DOG MAN Is The Exact Type Of Film Dreamworks Needs To Make

- Recently a trailer dropped for a brand new Dreamworks film titled Dog Man, which is seemingly based on the popular’s children’s book series, also titled Dog Man. I gotta be honest I have absolutely NO idea of any lore to do with this franchise. A lot of this video was scouring wiki’s for information and learning off the plot summary of TH-cam. BUT the reason that I was doing that, was because despite having no attachment to the story the trailer was actually really good! And funny! Very keen to see how this movie performs. Lots more to discuss of course (not too much because I know very little, but hopefully some interesting reactions for you). Enjoy.
Well, I'm betting here and now that a TV show will probably follow the movie not too long after.
With what they’ve done with “The Bad Guys” and other films, I’d honestly not be surprised. 😅
That sounds like it would be epic
Agree the animation looks so unique and looks very good, btw the origin story for Dogman is surprisingly dark
As a person who read the first 3 books or so as a kid, I *really* liked Dogman but seeing a trailer shocked me that they’re *actually* doing a film on it now, but I’m honestly glad they can make this. 😅
Dreamworks experimenting and cooking again!🗣️💯💯🔥🙏
As a dog man fan who has all the book and even been him for a Halloween I'm really excited for this
I grew up with both Dog Man and Captain Underpants and man, I would definitely recommend reading them
It’s ironic how I got the Dog Man trailer as an ad while watching this video
Same
Yeah goofy and chaotic is what we need
This low-key restored my faith in dreamworks, all they have to do is cancel Shrek 5
Shrek 5 shouldn't be cancelled
@@cjgamer6356Shrek 4 was literally called the final chapter
*_Dog Man_* came out in 2016 and its 13th book is coming out on December 3, 2024. (I am still a collector with all 12 books 😀.) They’ve teased this movie since 2023, I think. But when I saw the trailer, I was completely caught off guard! The voices are really different than how I’ve imagined them and Sarah Hatoff, doesn’t even wear the same clothes as she does in the books. But now, this has kind of grown on me the same way *_The Bad Guys_* (2022) has. I’m really looking forward to this movie. It’ll come out in Australia 🇦🇺 on January 9, 2025, the United States 🇺🇸 on January 31, 2025, and the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on February 7, 2025.
I am a children's librarian and a couple of years ago designed a "Dog Man Escape Room" at my library for kids. In order to make it as immersive and accurate as possible for them I read all the Dog Man books in preparation for it. (And I've read every one that has come out since!)
When I opened the first book and saw the origin of how Dog Man came to be I rolled my eyes and thought "oh no this is just going to be dumb kiddy stuff, I'm not going to like this." But was surprised at how funny and well-written the books actually are.
The author, Dav Pilkey, obviously expects parents to be reading the books with their children too because there are plenty of jokes, mostly in the form of literary references, that the kids wouldn't get but parents would and they're hilarious!
Not only is the humor great for both the kids and parents, but they have a surprising amount of depth as well, especially when it comes to the relationship between Petey and Lil' Petey. The "lessons" they learn at the end of each book are always easy for kids to understand, but come across naturally and teach things like the importance of kindness, forgiveness, and compassion.
My final thought is that I think this movie is being made closer to the height of popularity of the Dog Man series than the Captain Underpants movie was in relation to its book series, so I think there might be more people interested in this movie than that one. I expect it to do very well and hope it does!
I used to love these books as a kid I’m pumped
The author is helping on working on this movie, too. I can really see the essence of the books in this trailer.
I loved DogMan and the Captain Underpants movie as a kid!! I’m very glad they made this movie and is one of the only movies I actually wanna see in theaters right now (the other being Sonic Movie 3 because I’m still stuck in my sonic “phase”)! Praying this will be one of the best movies of late 2024!!!
It’s nice seeing more of the dog and man before the accident that killed em
I have read some of the dog man books as a kid and I’m really looking forward to the movie it looks like it’s at least going to be as good as the captain underpants movie and that was so much fun
This movie is for younger viewers and not my slice of cake
Me: it's also like BlueSkys Peanuts Movie believe it or not
God, I hope The Wild Robot and Dog Man doesn't suck ass.
Also Smarty Pants, have you watched Murder Drones, Lackadaisy, The Amazing Digital Circus, Port By The Sea, Ramshackle, Dungeon Flippers, Pieces Of Powder, Paper World, and Catching Up?
If so or not, can you make a video about indie animation vs Hollywood studios/companies vs Japanese anime studios, please?
Second best here
Oh gosh. The comic was demented.
I would like you to review the amazing digital circus please. 🙏👏
Again with the childhood books
Honestly I'm kind of tired about every review or trailer reveiw for a movie being about it's box office performance
OMG FIRST!!!!!
