the real Metallica you sound stupid when you say that
Never pause during a guitar solo...especially one as beautiful as this one
word
Pause away.
Saw your comment and moved on 🙂
Lmao 🤣
Never be serious during a reaction video
I read somewhere that this song was penned in relation to his wife/girlfriend, it came about after the phone conversations he used to have with her, while being on tour for long periods.
Metallica is the best band ever formed. They're still pumping out bangers 40 years later.
Even if you don't like metallica you have to admire the business side and the ability to stay together for so many years
if Lars had his way, there wouldn't be music reactions on TH-cam and his audience would be a 100th of it's size if that. And your grandma would be in jail. Luckily for the world of music, we told Lars to stuff it.
Any song from the black album has that kit it’s the best sounding I’ve ever heard. So sad but true or holier than now

In the words of Lars during an interview where he was asked if they sold out he replied yes every show.

have a great day you two!!
one of my favorites
“Of Wolf and Man” is my personal favorite from the black album.
The strings section of *_Nothing Else Matters_** and *_Disarm°_* are the two songs that got me to love a strings section in Rock and all its sub-genres.🎻
*Metallica, °The Smashing Pumpkins
you guys are amazing
Great reaction!!!
“PNEUMA” DRUM CAM by TOOL LIVE FROM BOSTON, ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE🔥
Cheers from Texas!!
From the video i've seen, this kit was a hodge-podge of pieces put together for recording, i couldn't tell you the specs on it.
Try ¨Wherever i may roam¨ same album, if you like this kind of vibe!
High level..awesome,peacefull🫠

If you liked this song, you will like their song Hero Of The Day.
Die hard Metallica fans called them " sell outs " for doing this song & in a way they were right . They do sell out , everytime & everywhere they play .
For me i love the S&M version.
Lars heard James playing this to himself on guitar and convinced him theyy needed to put it on the album. Gives great perspective to life in the ears of each listener. And gives the band a more well rounded appeal.
Great song and reaction. Sad But True is another killer track by Metallica....
Enter sandman is one of my favorite.
You want heavy Metallica...."Disposable Heros" or "Dyers Eve"
You guys done ' disposable heroes' yet. There's some lightening guitar n drums
Great review! Great song! (DONT PAUSE in the SOLO! 🤦🏻)

This started as a love song ended up being for the fans, but you can still sing it to wifey for sure.
1.5 BILLION TH-cam HITS - Guys you got to check out “Human” by RAG N BONE MAN, it’s a Modern Classic, the Vocals WOW 😮
Guitars are tuned to E and Jason played a regular aria pro bass live!
Also the footage is a combo of the recordings of the black album from E to drop D!
Imo!!
That high-hat sounds like high quality brass on the top with a cheap copper on the bottom simmer to the copper crash symbol
Great song for all 3 verses being the same line
Metallica is great. One of my favorite bands but I'm biased towards the earlier stuff. If you have not checked out the following song(s), I'd recommend it - though not sure if you'd really like it but I know Metallica fans would also like it :)
From the Kill 'em all album:
The four horsemen
Whiplash (my favorite on the album)
Seek and destroy
Metal millitia
Lol. They get real heavy. Gotta go back to the early albums
Big boy guitar there
I like Metallica's slow stuff a lot better than their harder stuff. This is a great song that stands among the best of any era.
I'm not a fan of this song but I have to give them credit for expanding their audience to bring in younger people. Lighters up!!
He uses both 16" and 22" Bass drums.
Early on I heard some heavier Metallica stuff and decided I didn't like them, so never listened to any more. Normally I would have passed on this reaction, but something made me tune in and listen. My top 3 Metallica songs are Unforgiven, Nothing Else Matters, and Enter Sandman.
Like your shirt ... Mama Said...is a country type Metallica song
Dire Straits (Alchemy live - sultans of Swing)
For some good old drumming? From New Zealand good reaction, thank you!!!
You play the drums the listen to Ride the lightning. Lars the drummer spazzes out. See if you can get those sticks moving like that. 😆
Next “the unforgiven” another good one.
Hello ✌️from there on you gotta move to the heavy stuff...enter sandman is good Gateway-heavyness,maybe master of puppets later along the way(which is also very melodic👌)
Cheers
You should do now that we're dead a lot of double kick in that song
Play her Turn the Page, a Bob Seger cover by Metallica. The video is depressing as heck but they do the song justice. Thanks for having a cool channel to watch!

@@thedominator87 Okay. Not waiting on pin and needles...but thanks 😂

Your next Metallica song should be Enter Sandman, if you haven't already reacted to it. There is also a live version with one of the biggest crowd of audience
The technical Beauty of this is trump
They don't get that heavy? You apparently haven't heard Dyers Eve, Damage Inc, Disposable Heroes, Battery and basically the WHOLE And Justice for All album. It's MUCH more heavy than any "Screamo" I promise.
