I’ve known my wife since I was 12 years old. I’ve felt this way for her since day 1. I am still happily married at 40 years old. She is my heart strength and soul. This song still brings a tear to my eyes every time.
This song plus your comment broke me. My father and mother started dating when she was 13 he was 16 (1963), they dated for four years and he went to Vietnam, before he left they got married. My mother passed away in 2005, the night she passed I found my dad with a bottle of whiskey listening to this song. I commend you and your wife for your happy marriage, that has taken and still does, a lot of hard work. If I can add anything for any couple, after watching my parents for the 22 years I had with both, especially in the last days; Make sure she hears you and sees that you love her, but I think more importantly, if you have kids- let them see you flirt and love on their momma. My parents were from an older generation and if I hadn’t been able to see my father care for my mother those last two weeks, I don’t know if I would have believed they were in love. But they definitely were and my dad was never the same.
The look on his face when the song got to the part of "Cause his momma's fading fast and Johnny hit his knees". He went from I'm loking this song...to I'm about to cry in a micro-second.
I was in college when it came out. Several friends and I were spending a weekend at the beach the first time we heard it on the radio. Picture 6 18-20 year old girls driving down the road crying so hard we could barely breathe.

One of my all time favorite country songs. It catches everyone off guard the first time and i still get goosebumps every time i hear it. That being said, most people (including myself) dont realize that Tim is NOT just repeating the opening lines at the end of the song. It's actually Johnny and his girl (she survived) taking the new little Johnny fishing. You can even see the girl/mom run up to them at the end if you watch the official music video.
During the second verse when he said, "Wow, that just took a turn for worse," I thought, "If he only knew..." Meanwhile, I've got my tissues ready. 😁😭😭😭

We got married, had a beautiful baby girl and he died of cancer on New Year’s Eve 2017. Highway don't care was written for his girls from the perspective of a father that no matter what it isn't worth being unsafe and losing your life. Such a great song and message
When this song came out I thought it was so cool that Taylor and Tim were singing together since one of her earliest songs was titled Tim McGraw. It's a great song.
Don't take the girl hits me cause my wife was sick when she was pregnant with my son. When he was delivered he didn't breath right away, but 14 years later his mom and I could not be prouder. Everyone is fine.

I swear don’t take the girl is one of my top 2 all time favorite country songs and no matter how hard I try to not cry I cry every single time I hear that song!!!!
I consider myself a pretty solid person and Don't take the girl is the only song i've ever heard or hear that makes me cry... yeah i said it come at me
1st time I heard this I was wearing my bright yellow impact resistant Sony walkmanon driving a forklift loading a truck. Already taking flack for being a woman working in a warehouse loading trucks and wearing headphones 🎧 was a no-no. They debuted the song on WXTU 92.5. I stopped that lift in the truck and balled my eyes out. The driver was in the cab and apparently listening to the same station. He was crying I was crying.... omg. 30 years later, I still cry when I hear it. And yes, wiping tears away as I type.
I’ve only heard Don’t Take the Girl once before. High school auditions, and someone sang it. I sobbed. It’s been nearly ten years, and this is the first time I’ve heard it since. Crying again.
NO, SHE DID DIE. The girl at the end seen with the picnic basket was another little 8 year old girl who is going fishing with the now 8 year old baby, named Johnny like his father, just like the start of the song, basically history repeating with the new generation. THE WIFE DIES, and the story repeats. Seriously, you can easily google the information about the truth of this song and its video.
@@killinglonliness88 You should watch the video again. It is the same girl throughout the video. Also, and I am trying to say this in the most appropriate way as possible, she has boobs lol PLUS, as you said.. seriously, you can just google this stuff... this is from googling it...The music video shows that Johnny's wife does indeed survive as she is seen in the last scene running to meet Johnny and his little boy with a picnic basket. The song ends with a repeat of the song's opening line: "Johnny's daddy was taking him fishin' when he was eight years old".
First time I listen to Tim McGraw don't take the girl when I was in my first year in college . . This song came on when my oldest brother Kenny was in a coma after getting hit in the army . . Your face and your eyes when you realized what the song was saying broke my heart. You really felt this song and it looked like you had someone in mind that if that happened to her you would react the same. RESPECT TO YOU
You know country music cuts to heart of life. And sometimes it's gut wrenching. BTW Tim is lookin' HOT! That last song leaves you to imagine what finally happened. Most of us assume the best. But the fact we will never know is one of country music's mysteries.
If you watch the official video it shows the mother fushing with them... So happy ending to a VERY VERY emotional song... LOVE your reactions.. Your AWESOME...

