Meanwhile, we have kids of similar age here, moaning about not having the latest iPhone.
that's how their emotions are like when others don't have the same advantage than them. that's completely normal.
its because they have no real struggles in thier lives, so they complain about nonsense. same with all the college kids.
Douchebags Refuted i agree with you for the most part. the problem isnt school though. the problem is everything outside of school. vietnamese kids are basically just young adults, who have to work equally hard as their parents. western kids on the other hand get everything served on a silver plate. they dont have any responsibilities and feel absolutely no obligation to help out. their only job is to share duckface selfies on instagram and snapchat.

this video made me happy so much. I went through like them back when i was only about 5-8 years old. I was born really poor in vietnam. my mom and me would work at like 6:00 Am and all the way till late afternoon. Luckily my dad send some money, monthly, to my mom. As year goes by, our life got better and better to the point we get live in a condo ( a really nice condo tbh ). Got to live there for about 1-2 years until my dad moved me to America. its been 7 years since.

It's been awhile since I watched your earlier videos which had a lot of funny subtitles but this was freakin over the top. Hilarious! Keep up the good vibes with the kids, I'm sure when they get older they will all reminisce about this dude on a scooter who gave them money for math equations.

This is a great channel, Troy. I was really touched by this video, being a Danish-born Viet whose mother had an upbringing very similar to these girls. Even the sick math skillz (none of which I've inherited) has stuck with her throughout the years, and it's awesome seeing you affect their lives so positively. Keep up the good work, man!

It's sad to say, but I seriously doubt that any of those kids are going to get to keep the money you gave them. The reality is that their parents are going to take the money from them. It's better just to go buy what they want, like books, pencils, ect. At least you know that they will have it. Whether their parents take it from them or not, the families of the children are poor. At least you are trying to do a good deed, that's wonderful.
Did you not see the part where Ling says she lives miles away from home and works to pay her way through school?
Eastern countries aren't quite as obsessed with infantilizing children as we are in the west. These kids know how to make their own choices.

i generally tell the kids i will buy them food if they are hungry ( street vendors everywhere) but wont give them money to take home to parents , at least they get the food . ive never been to vietnam

Thanks for a heart warming video for a holiday miser like myself. I think you should let people "chip in" the next time you visit these kids or people and set up a notice in a future video. I believe most people have hearts but not big enough to do something with it like what you are doing for some of the people in Vietnam. Liked I mentioned in of my other postings before, if one person starts to contribute one US Dollar or equivalent it will motivate more and more people to give. Many good Viet Kieus in the USA that don't have the opportunity because of work to be here but their thoughts are with those Vietnamese who are struggling. Those guys deserve the plaudits. When I was a kid until I was a teenager, I wanted to be a singer, but after I grew up, I realized that I'm shy to sing in front of many people. I like singing alone when nobody is looking. So since I was in senior high school, I have wanted to be an English course teacher because English is my most favourite subject.

Troy you are doing a good thing my friend those kids and many others deserve every bit of that money, if these kids here in the states knew what these kids out there go through just to eat and pay for their school supplies brings back memories of me and my friends growing up here in the LBC area we made our money by helping the elderly in many ways like going to the store for them wash their car walk the dog and then you got a job as a paper delivery boy with your bike but I tell ya man these new gen kids over here don't know any of this stuff they have it made which kinda takes away some self discipline and self motivational skills, oh btw don't get me wrong when I say these kids over here because even though US is a strong country believe it or not we still have some kids in the poverty level too. Ok bro keep doing your deed and as they say it will be returned to you and many good and rewarding ways.

Schools in VN are very expensive nowadays that many poor children get dropped out. They have to pay admission fees, health insurance (yes, health insurance), books, pens, schools supplies like chalk boards, speakers system, class equipment such as projectors, lcd flat screens, DVD players, day trip fees, schools approved uniform, etc. All of these ever increasing fees in equivalent USD that typical American family can not afford. That is why Linh and other children have to do this to pay for it.
Why the fuck? Is not supposed to be a communist country where education is free? At least in cuba education is a right, even in mexico school up to highschool is free and public universities are really cheap and include free insurance, public transportation discounts and some other benefits and if you cant pay you can apply to get free schooling up to university title. Been to japan as well and they seem to have a system similar to mexico system.
