The reviewer clearly explained she felt the game was too long for the amount of variety of gameplay. No, almost every game is NOT repetitive. What kind of stupid excuse is that? If it was shorter it might have scored higher because according to her the game wore out its welcome. It's not a difficult concept.

Qwerty Werty it's true. In my opinion X and Y were the worst gen. The story was meh, the villains were disgusting, the rivals were nonexistent, but the graphic were great.
presentation and added features were the things that saved XY... i didn't like the story, villains motives and other things but the game did look and felt great with the Gen transition to the new hardware. this feels more like persona's dungeons than pokemonXY overworld though.
X and Y was the worst gen so far

After watching this review, i am wondering if she has really beat a final fantasy before..
Unless it's a brain-dead shooting game, we already know IGN is going to complain about repetitiveness and give it a low score.
Well it's low by IGN standards. I'm not saying that the score being low is true, but when you have watched IGN reviews for a long time you tend up back up on a few of the tropes that make IGN reviews bad.

If you have played final fantasy games before, then you should know that grinding and all the other stuff that comes with it is the very fabric of the game itself. Only a true final fantasy fan gets this. I personally give this game a solid 9.
This is the most fun I have had with a final fantasy game in about 10 years! Absolutely loving it! Definitely on my list to platinum!

This was my first Final Fantasy game, I play it on the Switch and I’d say it’s an 8.5 in my opinion. It’s fun, colourful and so cute. This game introduced me to the main series.
So basically it plays like a classic ff game. Sounds good to me.

Get the Japanese dub, that'll take care of the dialogue and VA issues.
The English version had a budget that was in fact quite similar to the Japanese version. SquEnix affords well, but the tone of this game is not suited to majority of Westerners. Japan takes *cute* in stride.

@@ya0sef Still a different person reviewed those games it doesn't matter if they both work for IGN. Reviews for games are not fact bases, they are opinion based because GAMES ARE SUBJECTIVE. You can't expect reviews from TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE to be consistant.

This seems like a game I'd really enjoy. Some of her "cons" are actually things I enjoy.
You enjoy monotony and item shops only being in one area?
Well to be fair CoD is incredibly monotonous....yet people seem to love that kind of shitty game.
As for item shops being in one area...it's this miraculous thing called convenience, instead of having to travel to the other bloody side of a town for armour or weapons, than to the top of town for general items etc.
Shawn Balboni CoD is also a completely different genre where people play against others (so chances are something is going to be a little different every time you play it, since you're playing against other people). If you listened to the reviewer, she stated that it was annoying because if she ran out of resources, she'd have to go back to the hub, which could then imply she has to redo all that progress again.
Nesaru And fancy that, anyone with two brain cells and prior experience with ANY kind of rpg in general would have known resources are usually finite. So I don't really see why it's an annoyance. If she ran out of items and was constantly having to go back to restock, than it's more her fault for inadequately preparing. Also, having to "redo" something in an rpg if you have to run away for healing or to get items more often than not comes with the territory. So again, she clearly either has no prior experience with rpg's, or simply has no interest in them in general and did the review for a paycheck.
Shawn Balboni And most RPGs with multiple towns have item shops (sometimes they have the save point sell items. Bravely Default had the Adventurer sell you items, which was rather nice). The reviewer is implying that even towns you visit in the game are void of shops.

Is it just me or does this look like a cross between Kingdom Hearts, POPs and Disgaea? Also it sounds like they took a bit of both final fantasy and Chrono Trigger's story for this one.
Only 30 hours? The game had me hooked for 100+ hours. When everything was all done, I was upset that it was over.
Reviews like this are why IGN are considered the laughing stock of gaming media.... along with Polygon

The game won't be released in the civilized world until Friday, so I wouldn't know.
The only thing different about the Vita is loading times and graphics. Besides that, it's confirmed to be the exact same experience. So, it'd be better to get it on a portable console and play it anywhere.

I got it on the Vita, and I gotta say I'm having a lot of fun with it so far (granted I'm about 8 hours in). Since I've played most of the series, it's awesome seeing the characters and hearing the remixed songs I love.
Am I the only one who likes this game better than Final Fantasy 15? I like that this game has gone back to the good ol' ways of Final Fantasy :)

I've gotta say, I love what the developers did for the Vita version. Not only can you mute all voices for the entire game for a more old school reading-only feel (And in my opinion just a less annoying or forced immersion with voices), but in fact you can just not even install the voices at all and save half a gig. Which is a lot considering the price of Vita memory cards. So for that at least, it gets my positive regards.

joshua stevenson 45 hrs accessing new dlc now. my point is STORY shouldn't be 50 hours. unles your stopping the story and grinding. like im nearing ff10 ending now. where all the areas open up. im going to put in 10 hours before i wrap up the last scenes. so in summary 50 hours solid story is too much. thats why metal gear v is getting such criticism. well story was shyt too but still it was milked and stretched too long.
I enjoyed the game, the dialogue was very funny and enjoyed the interactions between the characters. One of the best interactions in a FF game.

The reason it's a 7 is because you were...bored? If you found it awesome the first 30 hours then something must've hooked you. It's a great Final Fantasy and doesn't really drag...there are some LONG areas for sure(the train graveyard and the final dungeon come to mind)but the game is great overall. :) This is my Final Fantasy XV.

No it's the areas that are too linear dungeon like no exploration. They should also add cutscenes to break the grinding.

30 hours before you got bored? i feel that if you play a game that's quality lasts more than a full day (24 hours), then i say that particular game has considerably attracted your attention and shouldnt receive a score lower than about an 8 or so

If the maingame is fun and around 30h then 7 is underrated. If i complete everything its understandable that it can get boring after 50 hours or did you always had fun completing FF7 to 100%? Still its rated as one of the best games ever made. If youre a fan of the old games you will have tons of fun playing the main game. Nobody said you have to do everything but if you have fun playing more then the main game even better. 9/10

the game is fun and cute.I've only put 8hrs into it and the only complaint I have so far is money is kinda useless.if you talk to npcs they'll usually give you free items or go to a save point for a full restore.

This game was awesome! Loved the story and the gameplay. The multiplayer is amazing makes the grind worth it. :)
The thing is it got boring 30 hours in. If it had ended there it would have been a fun game all the way through. That's what I get from the review. The last 20 hours sound like a chore. Not saying it is bad because it is 50 hours. Should have entertained that whole time. If the 30 hours game seems too short it is because you enjoyed it so much you wanted it to keep going.
maybe for gameplay it gets a bit tideous if you aren't used to turned based battles but the story gets much deeper and darker in those hours

The reviewer made the cuteness the pillar of her review, and I rather disagree with pinning the game to that paradigm. I got the feeling the game was trying to be more than its requisite cute non-canon cash-in designation. The plot goes to some pretty dark places.
