Beartown is my favorite ever and I love how people finally give it the hype it deserves. And please keep reading the series because the last book is the best one. Trust me, it’s truly amazing!!

The Beartown series by Fredrik Backman is phenomenal. Backman is so talented at building characters and evoking emotion. I’m not a very emotional person and this series had me crying more than any other series I’ve ever read. This is a must-read series folks. It’s emotional gold

Crazy timing, but I JUST rewatched Divergent and had that same thought about it being almost beat-for-beat like Fourth Wing! Wild!

I absolutely LOVED Summer Fridays!!!! I felt like it was completely realistic which is why the love interest didn’t form quickly. I gave it a 4.5

Annie Bot got ONE STAR?!?! It was a 5 star for me. The commentary on patriarchy and traumatic partnerships is sooooo on point. I related to it so much.
I loved it.
For anyone who has dealt with DV, cheating, or just deals with narcissistic men… read this- be warned, it’s deep.

5 star for me too..... Des's commentary on this one honestly led me to believe that she didn't realllyyyyy spend much time with it. it's amazing and SO ON THE NOSE! maybe a book like this is only loved by people who have some level of comparable life experience.

I unironically love the shadowhunters books. They also get so much better as you go on, the infernal devices is one of my favorite trilogies of all time.

If you haven't read My grandmother asked me to tell you she's sorry by Fredrik Backman I 100% recommend. Such a good book just finished this and gave it 5/5
I just DNFed that book. I love Fredrick Blackman and I had such high hopes for this book. What am I missing? It feels so slow and pointlessly complicated with childish stories. Am I missing the point? Does it get better? I DNFed just over 100 pages in.
@@vansa14 i guess I enjoyed it because I could relate to Elsa. The beginning is kinda slow but the childish stories do make more sense as the book goes on. I laughed and cried throughout the book.

I totally got Dance of Thieves for the middle 80% of Reckless but that twist! Not surprising but still dropped my jaw when it happened!

The Book of Doors sounds a lot like Ink Blood Sister which is one of my favorite books this year! It has the same basic concept of books that contain magic, but it was one of the most interesting writing styles I have ever seen. It follows two story lines/characters and the author uses that to answer questions that are brought up and slowly flesh out the story. I don't know if that makes any sense, but 10/10 would recommend to anyone. It's a book that I literally won't shut up about

I pushed through The Mortal Instruments enjoying the story but hating the element that you’re talking about. Isabelle grew on me reminding me a little of Cordelia Chase from Buffy and I now have all the main Shadow Hunter books either digitally or audibly. I haven’t read them all, but I will definitely get round to it pretty soon.
I feel like Reckless should've been the novella :(

34:31 From your comments, I’m almost certain you will like the last three The Mortal Instruments books better than the first three. Stakes are higher, character growth, new characters added, and the absence of your least favorite trope from the first three lol. I love listening to all of these through audiobooks. The British voice for The Infernal Devices audio is pretty good too.

As a massive horror and thriller books fan, I totally agree Murder Road feels more like a thriller. For me, the "horror" part it's a bit ambiguous and low develop.
I definitely prefer the more detailed reviews during your wrap ups!
I read a man called ove because of you des and it was so good. Instant 5 star for me and I also read how I’ll kill you and it was so disappointing, nothing of note happens until 200 pages in and I wanted to DNF so bad but I pushed through. Wasn’t worth it lol
