That was a really good review. I especially appreciated seeing the cart in action AND being able to get a sense of the scale of the cart. I thought it was much smaller than it really is and seeing it next to other carts and other objects really helped. I think I figured out that I don't need as large (or expensive) a cart as I thought. Thanks!

Last year I bought the RG-6. LOVE IT!!! I took a piece of plywood and painted it with liquid rubber, for the base shelf. I also bought the bag for my stands and boom pole. Time will decide if the bag will last.

Solid cart its nice so you can build on the top too! I use one of those big wheel Beach carts. Got it for $45 bucks at target.

      Justin Phillip another idea:
On the top shelf you could add a little a thin edge on three sides (a long one and the two small sides). This edge could come above no more than an inch only. The purpose is that when you work you set in front of the long side without the edge and the edges around will prevent small items to fall down including small screws. Magliners have this

You can et a GripnGaff bag for it, i think they make ones for the R2. WTHen you can fit all your stands, sticks, poles in it and save a ton of space

All i would really like is some sort of clip on elastic net (for the sides) to prevent gear from falling out.

I upgraded from the RT-6 to the 12. They are great and versatile carts. I found the top shelf too much hassle to mount. Instead, I prefer the bag that hangs off the tall handle for hauling C-stands and light stands.

I wanna buy a cargo net instead of bungee cords but have yet to see a video of someone doing this.
Wonder if it’ll work better with the cargo net as far as securing gear?

I have the R12 and it's been a solid option for me for the past 8 years but it benefits greatly from the Grip n Gaff bag, and a bottom shelf I built out of scrap wood (covered in industrial carpet). I did purchase the extended top shelf, and that's been used about 10% of the time, just because I need to have it fully extended, and that makes it harder to wheel in and out of tight quarters. One thing to be aware of with the Rock n Rollers, they use plastic needle bearings for the wheels and plastic spacers, which are absolute garbage. Haul enough heavy loads over time and those will wear out. Best to buy a replacement set ASAP if you plan on using these with heavy cases.

I need a cart for my small car too. I can't decide which size to get. Are you still happy with the smallest one or do you wish you had gone a little bigger?

    • @JustinPhillip

this video is quite old at this point tbh. For the past year i've been using this (which actually does still fit in a car with seats that go down): kit.co/jpOnFilm/camera-cart

Thanks for the distraction from this craziness.
Off topic, just wondering if you can get support in the U.S. if you’re not working? Not much video production work in Australia at the moment but the government is going to give everyone out of work $1100 a fortnight plus early access to superannuation to get us through. Is the U.S. government giving financial help to those who need it?

      @@ozzmanzz - Not really. It's a once only payment of $1200.
If you are successful in applying for unemployment, the max you can get is around $400 per week, but most people won't even get close to that (I have friends that qualify for only $100 per week.)
There is a federal bonus of $600 a week, but that is about to stop.
Now, all of this is if you are able to get anything at all right now. I haven't received anything yet (and I'm approved for it) and I know people that have gone over 2 months and still haven't received anything.
In Nevada (I'm currently based in Las Vegas) they only set up the system for self employed (1099) people 2 weeks ago. Up until then we were just left in the cold.
Most of us are going into heavy credit card debt (with high interest fees) while we are waiting on unemployment pending status.
I'm originally from Australia as well, and the system here is not nearly as good as it is back there.
