    One thing to tell you about driving a manual transmission that will save you grief - especially if you keep the car for a while. When you pull up to a stop light on red, put the shifter in neutral and let out the clutch pedal. If you are at the light and you have it in first gear with the clutch pedal in, you will prematurely wear out the clutch's throw out bearing. The throw out bearing is connected to the actuator from the clutch pedal and it rotates against the clutch springs. The pressure on the throw out bearing while the holding the clutch pedal in will cause wear on bearing. It is much better to let the clutch spin in neutral.
    Also, You should not drive with your hand resting on the gear shift knob. The weight gets transferred down to the gearbox.

    • @RUBIX3
      @RUBIX3  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did all of that! Definitely helped with the longevity of the car!

    • @bailey9r

      Holding the clutch is also a lot of pressure on the drive shaft against the thrust bearing that isn't getting much oil while idling and the motor is way more expensive. ;

    Got my 6 speed Challenger R/T a little over a week ago. Huge step up from that Veloster I was driving. Took a few days to get used to the clutch as it is noticeably heavier than the Veloster's, but man is it a blast to drive! Awesome video!

    I just happened upon your vids and they've been very informative as to manual driving. I just bought a 16 RT Shaker Plus and it's been quite different from previous Toyota manuals I've driven so it's been quite the learning experience. I found the Clutch Delay delete to be useful for the first gear take off. Often I'd feel the clutch not engage when trying to take off quickly and really made it awkward at times because of that. I did get the Barton and haven't seen if you got one yet. Absolutely do it, bro! It's so awesome and it does alleviate some of the issue with the cup holders being in the way since you can adjust the angle and the shifts are shorter. Also no longer hit my phone when going on reverse and it's in the pro clip.

    • @RUBIX3

    Two comments A) removing the fluid delay blockage he is talking about around 6:29 is to slow your shifts (Granny shift) to "soften the shock" when speed shifting. The benefit of this restriction is negligible at best but unhook the hose and with a pick pull the two pieces out (one looks like an X and the other a O (just a restriction in the line) and it shifts better and easier and faster.
    and B) The Barton shifter is very nice and precise but the reason the factory one is what some call vague is it is cushioned to be isolated and silent, most love the snick-snick notchy shift of the Barton but some have taken it out after a month cause it can be noisy and vibrate. I have had a few Hurst shifters in past cars and loved them but did notice some annoying chatter downshifting and just cruising with no load on the drive train.

    Good afternoon, I have some question - with a manual transmission, there is an " ECO " mode - that is, there is a shutdown of the 4 cylinder? And in general, what is the fuel consumption you get when driving normally with a manual transmission?

    • @RUBIX3
      @RUBIX3  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The manuals don’t have eco mode. Normal I can get 22-23mpg in the highway with normal driving. One time I averaged 28mpg on a road trip.

    Personally, I have always just kept a really small idol with the accelerator pushed in a Lil bit, and the clutch pushed in a Lil bit while being on a hill. Basically just match the 2 to keep the car in place. Hard to explain in text. But once you get it down you can keep the car in one spot with out it rolling backwards, or without it rolling forward, or stalling out, and once that light changes then you can take off smoothly. It's definitely something to practice on a hill. But I never drove a stic with that much horse power. So I'm not sure if it's even possible to do with that kind of power tbh lol.

    • @RUBIX3
      @RUBIX3  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1
