      People seem to not want to admit that they knew something was wrong with an individual, once they become a person of interest. Heck, even Bundy was said to be "Charming", but he was still weird at the same time.
      My brother went to elementary school with a kid that he knew through mutual friend. He knew even as a boy that that kid was "not right", and that kid grew up to be a serial murderer.

    When DC was going over his stalking behaviour, I wondered whether there was something that happened to tip him over the edge.
    He obviously felt entitled to a relationship with Lorraine. People like this live in a fantasy lala land where they think they know the person would love them if they just gave them a chance. He probably held Peter responsible for standing in the way of their relationship.
    Then right at the end at 24:30 there it is. They announced their engagement that night.
    He seemed to have a way of finding out things he shouldn't rightly have had knowledge of. If he found out they were getting engaged that would mean the end of all hope for him.
    It was the old if he couldn't have her nobody could.

      Interesting that you mention him “living in lala land.” Catherine Ramsland and John Douglas have both mentioned serial killers/r@pists, etc, typically have a rich fantasy life. The BTK Killer (Dennis Rader), for instance, lived vicariously through his fantasies, and when those were no longer enough, he began stalking and murdering to get a release. This seems to be one of the keys to understanding and ultimately stopping Serial Offenders.

    Loved ones and friends will swear up and down that a suspect is not capable of any type of crime. Then often evidence points right at them and/or the person admits to the crime. Fact is. No matter how well one thinks they know someone. They don't. We all have secrets and thoughts we never ever share with anybody.
    Wally seemed as though he may be the most obvious person. Quiet and meek. Screams capable.
    When men and many women are infused with adrenaline moving two bodies is possible. Albeit a chore, but possible. Police can have their killer right under their nose and still decide its not the ones. Years later DNA points right back at the suspect.
    In this case sadly. Unless someone speaks up . it most likely will remain cold.

    After hearing that the murderer put both of the bodies at OPPOSITE ends of the trailer signifies to me that it was personal, as he didn’t want ‘them’ together in death, & most likely in life as well. Otherwise, if it was random, and no feelings involved the bodies would have just been thrown together? Also the woman being ‘face down’ was probably due to the killer feeling guilt and couldn’t look at her. If I was the detectives on this case, I’d be investigating the ex’s. I always wanted to do detective work.

      This is a good observation, but unfortunately, feeling guilt about killing Lorraine and not wanting her together with Peter applies to a multitude of people - the ex, the stalker, the daughter... Wally seems very obvious, and he wouldn't be the first stalker to have killed the object of his obsession because she "cheated" on him, but the argument that he wouldn't be able to move both bodies does have its weight, and also, why move them at all, and both of them, if he just wanted to separate them?

    Wally Sparks seems to be the best candidate imo, those with the stalker mentality are very capable of killing their love interests especially when the person they are stalking starts a relationship with someone else. He mentioned that she was "cheating on him" even though they never had a relationship to begin with, (she may have had sex with him as they were both single adults) he thought they were together so he would have felt justified in killing them both. Im so glad to have self confidence and self respect, i would never chase a female who even hinted at not being interested in me as I see it as being weak and pathetic.

There are no where near as many true crime stories that come out of Canada so love a channel that is able to dig some up to share. Thanks!

    Peter & Lorraine seem like they were genuinely nice, honest people.. so who would have the motive? Did Officer Ferguson work with Peter? Was Ferguson corrupt & Peter caught him doing something shady so Ferguson shut him up? And Lorraine, too, if he thought Peter had said something to her about it? It just seems like too neat of crime scene to be random. Idk..I just hope they figure it out someday.

    • @maysj381
      @maysj381 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      They did work together, or at least Peter was transferred to Pincher Creek where Ferguson already worked. Ferguson had many complaints against him, filed by both citizens and fellow RCMP, and office staff. He was described by coworkers as a bully, and a loose cannon. He has a history of harassment from other communities he's worked in too. It was suggested that Peter was transferred there to look into the complaints, unknown to other officers. Staff Sgt was Gary Mills at the time and was ineffective to control Ferguson, who had even used a police cruiser to block in a coworker and intimidate her. He was known to have blow outs at all other staff, and they all eventually walked on eggshells around him. He even assaulted citizens, and put his hands on a student at a basketball game he was coaching. Ferguson is more than capable of this crime, he was living near Lorraines property at the time, he'd have had knowledge and access to thier routines and property. Even easier to promote Wally as a suspect.
      There was even talk of there being sabotage to a plane that another officer died in, and that Ferguson had a hand in it.
      At this point, I don't doubt anything, he was found guilty of murdering Darren Varley, and had been reported to abuse and abandon Natives after picking them up from calls. Ferguson was also investigated for beating up a minor in cells, something the staff Sgt apparently knew happened as well.
      Alot of corruption in small towns, and alot of people know it.

