people always debate on gear.. wake up people. all u need is to practice to sound good. the gear is number 2. but the number one is u need to practice. a good piAnist will make the cheap keybord sound good
+nestor pascual spot on mate.:D i own a kross and i'm a pianist/keyboardist.:D just tweak the sound a bit, combine with your playing (make sure it's good tho. lol) and your synth will sound good.:D
+nestor pascual That's right and wrong at the same time... I don't care how good someone gets playing, a $50 synth will never sound as good as a $3000 synth. That is just the way it is... If you are talking about the difference between a $1000 keyboard, and a $3000 one, then you have a point... I can make any of my 90's synths sound just a good as a brand new "Flagship" - But that is because I not only practice, I know them all inside and out... :-)
Korg also has some amazingly realistic piano sounds. Organs, vintage electric pianos, drums, guitars, basses, synth sounds…it's all in the Krome! 02:50, 05:09 Ah, yes, forward into the past! Wouldn't be a Korg demo without a few selections from the 'Cheesy' category. That aside, impressive board!

Big korg fan i own the Korg M1, korg 01wpro, kork Trinity, korg Extreme and theres always something new to learn good boards and im also looking in to this korg krome heard alot of good things about them
Most brands update their products around every 3 years, the Krome is now 3 yrs old. I'm hoping amongst a few update changes in the Krome, Korg will include audio recording just like the Kross along with audio line in. I'm hoping this update is just around the corner whilst I'm holding out to buy the 88 key version currently have the 61.
Looks and sounds great. I only wish that Korg would start putting audio interfaces in their keyboards like most of the Yamaha Motif based synths. It really makes working with a DAW much easier. But that is really my only complaint. Sounds excellent and the price is fair.
Just to clarify something about the MOX. It has sounds "based" on those of the XS but these are NOT XS sounds. Yamaha like to big it up about the "XS Engine" but this doesn't pan out in reality. I had the XS and MOX and was not impressed with either. I would take the Krome any day over either of them.
I would probably go with Krome. This workstation features a ton of great string/orchestral sounds and the touchscreen interface is very user friendly. Thanks for watching! - Dave McCullough Kraft Music Marketing (800)783-3368
How does the keybed on Krome compare to the M50's? I'm looking to replace my old M50 with a 73 key Krome, but the only one I've found to test out was an 88 key model. The keybed isn't a deal-breaker but I'd at least like ones that are more like the Kronos 61's and less like the M50's.
Just a few tiny question from a potential swedish buyer. Does Krome feature the same set structure as Kronox has? Does the Krome has any other synthesizer onboard like the Kronox has?
alright i will get in touch with you tomorrow, because a lot of people are saying that mox is better and it has motif XS engine, but i heard that in krome you can create your own sounds, i just have few questions more and they all kind of same but i want to make sure , because i want to buy one this ASAP.
I had the MOX, and I wouldn't recommend it. There's no touch screen, so you have to push a million buttons to get to anything, and it's really difficult to figure out. Not intuitive at all. I would definitely go with the Krome. No contest.
I have few queries related to sampling & Midi.First of all is there any possibility to play Mp3 or wave file directly on Krome or on a sequencer mode.2) Why Midi files don't sound properly after rendering out as it sounds properly while recording software tracks on any DAW. I mean what's the use of midi files when am unable to get the proper sounds as we hear during the recoding of any midi track on a Daw like Logic pro but when I export to .midi files the sound gets muffled then what's the use of midi when am unable to store my Midi backing track using software instruments which is same as midi only on Logic pro. 3) Is it possible to play the Wave or mp3 format of loop on Krome. Pl help us out will grateful to you.
I have read on Korg's website(& the Korg Forum)...that the Krome can be used as a VST,inside a computer DAW...but I can't get any confirmation on this! This seems like such a major selling point, for the Krome and yet, there are no goddamn videos on TH-cam that illustrates this...WTF!??
I see the Krome has a SD slot. Does this mean it also has the Open Sampling function as other models in the past have had? Or can you at least load samples stored on the card and be able to create a new program/combi with them?
Why do you need a setlist? Just save your patch setups in the order that you will use them in a show using the name of each song... That's how I've done it since day one with every synth I've ever owned going all the way back to my lowly Roland D-5...
Hey nice video ! :) I have a question, I need your guys help : I want to buy a new keyboard but I hesitate between : MODX8, Roland Fa08, Roland RD2000, Korg GrandStage, Korg Krome. I have a budget like 2000€. I want a good sound quality. The order is to do home production and to practice the piano. Thanks for your help! :)
I bought a used one a few months ago. I use it primarily as a Midi controller for my Motif XF8 for live use. The sounds are overall very nice too. DC jack is being replaced due to abuse by previous owner, so I can’t comment on its durability.
I'm thinking about buying the krome. I currently have the korg microstation, but I need something with normal size keys for live performance. I'm just wondering if the sounds are very similar if not exactly the same as the microstation??
they're not, i own a Krome since january and its more like a m3 with better Sound quality and some Kronos Sounds and much much more processor Power so you can layer 16 Sounds, a fine Sequenzer and (in my opinion) A supreme effect section. I am a guy Who really likes to buy Tons of Gear but i didn't find anything i'd buy since i have the Krome. Was thinking about an analog synthesizer like a moog or the korg minibrute but i After using a moog voyager on a gig and not finding any benefits except for the usability for synths in particular i don't find any reason, the Sound quality was similar on a live Situation and our Studio has all sorts of synths so i don't Need to buy them
i love this keyboard and seems to me like an awesome instrument, my fear is, i won"t be able to take full advantage of all the features this keyboard has to offer. i recently sold a yamaha keyboard which i got tired of and got desinterested of. Can anyone tell me, is this instrument easier to set up and use, according to your experience with it?
Since it seems you got no answers to your questions, allow me..... Typically, no player ever uses everything in one of these instruments. If you have a home recording studio, you will likely use more features than a live performer. Or maybe not. One reason you got rid of your Yamaha is because of its awful user interface. The touchscreen interface of this keyboard makes all of the features much more easy to access and use. I just bought one yesterday. Can't wait to get it and play.
steevee1945 thank you, everything you said makes sense. a few years ago all i used was korg keyboards and till this day i wonder why did i go to something different.
+Osiase Simon depends on what you aim to do, but the Krome truely is much much more comfortable to use. that was the reason why i bought the Krome instead of kurzweil or yamaha. 12" touch Display vs 2 lines 90s Mini screen...
Rich - you're saying "octave up and down buttons". It's not entirely true - those are programmable switches and they not always in "octave up / down" mode. Quite a disadvantage for a 61 version. There is some more bugs in current version of operating system - one that I remember from the top of my head: when you've got your Krome connected via USB to your PC and try to record in internal sequencer after 2 bars of metronome pre tick the first one when you start recording is out of sync.
i am so confused krome or mox? im not a musician but i have always liked the sound of professional keyboards, im all about sounds i dont really like pianos, i like strings, guitar, orchestra and other FX sounds, any help? and does anyone know if i can add more sounds to this keyboards after?
Is it possible to use this as like a one man band thing? so record somthing and then record over that recording? for example you play somthing and play over that with a trumpet. then play over that on the drums? basicaly can you use it like you would garageband?
Sampling functionality on a $1,000 Korg workstation? Are you serious? It's so patently absurd that so many people out there expect $3,000 worth of features in a keyboard that cost a grand. As it is,the Krome offers much more than any other workstation out there for the price. If you had bothered to visit Korg's website,or to watch any of Korg USA's tutorial videos, you would find out everything you need to know & you wouldn't be asking silly questions such as this. Try doing some research.
i sold my krome 88 and krome 73 years ago. I just sold my kronos 2 again for the 2nd time. NOW IM GETTING ANOTHER KROME 88 coz kronos is too much for me i dont even use some capabilities of the kronos. If all you ou need is sounds, krome will suits your needs
My friend Says Korg technology is the best he says nothing can beat the pianos. He use to sell Korg Keyboards and Speakers etc.. He says you can't go wrong with Korg Technology..
i will stick with the 73 key m3 untill korg makes something else with pads i left the fantom for korg for more control an lost alittle in sound definition but the board is great

