The families that this goes on in place a lot of guilt on the child by using shame and what would happen to the family members including younger siblings. It happens to young boys as well but I've personally only heard one man talk about his situation. I've heard many women talking about things that happened to them including a couple that cooperated with their abuser because they were told if they didn't it would happen to their younger sister. It's horrible and learning that it happens so often I can understand why so many turn to drugs and alcohol. When those kids get older they are just seen as druggies and bums.