    This is one of the main reasons why I'll never live in a small town in the middle of nowhere. Lack of CCTVs and small population mean criminals can get away unnoticed. Also people in the small towns are more likely to have guns.
    It is pretty obvious who killed them. The fact that the rifle was missing, the guy went out around the time the murder happened, refused to take polygraph test, was admitted to psychiatric hospital (probably to avoid being questioned by the police) and how he was obsessed with Lorraine. The murderer was definitely jealous because the victims got engaged. This case is pretty straightforward but unfortunately without concrete evidence, it will remain unsolved.

    When I lived in Pincher I tried to help some locals get to the truth. In speaking with the locals, there was the bulk that believed it was her ex, that same bulk of people undoubtedly believed that Constable Ferguson was also Malinda’s killer. A small amount of locals believed he was responsible for all of them.
    Someone knows, some wouldn’t talk about it, saying leave me out of it.

    Well done on the details, but I do admit I cringe any time I hear "point 22" instead of "twenty-two caliber" or just "a twenty-two". I understand most civilians outside the US would not have the same familiarity with it as we do, since even those here who don't handle guns will still hear it on the news often. Ones with "mm" after them omit "caliber," such as "9 millimeter" whereas the "point" is read as "caliber," i.e. .25, .38, etc.

    Why did the killer move the victims at all? It wasn’t like they took them away and hid the bodies where no one would ever find them so what was the point of hiding them inside the horse trailer where they would be easily found? Why wouldn’t they just leave them where they fell? There’s a reason for it that should point to who the killer is.

    Yet another Canadian case where it’s obvious the investigation was just inept. The daughter should have been the most obvious person to look into further. Occam’s razor is always the solution. She would benefit the most, was the only other person in the home that night, is the closest to both decedents, and supposedly came home and noticed her mother’s door was open but just grabbed some stuff and left to go to her boyfriends? There was zero attempt at conversation? She wouldn’t have called out to them that she was home or going back out? I don’t buy that. I’m a curmudgeon and had a strained relationship with my parents, but even I would call upstairs to my parents to say I’m home for the night when I lived with them. If I already noticed their door was open when it’s usually closed when they’re home, and got no reply from them when attempting to talk, I would have immediately gone and looked around the house for them.
    We are so much more likely to be killed by “loved” ones than strangers...

    • @irena4545
      @irena4545 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it's weird - the open door when a kid is outing is a sort of "let us know you're home" invitation, and even if that was not the habit in the family, the change against the usual would warrant a peek in before closing the door for them. Weird.

In fact one day I *didn't* do that and my mother appeared at my door half an hour later sarcastically telling me it was nice I was home.

    I grew up in this eastern BC, western Alberta area, we used to go to Lundbrek Falls as kids. This was then a very isolated area and people generally stuck to their social groupings or at least a few of them. If it was a local that did it people know who committed the crime. I suspect it was someone who had general local knowledge at least, you can't just drive up to an isolated trailer in the middle of the night and they had the sense not to do it during snow melt when footprints turn to ice and things remain frozen under the ice when the weather gets colder again but if it was an outsider they're not likely to get caught.

    I know no signs say she did anything wrong but is it oddly convenient to anyone else that the daughter left twice, 1st right as they were getting back, so she's out when the murder happens, comes back, see's a couple of odd signs like her mom's door being open, not seeing them, no lights on. You don't have any intuition feelings to just say hi to check and make sure people are okay and home safe? You just come back then leave for a 2nd time with your boyfriend. Not even being the one who figures something is wrong with your mom, other people do.. and they're further separated from the situation. I just don't get how not even slight alarm bells were going off to check in with how her loved ones were doing? But besides that the other theory is interesting as well, that guy who then took himself to a mental health center seems like needs to be further looked into. Did anyone benefit from these killings? Again why I had just a thought about close family.. maybe benefiting from inheritance and what not. Especially if you get away with it..

    • @nancyholcombe8030
      @nancyholcombe8030 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Ben McReynolds that caught my ear too. Having many friends in law enforcement, I know their kids either think they're bullet-proof or they're too strict. While both of these reasons stand as valid arguments as to why she didn't check, I'd lpve to know the status of her relationship with her dad at the time. Both would probably also know about the stalker situation and the daughter may have known Wally personally. Somebody knew he had that rifle. Panic plus lack of knowledge (or worse) may have made him chuck it. Their engagement could have been a potential thorn in the side of all of the suspects. And, it could concieivably alter a few inheritence espectations Whoever planned it waited for the weather though, knowing it would destroy most of the evidence. Unless somebody gets a very guilty conscience these two innocent people will never get justice.