I cry everytime I hear Don't Take the Girl............................so happy you liked it!
“He knows you never charge your cell phone.” 😂😂 You killed me!
Dont take the girl makes me cry EVERYTIME!!!
I consider myself a pretty solid person and Don't take the girl is the only song i've ever heard or hear that makes me cry... yeah i said it come at me
KainCrazyboi this song, Love Me by Collin Raye, What do you Say by Reba, and How can I help you say Goodbye by Patti Loveless
You haven't heard "Whiskey Lullaby" I bet.
"Don't Take the Girl" was the first song of Tim's I ever heard when I was a kid.
In the video she lives. God answered his prayer. He ends up taking his son fishing with his wife there. 👍
Both the writer and Tim said she lived
@@killinglonliness88 You should watch the video again. It is the same girl throughout the video. Also, and I am trying to say this in the most appropriate way as possible, she has boobs lol PLUS, as you said.. seriously, you can just google this stuff... this is from googling it...The music video shows that Johnny's wife does indeed survive as she is seen in the last scene running to meet Johnny and his little boy with a picnic basket. The song ends with a repeat of the song's opening line: "Johnny's daddy was taking him fishin' when he was eight years old".
@@killinglonliness88 the girl at the end is a grown woman lol they named their kid Johnny
KillingLonliness88 this did not work out for you
“The dope thing about this song right, is if a woman is in this stage; Fellas we still got a shot” 😂

First time I listen to Tim McGraw don't take the girl when I was in my first year in college . . This song came on when my oldest brother Kenny was in a coma after getting hit in the army . . It's definitely a super sad song.

Your reaction commentary interrupts the mood. I'm listening at 1.5x speed totally shattering the feel of the song... "don't take the girl" STILL drew tears.

You need to react to "Long Black Train" by Josh Turner
The late great man in black, Johnny Cash, is the original on that I think!!!
Very deep and moving song
Agreed please!
You know country music cuts to heart of life. And sometimes it's gut wrenching. BTW Tim is lookin' HOT! That last song leaves you to imagine what finally happened. Most of us assume the best. But the fact we will never know is one of country music's mysteries.
Don’t take the girl has been one of my favs since I was a kid when it came out and it still makes me cry every time I hear it.
You Should Also React To “Concrete Angel” by Martina McBride
Ohhh The feels.
He might fall out of his chair listening to Concrete Angel

It's a PSA ❤
Oh really? I didn't know that. That's awesome. Thanks for sharing 😁🧡

South Alabama rocks.. I'm also from L.A. hahaha
I personally think you should have reacted to the official video of Don't Take The Girl. It really gets you going by seeing the stuff happening.
Don't Take the Girl is a perfect example of country music to me. It tells a story, it makes you feel emotions, and it easily gets stuck in your head. It's been number 1 on my list of fav sad songs since i first heard it.
It's weird cause Taylor Swift's first hit was a song called "Tim McGraw" 😂
@JASON VOORHEES you need to calm down
@JASON VOORHEES I'm not a fan of hers, so your pathetic attempt at "trolling" has FAILED EPICALLY

He ain't ready for that
You're such a softie!! Def check out the suggestion below..."He Stopped Loving Her Today", by George Jones.
Good choices here with Tim McGraw. (He is baseball player Tug McGraw's son)
I love and cry at this song each time I hear it. It reminds me of my best friend in high school who recently married and then was in a tragic car accident only a few months later and he passed away and she barely made it. Ironically that was their song before the accident.
It just shows how like change just with blink of an eye go from fun to scary to losing that person you care so much shows life is short.
How about some Keith Urban , Blue aint your color, my personal favorite!
Tina Slater go into his videos. He reacted to it not too long ago.
My favorite country song
That song is a classic, hard to believe it's 25 yrs old.
Do Indian Outlaw....
