Why couldn’t this’ve just be 3D animated? Has anybody seen those Minecraft animations made by TH-camrs? Those are awesome! Why didn’t the film studios do that? Minecraft in live action is so wrong and it really highlights a theme in this modern era of movies. Everything is in live action and barely anything is animated, and I’m not sure why. In real life there’s only so much you could do with real actors than you can in animation. Animation has so much more freedom to allow the filmmakers (or whoever’s making the animation) to do what they want. With live action it’s different, because while the actors and possibly set designers are real, the rest of the environment isn’t and really just poses the question “why bother doing it in live action in the first place?” and this movie is a prime example of why animation should’ve been better

Everyone apologising to minecraft story mode because of this trailer makes me happy cause I LOVE MCSM lol. I never knew how hated MCSM was, also the only reason why I’ll watch this film is because it’s Minecraft and because Jack Black is in it.
Good news tho there's gonna be a remake TH-cam series of Minecraft Story Mode called Block By Block: The Amulet made by Wazzy and I know a lot of people had issues with the original game's story and writing that's why as a writer who specializes in rewriting other series I'll be rooting for Wazzy cause the plot and story will be reimagined into a fresh new story as stated by himself
But they could've at least made them a minecraft characters when they are entering into the Minecraft world than just leave them as live-action characters as it is.

I honestly thought this was gonna be animated CapSparkles style in his Dragonhearted saga, because that’s what grabbed the MC community by the throat. Like, little orphan avatar in the village, wonders why they look so much different than villagers and can do so much more than them. Goes on an adventure to find out what happened to human civilization (MattPat theory time) and keeps hearing legends of Steve whilst fighting monsters and finding clues. Eventually they find Steve but it’s.. Jack Black, as an old version of Steve (preserving our Steve’s memory) that’s beaten and worn bc he’s gone through the same journey as the Orphan Kid but failed to bring humans back or something, Hercules and Phil dynamic. Maybe they go to fight the Ender Dragon and the Wtiher or something, survive the Nether or find clues in the End. Whatever. Course you’ve gotta throw in some Herobrine in the background of every shot, end credit scene where he’s watching Kid and Steve through the End after defeating the Ender Dragon and looking very evil-and then they’ve got a second movie on their hands that’ll wring in more money. It’s not hard. Just do a literal search on TH-cam about your audience and you have material. We already have movies, we don’t need a 65 yr old CEO who’s only connection to the game is his great grand nephew who’s 5 and snots all over his iPad talking bout skibidi Steve. I wish they did what the Lego movie did. Make a unique animated story set in Minecraft filled with comedy and action with new Minecraft characters or well known Minecraft characters. Minecraft doesn’t have a story, the whole point is it’s an open world game where you create your own story. It could literally be about anything. I’m skeptical about the plot idea they are going with, I think them going so extreme on the visuals, making minecraft semi realistic, and putting famous faces on screen is Warner Bros trying to compensate for the bad cliche writing. No offense to people who love the newer Jumanji movie but my Dad has played that movie like 100 times to my little brother, so I’m sick of it honestly. 😅 I really hope there’s more to this movie.
This will be just another movie adaptation of a cartoon/game that makes everything hyperrealistic and introduces a random human characters to be a driving force, making it's own source material just a background/accessory for their adventure. It's not even a new thing, you can see it as far as _Alvin and The Chimpmunks_ or _Smurfs_ . It feels like screenwriters don't interact with the source product enough and don't believe people actually would want to see their favourite character getting a faithful animation, thinking it's too childish. I only remember one movie adaptation that didn't go this way and stayed in it's own premise and it's a goddam My Little Pony movie.
I could honestly get past the weird look of some of the models if the characters were also animated, Jesus, their so clearly green screened in and it looks awful 💀
The only silver lining I can think of is the fact that it seems to be INTENTIONALLY goofy beyond comprehension. Unlike Ugly Sonic, who was _accidently_ disgusting, the animals are _supposed_ to look absurd. And they clearly know that nobody is going to take Jack Black seriously. The way he says "I. Am. Steve." implies that they know its going to be a meme, and are trying to laugh at their own joke.
Because it’s not story-based, relying on the players to create their own narratives, I have low expectations for this. Afraid it’s going to be like the Emoji movie x Jumanji (the new movie). And trailers tend to include extra scenes that aren’t going to be in the final film to help avoid spoilers. Was this filmed in the US or in Europe? Because it’s giving same set vibes as Barbie and that was filmed in England, I believe.

