I love this so much and I hope it's not an April Fool's joke 😀 Labels will make it so much easier for me to find things that I'm looking for but being able to use them for automations basically means you'll never have to update an automation again! Add and remove devices to your heart's content, and the automation will always be automatically updated!

Still waiting for this update in the USA (guess you got an early release). This will be very helpful.

Which AI software did you use to create the images of the rooms?

Why call them floors though? It seems like the wrong name. There’s other reasons you group areas beside floors. And I know it doesn’t matter what the field is called, it just seems wrong.

Too many people had had different opinions. So it is what it is. I am glad this discussion is finished and we got something. Personally, i'll use labels mostly.

1st floor, 2nd floor, ground floor, etc (is this the thought behind them?)

Being this specific has some merits. You can automatically understand where the areas are - so when you way 1st floor, it will understand the context. Labels are great, because they are generic, but they miss this context. Anyway, maybe I am trying to find reasons (excuses). I also feel some of that might be a bit redundant, as they were trying to find a compromise that fits all. For me, labels would be enough, but for someone else labels are perhaps useless. Will see where it will evolve over the time.

@@bruxy70 we’ll see, like you say. But there are obvious use cases for grouping areas which aren’t floors, such as a granny flat (UK thing) with multiple rooms. It would be contrived to group such a collection of areas as a “floor”.
Labels definitely look like the way to go. They should meet every use case since they are not specific.
      Anyway, time will tell. 😀

What else would one call a grouping of areas? I have an unusual use case in that I have a duplex each with 3 floors, then 2 major outbuildings on the property... so I'll end up making 8 floors to manage it... but god it will make things alot simpler in the long run.
