Bethena (A Concert Waltz) - Scott Joplin

Day 238 of my daily video posting project. I have been working on this project since November 2023--posting a video of piano music every single day!
Today's video is "Bethena: A Concert Waltz" by Scott Joplin. This was the second piece recommended by Mr. Étoiles (Paul). You have great taste!
This is a lovely piece by Mr. Joplin, and perfectly describes how I feel about the music I like to study: One foot in classical, and one foot in jazz!! For this composition, the left hand is written in the style of a classical waltz, however, the right hand melody is very much in ragtime style.
The piece was registered in 1905, and is unusual because not a lot of his work was submitted for copyright. The waltz is the subject of an article on Wikipedia which has a very good analysis of the written composition. (en.wikipedia.o....