The one way to fix this is by: - Paying the actors for their time on screen - Having those actors voice animated characters instead, ones that fit into the world better
Exactly restart and postpone for at least a year, and give animators time to fully redo movie. Make it like Mario with Sonic like animation if you have to. But don’t have the live action humans in it anymore and entirely have it set in Minecraft universe and not the stupid Smurfs and Jumanji type crap where it’s connected to a real life world. We’re tired of this clitche. Even Mario 2023 despite it starting in Brooklyn it was still the Mario universe.

Same, I barely play nowadays, but this feels like someone just came up to me to spit in my face. I still really like the lore of Minecraft and I doubt this movie would do it any justice. It's like they think Minecraft is just some kiddie game without a thought out world or a worthwhile story they can tell so they had to make it a joke about real people saying "wow, it's blocky, how quirky and weird!!!"
The sad truth of this slop is that it was made by corporate executives who have never actually played the game to appeal to kids who are too young to know the difference between a good movie and garbage. This movie was never meant for adult fans.
I think the director of the Minecraft Movie wants this to overthrow the popularity of Sonic’s cinematic universe, because I smell jealousy/envy. 1 - This teaser was dropped exactly a week after Sonic 3’s official trailer, a timeframe where hype is likely to settle down and ppl move onto the next thing. 2 - He said a while back that he’s hoping to “avoid an ugly Sonic situation,” and that he can’t “disappoint the 10 yr olds.”
Addressing Minecraft fans as "the 10 year olds" just shows how little this guy must know about Minecraft. And yeah, based on this, I think it's totally possible he might be trying to be better than Sonic instead of just trying to make a satisfying movie. 🤦

Minecraft despite not having a narrative is so open that you could’ve told any anthology story within it’s universe whether film or tv. But doing a stupid live action film that’s a rip off of Jumanji is terrible.
I know it's not perfect, but I feel like Minecraft story mode did the Minecraft narrative really well. It was true to the original game, but it still tried to do unique things, things which isn't "kill the dragon" or "generic strange land trope/isekai", and it had memorable characters and a great story, giving Minecraft fans something fresh and new, as well as great concepts. The Lego Movie also did this greatly, giving us a humourous and interesting take on the world of Lego, toys which you can use to build anything. The great thing about creating a movie about something like Minecraft or Lego is that you can do whatever you want with the story as long as it stays true to the source material since it doesn't have any lore or story, but the Minecraft movie took it a safe way and made a generic "goofy kids are trapped in the Minecraft world" from what we see in the trailer. Also, we have to adress the elephant in the room, the graphics. Whilst I think that stuff like the piglins and the landscape looks OK, some of the CGI like that pink sheep and llama look disgusting, and it feels like they only did that to get some cheap gags because let's be real, the only people who will unironically watch and enjoy this film are no older than 12. I mean, seriously, those "Minecraft IRL 2016" videos I watched when I was 11 looked better than whatever they were trying to do. Also, having human characters was a huge mistake, I know that they're from another world, but you could at least make them actually look OK by making them animated. Even better, you could make it stop motion like Coraline or Fantastic Mr Fox, which I think would work amazingly, but it's bold to assume Warner Bros cares that much about a movie which will do well anyways because of little kids and nostalgic millenials. What's even worse is the costume design, I've seen cosplayers which look 10x better than Jack Black trying to be Steve. Steve, I imagine, is supposed to be a very muscular and average-weight guy, not to mention that he has a small beard and hair. However, in the movie it looks like they put no effort into making Jack Black look like Steve, they just gave him a blue T-shirt and called it a day. Also, I bet that the reason why they hired Jack Black is only because he was in the Mario Movie, which was an actually good video game adaptation that did amazingly at the box, so Warner Bros were just trying to profit off of his success.
Unlike Lego, Minecraft actually does have quite a bit of lore and there's even a poem after defeating the dragon where two god like beings are talking to eachother before congratulating the player. Sure it's vague and you could even leave it out when writing a story, but the lore of the world is still there in the objectives, mobs and structures in the game.
Maybe on one hand they could have made the entire movie animated (even 2D-animated like why not more movies like Wolfwalkers) and center the story mostly around Steve (as in Steve looking like his original MC-skin, not Jack Black acting as Steve) & Alex and not create it for the sake of cash-grabbing but as a genuinely creative passion-project. I honestly really wish the Minecraft Movie Trailer we got instead was a joke, Minecraft Story Mode might as well deserve an long heartfelt apology from us.
I'd LIKE to believe this will go over like a lead balloon (as it deserves). But sadly, not many people practice the "vote with your wallet" policy that is meant to keep greedy studios from generating reject films like this one. You have to hit them where it hurts (NOT in reviews) in their BANK accounts. It doesn't matter whether a film was well-reviewed or not. If enough "fans" (consumers) still buy tickets, WB will get the idea that they can keep themselves afloat by exploiting our nostalgia and continuing to produce sub-par, lazy, poorly-animated kids movies.
The thing i hate the most about this movie is if they want real people to get sucked into Minecraft sure thats a cool idea a lot of potential but when they get sucked in why not make them blocky like the actual game? It makes zero sense
I think a live action minecraft movie would be cooler, if it wasn’t just 5 people walking around some props in a green screen room. I just think the lighting on the characters doesn’t feel right for this sort of bright and vibrant dimension. Only a little white light is reflected onto the characters, but yet the sun is extremely vibrant and yellow-ish. What I would think would be cool if they did an into the spider verse type style with everything, like if the main characters slowly become more and more blocky and minecraft-y. I don’t know, but I also think an animated version would be cooler, again, like the spider verse movie. Going back to the live action trailer, either they could do 2 things with Steve. Either just not cast Black to play the role, or atleast make him look similar to Steve in the game. All they did was slap a blue shirt on him and told him to play Steve from Minecraft. 🥶
Honestly having video game movies that are mixed with the video game world absolutely stinks. It ruins the movie and for the future of wat it wants to do or if it wants to expand more. Idk who's brilliant idea for mixing reality and video game in a movie andnjust put that as the title thought it was a good idea cause it really isn't. My take for the plot (big text incoming): Dismiss the two adult characters and leave just the girl and the boy. They would be like cousins and every vacation they would to their uncle's site where they find really nice adventures. Both of them are nice creators, the girl being more into mechanics and the boy in wood craft ir something (or not specific, just are good in construction), and the uncle was a very good constructor, he's the person who teach the kids everything they know. Also, obviously the girl and boy would like Minecraft (the game), with each one having a different experience with the game - the girl, who born in the end of 00s would understand the fist years of the game and knowledge things such Herobrine. The boy, born in early 2010s, would have more massive things like Minecraft TH-camrs, mods, this stuff. Sadly before a specific summer the uncle passed away, giving the kids some existential crisis or something, leaning to a portal to Minecraft to open. I really don't want this part to be like "oh no, we're stuck on here!" Cuz would be repetitive. They would just face it as it was normal, like a magical realism. Steve would appear, and being this "buff" guy let the kids being like "wtf, steve? You're... Different" and yeah, steve mirrors the uncle somehow. Basically they would need to go on a journey in a similar way to Dante's Inferno, till the Nether, where after the final battle the portal to home finally appears and everyone changed by this experience. In the course of the movie, lots of meta references to Minecraft stories would appear somehow. Like a void of skins, the kids comparing the creatures to that "Minecraft in real life" videos, even a place where the beta concepts where keep. I know it wouldn't be perfect, probably all fans would not love but clearly this film is going to be a more mainstream thing, to even not fans like, there's the "a Minecraft movie" title, cause is using the concept, not being THE ultimate movie. Let's see how it goes, anyway.
I feel like I could accept it better if they made it only a few kids and Steve. At least then there wouldn't be any "omg, this world is weird" jokes from the adult characters.

