Ughhhhhhhh, as a romance reader, I hate that book will every single part of me. It was my first ever 2 star and I will stand by it every time I don't understand how it's rated so highly.🙈
the ending of this book made me so unbelievably angry (and was also so obviously predictable) that I literally randomly get angry and ruin my day sometimes when i think about it
The way I used to romanticize looking up “sad” on tumblr and spiraling down thinking what if I just ✨died✨ teehee what an absolutely terrible time for my mental health!!
When i started reading fanfic (at th ripe age of 12) i thought y/n was just a character i didnt understand, so i pronounced and read it as yin for years and cant see it any other way
i did this as well except i for some reason read it as ying yang. no idea where i got that from but it wasn't till years later that i found out what it meant lol
"I feel like it's the 1980's and I just got hit by a bus" is what i'm gonna say anytime I get slightly confused about anything. Thank you Lexi for having vast amounts of both wisdom and wit.
i think part of the reason why "y/n" is so poorly received is that it shoots itself in the foot by tying itself so strongly to k-pop, which has a very specific fan culture, because the book itself is, i think, more general than that. it's much more interested in questioning the nature of obsession and idolization than in k-pop or stan culture specifically. its detachment from reality wouldn't feel as strange if the premise of the book wasn't so (apparently) grounded in a real phenomenon. that said, i really enjoyed my time with it once i let go of that expectation of getting any semblance of connection to real life lmao
oh that’s a cool insight! I read it with essentially zero understanding of the k pop scene so I didn’t have that problem, that does contextualize some of the reactions to it
Someone on Goodreads described The Will of the Many as something to the effect of 'Red Rising except without Darrow moping over his dead wife every other paragraph' and that made me giggle
@@nospoonfulofmayonnaiseforme that's fair, and I definitely could have phrased my point better. I meant more that I felt it could have been done in potentially a better way, though I don't really know how to articulate what that way would be.

You know what Lexi? Fine, fine I’ll read Will of the Many. You’ve convinced me for what I think is the fifth or sixth time this year to finally read a book I’ve been eyeing for weeks.
