I make organic shapes (medical task trainers) in Nomad Sculpt and then bring them into Shapr3D to make 3d printed mold boxes to cast them with silicone. This saves so much time over traditional SFX clay sculpting and resin/fiberglass molding.
@@DraftID I snatch affinity up the second I found out about. I want to support any non sub based companies I can. Sad to see they sold to Canva though :(
I don’t see a problem with subscriptions because developers needs to eat and pay bills too. But the problem is the insane price for that subscriptions considering that we may be subscribed to many services. They should set a price between $5-$9 monthly they would make more money by getting more people in the game.
@@DiegutzoAgreed 100%. I have no problem paying for a subscription but the most I’m willing to pay is about €10/$10 and that’s for an app that really brings something to the table.
So yeah I think in your position of needing a cad program on site, shapr is probably it. Its easy enough to pick up with little experience and yet powerful enough to grow with your needs. I think there is a free version now which is limited but will allow you to learn the app before dropping money on it
I’ve tried it several times and even did a year but it just lacks too much to be my only 3d modeling program and is too expensive to be a mobile only solution . It’s one of those things I’d gladly pay $100 a year for to have on my iPad but $300 is a game ender. I just ordered a powerful ultrabook to see how that works with F360 as my Mobil solution .
There is a version for your computer. I installed it today on my MacBook but I will stay with fusion. 2 projects in the free version end export in super low res is a dealbreaker. 300€ for a software that feels on Mac like you need a Apple Pencil for it is just hilarious. Fusion gives you 10 projects, full res export and texturing without restrictions is just WAY better than shapr
What CAM software would you suggest to use with Shapr3D? I've been researching this topic extensively. Have you tried different CAM programs with this? I'm excited to hear your ideas. Keep up the great videos... I just subscribed to your channel!
Thanks for watching. I don't have much experience with CAM but do with 3d printing. My work will be adding more machinery like a CNC so I hope to learn more in this area as the tools become available to me.
Fusion 360 …… for the price and its capabilities you can’t beat the bang for the buck. I’m a Sr cnc programmer in aero space with 17 years in the trade and honestly fusion will pack the most in for your money . So then you ask yourself is it worth getting shaper if you get fusion
Definitely not worth it in 2024 now they introduced history edit people can't delete sketches what causes a mess in workspace also after the adaption of history based parametric now is very very buggy laggy and I'm canceling mu subscription because is driving me crazy to use it on ipad
@@DraftID yes it's sad because I loved the app so much I used to promote it to people, I even made big projects design with it in the past with my ipad . Those same projects now is supper laggy to work with totally not reliable. On top of it this app isn't cheep, so i hate to pay so much money and be the beta tester
@@TenTypDaTyp unfortunately I don't know any I can recommend for ipad but I'm using fusion on Mac instead it's free the main reason I loved sharp3dwas because of its use ipad use untill they destroyed it

Sounds like a fun workflow! I’ve been wanting to put some time into nomad.
I’d love to see a video on this! Just started playing with Nomad and Shapr
I love nomad but have always used fusion for cad
man, I miss the days of actually buying something.
I know right! Buying something like Affinity suite was a refreshing change compared to being buried in subscriptions services.

Is your discord still active? I'm interested in joining but the link is invalid.
Thank you for the comment, might explain why I have had 0 people join haha. I'll update it asap and let you know.
Haha thx for the videos I’m new to 3D Design and find your content very helpful! Please let me know when the discord link is active.
I left a comment on your last shapr3d video, but you pretty much answered it on this one lol.

How Secure is your project in this program even if it’s the free version.
There is a limit of 2 projects that you can have active. How long they store that data? Im not sure, there is no mention.
@@DraftID thanks
Is this an ad for Shapr3d? Do you work for them?
Ill take that as a compliment but no
I was about to make the same comment. And it wasn’t a compliment. The pricing structure is ridiculous

You comfortably didn’t mention that fusion 360 has a free version. If you’re being paid by Shapr3D you should say it in your video
F360 has free but with limits.
Terrible limits.
Looking back at this comment and can’t believe I didn’t mention I was NOT paid by Shapr3d in any way.
@@DraftID same limits as shapr3d, max # of concurrent projects, so same same
the real problem for me as a free Shapr3D user is low-quality exports which idk if is a problem in fusion but other than that its fantastic
