- Within events of the first game, Alice Liddell becomes insane, believing herself responsible for a fire that consumed her home and her family, escaping into a twisted version of Wonderland. While held at Rutledge Asylum for treatment, Alice was able to conquer her doubts, and eventually was released from the ward. In Alice: Madness Returns, a year has passed since Alice's release. She now resides at an orphanage in Victorian London under the care of Doctor Angus Bumby, a psychiatrist that uses hypnotism to help his child patients forget their memories. Though she believes herself cured of her madness, hallucinations of Wonderland continue to appear.

@@christorre5908 yeah the creator American McGee so far has a few potential actresses that there's official art of, (personally I only liked 2) he also has a youtube channel where he streams the latest updates and fans can chip in what they like or don't like, he also has a PayPal that explains it better than i can, because he is going to be making another Alice game plus the movie he already sent the letter to EA

Yes and no. Alice decide to live both in Wonderland and London ("Londerland"), accepting that she's bonker, but don't want to live in her delusions either.
I honestly feel like Alice in the end when she kills bumby becomes Wonderland Alice but this time it’s not literal. I think it represents her accepting her mentally ill self and taking action in the real world this time. In the end Wonderland fuses with London so perhaps it‘s a sign that her dellusions are spreading into her concousness and don‘t just happen in her dreams anymore. Before she always got knocked out and proceeded through wonderland for some time until she got to her next goal. There‘s honestly so many open questions about the story left unanswered but to me it‘s basically a mix between wonderland Alice chasing after the train and her memories and her irl self trying to get from point A to B to investigate. Maybe she even purposefully went to all these places to induce her „travels“ through wonderland but the ending to me is basically Alice fusing with wonderland and her unable to differenciate between the two anymore. But it could also be just symbolic stuff about her getting wonderland back since she defeated the memory robbing train but wonderland due to it‘s further destruction becoming both london and wonderland as a new kind of world all together.
@@takke9830 I feel as though it is more along the lines of Wonderland being a world where she can cope with her issues prior to realizing them in the real world. For example, in the first game, American McGee's Alice, she defeats her delusions in Wonderland, which then allows her to finally get out of the Asylum in the end. In Madness Returns, it seems as though her confidence was built in Wonderland, which then manifested into the real world. She was able to come to an understanding of her past and not allow someone to manipulate her any further, i.e. Bumby, which then allows her to be able to live her own life on her own terms.

I‘ve recently read about american mcgee‘s take on the ending and he said it‘s actually intended to be a portrayal of Alice accepting reality instead of escaping to wonderland to hide from the real world. It is stated in the Wiki that between game 1 and 2 Alice thanks to bumby‘s therapy has been practicing forgetfullness of her past and through that blissful ignorance she has caused the destruction of her wonderland wich is entirely the inside of herself aka the place you‘d call the inner world. And only as things literally fall apart in front of her Alice realizes that wonderland is falling apart and struggling to have her notice. The entire journey is Alice who‘s been deliberately been forgetting her own past trying desperately to get her memories back and stop the Infernal train aka Bumby‘s grooming to make her the perfect victim. In a way her own mind is trying to warn her about what she‘s doing to herself as well as trying to help her recollect her memories that are clues rowards lizzies true death cause. And all the while the doll maker has been creeping up onto the scene infesting her mind with this dollification cancer that‘s destroying all of wonderland so he can recreate it the way he intends to to „sell“ her. I guess the ending is all about Alice wanting to stay awake now to reality while simultaniously not giving up on wonderland because seperating them both only lead to death and destruction to herlself and the ones around her. So in the end Alice learned how to cooe with her mentall illness aka wonderland without drifting into a different world entirely to escape the one she‘s scared of. Or maybe wonderland has become real since in otherlands she literally goes back in time visiting actual hystorical figures and talks to em about life so i dunno about that part.

GnaReffotsirk 2 years later: Alice lived in her wonderland cause reality was so crude. After the tragedy of her family;s burning and her survival, her wonderland had distorted more and more as more external interferences came into her life ( the old lady, doctor bumby, the fat guy). It all started cause Dr bumby took a fancy to Lizzie, Alice’s older sister and she rejected him. For some unknown reason, he thought she deserved to die for that together with all her family ( he probably raped her the night of the tragedy). Through out the game, Dr Bumby’s job is basically to brainwash orphaned, unloved children into becoming slaves/prostitues and he planned to do the same with Alice so she would never be able to rediscover the real reason why her family is now dead and her wonderland is so hostile against her.

miru na uk i played this game eons ago, i didn't not like it the levels were repetitive, and the story was extremely confusing because everyone in wonderland spoke in Rhyme and didn't make any sense now that u just explain it makes perfect sense, thank u

The doctor raped her sister then tried to kill her entire family, failed to kill alice so then tried to drug her into losing her mind so he could sell her as a prostitute.
She then kills him by pushing him into a train, the end
