Hello, I've just noticed that is impossible to use the "oil paint effect" when putting the image mode in CMYK, is there a sort of way to overcome if you want to print the image after, knowing that CMYK mode is best when printing.
Which photoshop are you using ?

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but the Oil Paint filter is simply not available for me. My image is in RGB and I've got the most up-to-date version of Photoshop running on my computer, but its still not available. Can anyone help?!

How can I turn the oil painting into bright pop art colors instead of the actual colors? Is this able to be done with this effect?
I'v been adding bright gradients over the finished product. I'm sure you can also go to the adjustment layer (circle at the bottom near the new layer) and from there change color balance and a whole range of things. Then move it to the top of your layers :) hope this helps

Cut out the subject
let's say i created on A4 size. when i double click my main subject so i can 1 click apply the effect on a new photo, 6:31, the file opens onto a canvas that has smaller dimensions to A4 and makes it difficult to align my new photo for the finished effect. how do i resolve that and was there a step i missed? FYI - works for A4 size but when i changed to 8x10 - disaster!
You'll need to open the smart object change its dimension using the crop tool for example, then click ctrl+s and get back to the main document and change the main document dimension using the crop tool also, or remake a new project with the new dimension you want, or record an action of the steps to be applied on any dimension.

I followed this exactly and the oil filter didn't do anything to the photo I used. It looks exactly the same
It's not working on my image 🙄 very minor change is visible but almost like a normal image 😞

Hi open PSD with oil paints effect, double click smart object, it will open a new tab, In the new tab drag in the new photo you want to add the effect to, click Ctrl +S (PC) and then it will take a minute or so to make into an oil painting in the first tab (the one double clicked) look there for you painting !!

Smart sharpen is not in my 2021/2023 photoshop filter list. Somebody helps.

As I explained in the intro, You'll need to make your own PSD file first, then you can reapply the effect on any new image with a click! check this @6:42
