It's a good place to go during the day and when you want to mellow out a bit. The smaller casinos with more lower minimums feels better to a low roller (myself) but with Circa right there, you can still feel the big resort presence.
Just got back from Vegas - was looking at property, but also enjoyed the Strip ...well... "Enjoyed" -- too much smoke, idiots smoking joints, homeless people fighting drunk tourists by Bellagio fountains, too many street rats playing their LOUD CRAPPY MUSIIIIIIIIIC! Next time we're going to hit up Fremont.
I completely agree. Both the strip and downtown offer their own unique experiences. If I go to Vegas, I’m spending a whole day off the strip in downtown.
I’d rather go to Fremont st any day over anywhere on the strip. What also blows my mind is I have several friends who went to Vegas on vacation and never went to Fremont st and some didn’t even know Fremont st even existed.
when you talked about walking the strip and how far it was from Mandalay bay to the Strat, even though one time when I was there I actually didnt walk all the way to the strat, but I started out one morning at the Mandalay Bay and walked all the way down to the treasure Island Visiting ALL of the Hotel/casinos and doing a complete walk through of all of them and then crossing the street at the TI and then doing the same thing on the other side, visiting and walking through as may places as could and would you believe by the time I reached the FORMER Tropicana, it was pretty much just starting to get dark, so I was pretty much out there ALL day long, Morning to evening, and this was in August when it still stayed daylight til around 8 in the evening or so, I didnt have one of the pedometers if thats what they are called that measure how far you walk, but would say after I got done that day I must have walked a total over OVER 10 miles.........
@JacobslifeinVegas for our first trip we received 3 nights in a suite with all fees comped as well as transportation to and from the airport. On top of that we get a hundred a day in resort credit. We are both excited to spend some time at Fremont.
Hi Jacob! Love your shows and appreciate your input! :) We have been visiting Vegas for nearly 40 years and, 4 years ago, bought our retirement home here in Summerlin. Just a couple of thoughts about downtown - which, frankly, I shared with our casino hosts in past year. Love our Host, but he couldn't remedy the riffraff. Just heads up to visitors - while we love the vibe of downtown and Fremont St. Experience - be on alert peeps! One must be hypervigiliant about theft, panhandling and scams. We were regulars at Golden Nugget for years, until I got SO tired of being hit up by vagrants, beggars (whatever one would call them) who walked right passed Security to ask me for money, cigarettes, order them a drink, etc. We have been to downtown since we moved here in Nov., 2020 but we have NOT set foot in the Nugget. Makes me sad as it was such a classy place back in the day. NOW? Frankly - Four Queens and Circa. Jacob - please keep up the great work! You are a GEM! :)
I have stayed downtown for years. I will say, the crowd is really rough now days. Sitting at the Four Queens playing slots for a few hours, I had 3 different people come up to me begging for money.
I always visit downtown when I'm in Las Vegas, but have never stayed there. Next April that all changes. I will be with a Slot group at The Plaza Hotel. My favorite place downtown is The California Hotel. I lived in Hawaii 14 years and this hotel caters to the Hawaiian people. I love the food there.
Am I the only local who doesn’t hate the Strip? I don’t gamble or do clubs or anything like that, but I’m down there for something at least once a month. VGK, Aces, concerts…even just walking around and taking in the ambience. Or do I not count as a “local” yet because I’ve only lived here for 5 years?
Hi Jacob, how are u? Good video. I like Fremont St alot and ur right, food is cheaper down there. I been watching ur videos and they are helpful for when I plan a trip. Be safe. Alita from Fayetteville NC
I appreciate another great video brother. Personally I enjoy the Fremont area. I like the Plaza doubling as Biffs in BTTF2. I love the Golden Nugget and the hand of faith nugget, Binions and the Million in cash. Lots to enjoy.
Speaking facts! You’re starting to see a trend towards downtown/Freemont, the gambling revenue shows. IMO, the trend will continue and Freemont will become more expensive as the demand to stay there instead of the strip grows
In the 70s downtown was your late night place, after things slowed down on the strip. Then about 20 years ago, the two were equally fun, but very different. Today, I prefer to stay on Fremont and maybe just run over to the strip for a show. I just hope, that they don't allow Fremont to be ruined, like the strip has been.
I'm going in a few weeks and searched for "Vegas 2025" and this video was up barely 20 minutes ago at the time of writing this comment 😂 goated content as always Jacob
Oh yeah, this is what you need to review. The strip is basically a place to vacuum up stupid peoples money. Fremont and downtown are where you can still get the classic Vegas experience you are looking for. To me the best thing to do would be to stay at either Circa or the Plaza, pick a few places you want to see on the strip and go to them, like the Bellagio gardens, or the Venetian Shops, then if you want to gamble or see attractions or get some food, head back to Fremont and downtown and just stay there. Need to do this before the Wynn mafia figure out the plebs have gamed the system and try to take over downtown too. I bet the women in the bars and clubs are better in downtown as well. Hakkasan, Omnia, and XS are fun for like the first visit but honestly those places Jacob showed in the video look better for actually meeting people. I know for me I want to try out the Atomic bar, which was a bar that looked out into the desert back in the day where the military tested nukes and you could see the mushroom clouds. Supposedly its at the end of downtown.
We came to Vegas (from the UK) every year from 2008 until 2019 and love the place. We are seriously thinking of going back in 2025 but as my son went last year (yep, the whole family love the place) and told us the incredible rises in min bet levels we hesitated knowing that as we go primarily for table games (Poker, Pai Gow Poker and maybe a couple of others). We've now decided to stay Downtown for the first time and I am SO looking forward to being able to afford it :) We are happy to take the Deuce for a nostalgic Strip visit - have to do that to see all the differences) but will spend the majority of our time Downtown. Maybe we'll see you there!
The one big negative Downtown is the cost of parking. On the Strip you get 2, 3 or 4 hours (& in still a few places - unlimited) free parking. I don't know of anywhere Downtown where any grace periods exist.
My wife and I were thinking about moving to Vegas, but after reading some things about Henderson, I'm a bit concerned. Rumor has it that East Henderson is experiencing high cancer rates perhaps due to people living too close to "3 kids mine" or the fact that the Cadence "master community" was built on top of a brownfield. Apparently areas built around the old Pepcon chemical factory that exploded are seeing the concrete stained brown in only a few years. I've also heard that Henderson and Vegas have "naturally occurring deposits of asbestos" which is wild. What are your thoughts on all this?
In Vegas last week. Spent most of my time downtown....stayed at Paris and tookthe bus...couldn't afford $25 BJ tables and no double deck tables on the strip.
Downtown has better prices all around. Minimum bets on table games on Las Vegas Blvd is ridiculous. I prefer off Las Vegas Blvd hotels and restaurants. There are also nice hotels with casinos in other areas of Las Vegas other than downtown. The Mob Museum used to be the old Main Post Office. The pizza is good at The Plaza Hotel. Sam's Town used to have really good pizza.
Downtown is not for me. To crowded and slots are so tight. I could never win there. The only reason I go there is just to killed time when I'm there for like 5 days.🤷♂️
Can someone help me out, usually I park at the Fremont Experience garage for $5 an hour but last night some reason it was a $25 flat fee. Is there another "safe/secure" spot to park Downtown? I'm local and just wanted to walk around since it was a nice night. I ended up going to the Strip where I can park for free and took the opportunity to look at the Bellagio conservatory.
Great shot . Is Benny benyon's horseshoe clubI n the old days. 😊 1984 until 1990 ??😮 ? YOU See , I used to drive down that street park in the garage , FOR FREE, go to the news stand , slap high five to Marvin. ??? Great days, ✌️ now I'm old and I live in mesquite and I haven't been there forever ❤ great Chanel ✌️
I accidentally hit the thumbs down icon, but then corrected it by clicking the thumbs up icon... sorry, I guess I'm just neutral today. Hope that doesn't do anything negative to your algorithm.
Downtown would be my choice. I get more value for my dollar and I get free parking for staying in those hotels. Strip I couldn’t get nothing for a budget and charged so much.
Ive been to Fremont street numerous times i just find now since last time I was there it's turned into a sideshow and freakshow with all the so called entertainers .I'd rather stay on the strip
that is true, most of just trying to get you to take a picture with them now...but the strip is either annoying card dudes, showgirls (also trying to get you to take a picture) and scam games...you can just ignore the street performers on freemont because they aren't aggressive, they can't be because they need permits to be there
I grew up in Vegas. Downtown sucks, Fremont street is sucks. It's a great place to get mugged, stabbed, pick pocketed, assaulted, harassed, and other unsavory experiences. Stay away from Fremont Street and DTLV, unless you're looking to risk your safety and spike your cortisol.
Vegas is a ripoff. They just opened a Hard Rock Casino in my city. I will NEVER go back to RIP OFF VEGAS again. I'm not alone. F Vegas. BUT, you are right bro. IF I was to gamble in Vegas- Downtown would be it. The strip..lol. Put a fork in the strip- it's done.
While it’s convenient having every thing close you will have to Wash your cloths to get the smell of drugs out of them plus is more getto than the strip
Do you like Downtown Las Vegas better than the strip?
@@JacobslifeinVegas definitely we stayed at Planet Hollywood but had a blast in Downtown, drinks and food considerably cheaper
It's a good place to go during the day and when you want to mellow out a bit. The smaller casinos with more lower minimums feels better to a low roller (myself) but with Circa right there, you can still feel the big resort presence.

