I must say, Clara is one of the cutest and most fun women I’ve ever ‘met.’ If all Irish people are like her, I love the Irish! Thank you, Marina-this has become my favorite podcast! :) I still don’t know which culture from which country would fit me best, but maybe I will soon. Greetings from Germany!

A lot of this is more South Dublin than Ireland as a whole, which is definitely its own bubble separate from the rest of the city, never mind the country.

South Dublin and the D4 scene are often mixed up by outsiders though too ie non-Dubs

The resemblance between the Irish and the English in most of these respects is uncanny (e.g. tall poppy syndrome, banter, pack mentality).

I'm Irish and almost never drink, and have never once been asked why am I not drinking. Usually I will have a coffee/coke/non-alcoholic beer, and nobody gives a shit.
If they did give me hassle over it, then they're an asshole and I wouldn't want anything to do with them.

My neighbor left Dublin 30 years ago. He was a falling down drunk in his 20s. He woke up one morning face down in a ditch and hasn’t had a drop since. His 11 siblings all drank heavily and many died before age 60.

@@silverkitty2503 You were pagean people ! Christianity has not survived this long in Ireland without the behest of the greater populace . Ireland's allowance for abortion must then be a pagean / atheistic value .
