#med (Music.Every.Day)
Day 302 of my daily video posting project. I have been working on this project since November 2023--learning and posting a video of new piano music every day!
It's nice to put out upbeat and positive music into the world! Hakuna Matata from "The Lion King" was written by Elton John and Tim Rice. This jazz version is found in Hal Leonard's collection: "Jazz Piano Solos: Disney Favorites").
The movie introduced the world to some unusual animals--Pumbaa and Timon were highly entertaining in the movie, and this piece captures their crazy friendship. The piece has a lot of jazz embellishments, crushed notes, quick offbeat chords that are challenging for me to play. (If I do too much practicing of these kinds of pieces, my fingers start to feel sore--too much sideways motion on joints).
Walking bass is always fun to do--trying to keep a steady tempo while still driving the beat forward is a tricky thing to balance. I find this music happy though--happy to play it and an instant mood-lifter.