the Wife and I don't even bother with the strip anymore
YES!
Once you stay downtown a few times, the desire to stay on the strip becomes less attractive.
Yes very true, I’ve stayed at Fremont Street twice now and so much more enjoyable, before I always stayed on the Strip
Jacob seriously has the best Vegas channel. He knocks it out of the park every time. Ruby is great too!
Which park?
The walkability is the biggest advantage.
👍
I completely agree. Both the strip and downtown offer their own unique experiences. If I go to Vegas, I’m spending a whole day off the strip in downtown.
😎
I love the old smoky El Cortez and it's vibe
It's usually faster to run from Mandalay than it is to walk.
Another bonus: NO F1 stuff to contend with for months at a time.
Good point!
I was just there last night. Wild!
My wife and i are going for our first time in feb. Thanks for the time jacob, happy holidays...
You're welcome! Enjoy the trip!
@JacobslifeinVegas for our first trip we received 3 nights in a suite with all fees comped as well as transportation to and from the airport. On top of that we get a hundred a day in resort credit. We are both excited to spend some time at Fremont.
I love downtown. Thanks for the video.
De nada!
One of the best videos yet.
The strip is cool and everyone should experience it at least once, but I much prefer downtown.
Yes definitely like downtown better..more bang for your buck. In my 20s i loved the strip now im older and prefer downtown. ❤
Another great one!!
Thank you!
Love your videos Jacob, coming back to Las Vegas in June and can’t wait to get back on Fremont street
Thank you Stuart! Enjoy the trip!
Thanks for the video Jacob ! Happy holidays !
You're welcome Winston! Happy Holidays!
Downtown Rules! Thanks for highlighting my favorites (Evel Pie, Neon Museum). Can't wait to cone back next year!
If we come out, it will not be the strip....downtown! Great video.😊
Videos are ALWAYS LEGIT AFFFF!!! 🙌😎

Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas!
Being a female solo tourist I feel more comfortable on the strip ❤
I do not blame you at all. Being safe is the top of the list. Good luck on your next trip.
Being a female local I also feel safer on the strip or Arts District
Great video. I've always loved Fremont Street. Now they have a new tiki bar where Nacho Daddy's used to be.
ill keep these tips in mind next time i go to vegas. Thanks for the good work and hope you have a very merry christmas!
Nice review…. Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome!

Jacob we are trying to keep downtown low key keep it down
😆
I have always liked downtown Las Vegas much better than the strip. In fact, like most locals, I hate the strip.
You're one of us now LOL
Am I the only local who doesn’t hate the Strip? I don’t gamble or do clubs or anything like that, but I’m down there for something at least once a month. VGK, Aces, concerts…even just walking around and taking in the ambience.

3:33, I like that dig there 😊
I still can't believe your date at Hugo's Cellar was celebrating her 50th birthday. She's doing something right.
Vegas gone too expensive, freemont st is good value he’s right we were there last week shocking how expensive it was

😂

Thank you! Glad to help!
Have stayed downtown the last 10 years. The casinos give better comps also. Havent paid for a room in 25 years. Stayed the Orleans before dowbtown.

I like staying at the M in south Vegas cuz I am going there to relax away from SoCal.
😎
Yes, I love the M and their comps program is legit!
Neon museum was amazing!!!
Las Vegas Brandin Stephens y’all
Thanks 🙏 you can buy a can of soda and a American candy bar for $2 dollars aka £2
Thank you PETER!
El Cortez for $19 Prime Rib
😎
Saw you at the strat this past weekend !

Lowest minimum for face up pai gow in downtown was $15 last I saw. $50 at the Cal, but also $1 progressive bet against an $800k jackpot
I like the golden nugget

😂

How is the safety currently is downtown? Sorry, wrote question right before it was addressed
Hi Jacob, I wanted to ask what casinos have coin slots specifically? also what places do you recommend eating at as a local
the street performers requiring permits ensure they can't be aggressive towards you
Bottle of water is 7 dollars never will forget that lol😂
Stay at an Airbnb and then gamble/eat downtown.
😊👍
Downtown is where it's at
I like the D ans Plaza. Old school and simple
I will be visiting Vegas in fall of 2025
Awesome! Enjoy the trip!
@ thank you
i plan to !!!

Fremont St is a dump, especially during the weekends.
I know it's still a S. Hole with the worst of humanity 😮
It sounds like Fremont Street is what The Strip used to be.
The strip is where the tourists are. Downtown in where the all the fun is and where the big block party is happening!
Will you be doing another date night with the beautiful lady you dined with at Hugo Cellars? That was a great video 🎉

All good! Thank you Jimbo!
Noenoplis was left out and it's Booming right now.
Most tourists have no idea downtown is different than the strip.
I will in August. I don’t give a damn about higher prices I’m getting old.
You didn't mention the natural history museum or the black history museum
Downtown would be my choice. I get more value for my dollar and I get free parking for staying in those hotels. Strip I couldn’t get nothing for a budget and charged so much.
we visit vegas once a year and will never go back to freemont street. its a dumpster fire. unsafe. nothing to see once youve seen it all 1 time.
Ive been to Fremont street numerous times i just find now since last time I was there it's turned into a sideshow and freakshow with all the so called entertainers .I'd rather stay on the strip

Vegas is a nightmare scam. ANY place but vegas is better
Know that , true that , true words
While it’s convenient having every thing close you will have to Wash your cloths to get the smell of drugs out of them plus is more getto than the strip
not thanks ,to many homeless
Ghetto for sure
Way to make Dowtown more expensive, hmmm...? No more watching your vids. Duh people.
Ew.. locals on Fremont? exactly why i’d never visit. Also, Vegas SUCKS. thanks though
Thanks 🙏 you can buy a can of soda and a American candy bar for $2 dollars aka £2