I have the M50 & now I fell in love w. this one
Well am not a Korg fan but I must hand it to you I love the Krome one of the best in this price range
Just bought this along with an apollo twin interface today. So stoked!!

+thesingingdj Don't expect any updates to the Krome, Korg seems to have forgotten about it... :-(
I wish they were an update version too. I wish there was seamless transition changes during COMBI modes.
If they release a Krome 2 with audio recording I will get it at once
Looks and sounds great. I only wish that Korg would start putting audio interfaces in their keyboards like most of the Yamaha Motif based synths. It really makes working with a DAW much easier. But that is really my only complaint. Sounds excellent and the price is fair.
Nice I like it looks like a good looking keyboard
I have a Yamaha S-90ES, and MOX6. Both are great boards, but I find the Korg Krome to be much more user friendly. The Krome sounds fantastic!

Dude one question. Is there any difference in the depth of sound between the 61 key and 88 key model?

first of all thank you for your replay. but i thought korg was more about piano sounds?
Really beautiful.. But it´s a shame that is out of stock. I ´m trying to get the 73 version since october and nothing..
Do you now how to octace up or down when its not showing on the SW1 buttons?
Aside price, what's the difference between the KROME and M50 -- More voices, more polyphony, something else? They're both workstations, yes?

this might be late but please go Krome I got the mox coz i prefer Yamaha cf series for piano but Krome is so much better.
How many pianos does the krome have compared to kronos?
nice stuff!! :D

You have to glue it to speaker then it sound good.

Nope. You need to connect it to your own speakers, which is kinda good since often those onboard ain't that good.

La Rebeldia Style I think yes it can, I saw it somewhere on TH-cam IF I'm not mistaken. just like Kurzweil PC3K8.
Does it have own speakers ?
no! I use 2, 75watt BERINGER STUDIO MONITORS. WHICH ARE AMPLE EVEN FOR Small Venues. (ie Piano Bars, coffee shops etc.
Compatible with Cubase 8 ?
+DanieL Plainsong yes

If this Krome had half the capabilities of the Kronos I wouldn't think twice to get one. Its a decent keyboard but I'm just saying.
From comparing my Krome to a Kronos, the Krome is more or less a subset of the HD-1 PCM engine in the Kronos... not as advanced, with no sampling or wave sequencing, but a very capable synth in it's own right...
