A five hour soak in water + chemicals to loosen)/dissolve the dirt (using detergent and whatever else you wish to add so long as it doesn't also dissolve the washing machine). The motor actively agitates the tub at the beginning. After that, the motor spins up for a short time after progressively longer intervals. Found this on the Panasonic Malaysia website. Cleaning an extremely filthy machine in a rental apartment. Was wondering why the process is taking so long. This short video answers all questions.
For those worried they are seeing "--" in their timer when tub hygiene starts, sometimes some models do not register more than 1 hour in the display, they can only read up to 60 (minutes) in timer display, so as long as they washing machine starts moving, I think you are already safe and sound.

It is important to always make sure ur washer tub is clean.. So for next wash, the dirt is away and wont stuck on clothes
rightt.. or else u will feel itchy.. i found out about panasonic washer and its so good!! the tub can be cleaned auto as well
