  • Excited to try out the Vallejo Decal System.
    I've always had issues with Decals in the past because they never really went on all that well.
    These guys did the trick!

    TYVM Overall great video, lots of great info. 1st I watched this at work this morning and I started laughing. It made my day, then I went rest of the day talking about my decals. Then I got home and showed my wife my decals and she was loving it. Now I can NEVER say decal again cause it's just not fun your pronunciation is way better. I'm an instant subscriber as long as you dont change. We have officially made a drinking game off this one video. Thank you so much, looking forward to watching more videos. The micron pen... what a great suggestion. I've been hoping to find decals of my great company's icon for a while now, but they are few and far between, so I've stuck with blank shoulder pads instead of free-handing details with a paint brush...

    How i do it :
    1. in place where to be decal, reflective varnish for acrylic paints
    2. Vallejo decal fix (no water, like in movie) on place where will be decal
    3. put decal (after a water bath)
    4. Vallejo decal softener
    5. matt varnish for acrylic paints

  • @kgeo2686
    @kgeo2686 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So after you do gloss, decal, gloss you then use matte finish.
    Will your full model matte finish be sufficient to dull back the decal areas? Or should you brush on matte varnish to the decal areas then do your final matte finish?

    • @ThePrefect
      @ThePrefect  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question, matt varnish seems to knock it down without issue for me. The final coat of gloss just serves to prevent any damage to the decal. In theory, you could skip it, but I like to do it to preserve all your hard work.
      Thanks for watching!

    I labeled the squad numbers on all my tacticals (40) earlier today. Put them raw, then some AK Interactive decal adapter and after a few minutes I tried to remove any protuberances with a brush. Worked in some cases, but a few I just had to remove them after a while because they got so wet with the adapter, that it just got really irregular and thin. Always a struggle with me. I'll try to follow your method next time

    • @311pique

    I'm hearing faint traces of a US northern mid-west or Canadian accent, and since he is pronouncing "decal" that way I'm going to guess it's Canadian. That pronunciation is consistent with other Commonwealth nations. The first time I ever heard it pronounced that way it was by somebody from the UK. Didn't seem too strange, but it is a little surprising to hear it in a North American accent, though. I'm glad everybody was able to work everything out.

      Well... first off it depends on where you're from. I'm Canadian, and that's how it's said.
      Secondly, be constructive. I'm all for a conversation about how different cultures approach the pronunciation of a word, but this is not constructive.
      Attention seeking by having an all caps baby tantrum will just get you banned.
      Thanks for watching, I hope it was valuable aside from the pronunciation for you.
