The more thrift hauls I watch, the more I realize that people in my area don't donate nice stuff at all compared to what I see on TH-cam. Only rarely do I actually find anything good.
The best Goodwill, Saint Vincent DePaul and Salvation Army are 45 minutes for me. Sometimes you have to travel. Also things are constantly being put out on shelves. I have found some hidden gems behind other things. Just dedicate the time to really search for things. But if you have one thing in mind and they don’t have it walk out and go to the next thrift store. I have found some great things at the The thrift store that’s attached to the VA.
A few years ago, I had good finds. Not so much anymore.
Don’t know if people are donating less(economy) or thrifts in my area have just become overpriced. I suspect a bit of both.
Also I rarely find things that cheap anywhere!
One of our Goodwills gets brand new stuff that is overstocked from stores, but nothing is a bargain anymore.

Our thrifts and restore are not as cheap as you find deals there. I’m located in Springfield, MO area. HOWEVER, don’t forget the pay nothing groups and local small town facebook pages. My daughter moved into her first apartment on Thursday with only a bed for furniture. On Friday I ran across a post for a free sectional sofa in excellent condition, gray which would be her preference, 3 small areas on seams that needs to be stitched up. For FREE. She is so happy with it and I was so happy to help her out. It was only 2 miles from our house.

The spoiled meat will be a big problem in the coming months with the economy/stores are going to want to sell what they can. I just cooked 2 pork chops tonight from my grocery store Weis, and they were spoiled when I cut into them. They're going back on a plate that I'll drop off at customer service!

I know that the deordernt that you're son perfers is over $7.00 dollars, that is pricey I agree but its something that he really likes. What's the harm of splurging to make him feel good? Your buying trinkets that make you feel good. I know what your thinking none of my business 😊
I’d have him pay the difference of the cheap versus what he wants. I’ve heard parents do that with jeans. My mom was extremely poor growing up so I had to buy all my own toiletries and school supplies when I was a teen.
I know she has the kids buy chips if they want more than what she’s bought. I think it’s a great idea

You would be so proud of me, this week my local thrift store had brand new with tags on clothing in my size !! this never happens, so I have 2 pant suits, 1 jean pant, 8 bathing suits, ( Maxine of Hollywood ) reg $100 each for $10 each, 2 sets of placemats. new. a pair of shoes in the box, new. Total cost retail. According to the tags, $1,000 I paid $115

I have seen a catalog from that Gardners Supply Company. REALLY nice stuff but Super EXPENSIVE. So I have never bought from them. You got a great deal!

I’m in Wisconsin most of the thrift stores around here are pretty expensive occasionally you’ll go to one that has 50% off days and the deals are so so. The best deals I usually find are on my kids clothing.
How on Earth do you find such inexpensive buys. I’m jealous.
We are very fortunate in our town to have good thrift stores and yard sales but it's just a matter of looking. Every town has different ways of saving so you just have to look.
That sign about not eating the fake apples made me laugh. When my husband was little, he was with his mom shopping in a furniture store and popped a plastic grape in his mouth from one of the coffee table displays. His grandma that was with them said to his mom " for crying out loud Judy, don't you feed him?" 😂

I have great memories garage sailing and thrift store shopping with my mom but Al lot of the stores have closed here and the ones that remain are all chains and really overpriced

Cool things you found 👍🏼I used to be in the thrift shops all the time , now I’m finding my self decluttering my house from all the shopping 😆. Feeling free from all those things I thought I need it . Retiring in six more years and I guess starting with less it would be a good transition . I do love decorating , I put so much effort of making my home cute and all decorated but found out no ones care 😒😆 so all that effort now is done no more decorating . Just looking forward to retire in Puerto Rico and starting new, just taking the time in what I love the most which is gardening and chickens☺️ just donated a bunch of things to the veterans of America and I hope they find a nice home that can be enjoyed ☺️. Love your vids even though I can’t thrift shop like I used to.

Those prices really are mind-blowing! I have been thrifting for most of my 78 yrs in many different areas, but I've never seen prices like these. I've found a lot of what I considered great buys, but not like this. Maybe you should start a few Airbnb's with thrift store tours as a side hustle. I'll be the first to sign up! 😁

I live in California (between southern and central Calif.) and we got quite a bit of snow yesterday (April 14th).
What a great find! Tawra, you seem to be feeling very much better after you moved from the other state to Montana. My mother used old windows, soil, leaves , and manure to make a cold frame. Shut at night and open during days. The first layer was manure from a farm with soil and leaves over it. The manure created heat, and she had so many tomato plants she was sharing with numerous neighbors. Back then they used bare root tomatoes, and the did great.4
I still pop into my local thrift stores to snoop. Those kinds of deals are not to be found anymore. Our stores have gotten pricey. 😕
I loved the custom tuxedo story. My son wore his high school prom suit all through college and eight years after he became an engineer. He finally had to give it up after the moths found it. We lived in California so he didn't have to wear a suit much.
