hello Kenny, those 6L80s are a pain, the converters go and put metal everywhere, you can kiss the pump goodby and it is part of the whole front case, also the tcm will be junk and just about everthing else, I have put these on my do not repair list, get an older truck with a 4 speed, they can be fixed
Merry Christmas How do you feel about transmission’s that don’t last very long? It’s unusual for transmission to die after 120,000 miles how did they destroy it so fast?
I have a 2017 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD and the torque converter went out at 78,000 miles. Chevy torque converters are garbage! Hopefully in the future things will get better. I also currently have a 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD 4 x 4 6.0L gas truck with non active fuel management and that transmission has been flawless with no issues. I do my own fluid changes in shifts smooth like it was brand new.
Hey kenny! With all your years doing transmission swaps, what companies out there that rebuild them properly and actually upgrade them to better specifications? Meaning better quality parts . I just want to know in the future so I know who to purchase from who's going to be legit. Never had any issues from GM but just wondering if there's companies out there that actually rebuild them better than factory. Thanks! For the videos I'm a subscriber.
yes I agree, GM trans guy here, what were they thinking? the 4L60e was good and most GM transmissions were ok until this thing, I will not even look at one again
@@JimSix-jo6hf 4l slippy. The good thing about the 4l60 was parts were cheap. You could rebuild one for parts cost of $500 with a converter. 6l80 is 2-3x that.
@@mph5896 yes and that tcm that is inside of the 6L80 will go bad with any internal problem, I think 3x is not enough, 10x is more like it, I will never try to repair one again, it just costs too much
Rookie mistake by another TH-cam content creater, you would have thought that after your other latest mess with the frt timing cover/ oil pump you would have learned but I guess not. 😢😢
I have two Toyota tacoma a 03 has 200.000 miles on it and a 2017 with 35000 miles on it iam 76 years old that 17 is the last new truck i will ever on 😂
Thanks Kenny! Merry Christmas and God bless y'all

Merry Christmas to you and your family Kenny !
Modern trash can't even make it to 150k without a major failure.
🙌 💯
Yes , it can.
@gertscheper9653 No, they can't.
That one,use the blue label Mobil 1 LVHP fluid in place of the Dexron 6 with the replacement transmission too
About the life of those transmissions Faulty from the factory
The torque converter failed and destroyed the pump. Common failure on these.
Aint got no gas in it!
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all.
Guess they were trying to reset everything, who knows except the customer. Merry Christmas again y'all 😊

These are piece of junk Torque convertor issues i had 2013 Chevy Tahoe same issue .
6L80s are generally known to be one of the worst transmissions gm made
You have to be a good detective
My 1983 Chevy Silverado still drives like lightning! 🤣🤣🤣
same here my 91 GMC 1500 LIKE A ROCK .
Merry Christmas

they are just a bad transmission that can not be repaired just like a CVT

Yikes! 😮
Heyyy Mr. Kenny. One way you can tell if the customer cleared the codes are if the monitors are ready or not.
To Kenny yes sir I did hear that strange noise
Where do you get your transmission's from?

Sell another transmission job right at Christmas good great wonderful.
GM claims chainge the fluid
That may be, but it won't fix this issue. Keep wrenching 🔧 Kenny
The worst transmission ever made the GM 6l80
Nissans CVT would take some beating for Crap. I'll stick with a 6 speed manual, not any auto for me.