Honestly, the world animation is jarring and over realistic to say the least and it’s definitely giving me the reaction of “WTF did I just watch?” but frankly, I guess I didn’t care too much about it, it definitely deserves better sure, but I would suppress my hate and just watch it. Mainly beacuse of Jack Black tbh, but also I hope this movie would have a solid story plot. If it has, it would definitely be balanced out for me. TL;DR: The animation definitely deserves better, but I would watch it regardless.

The game doesn't have one, why cant the Minecraft movie just be some players exploring, making houses, farms, monuments ect and just be a heart warming comedic film. Exactly Minecraft is anthological like Fallout, Grand Theft Auto, Roblox, or Skyrim. You can tell any story in those universes. Fallout and Twisted Metal I hear are great tv series. And those are based on anthology types games with no concrete lore except basic rule stuff and character and world backgrounds. But otherwise are never ending stories.

i would have taken the concept of minecraft and made it completely live action, an apocaliptic world where steve and alex are sent on a mission by their village to slay the enderdragon, and this could be made into like, a series of moovies where in one they explore the nether, in another the trail chambers, and so on. it would have been a great mystery/fantasy movie

They had Minecraft Dungeons, Legends and Story Mode to choose from if they wanted to create a Minecraft storyline. And they had the perfect example of how to incorporate a sandbox, blocky, unique world into animation with the Lego movie. And they instead went with Jumanji 3: Bedrock Edition- Uncreative Mode.
The only thing we can do guys is not go to the movies, not even to laugh at how bad it is. The only way we have to make them understand that it doesn't work is that they don't get back the money they spent on this. They are not going to change anything for the better now, the only way they will improve or abandon the IP so that in the future a production company that is interested in the actual game will pick it up; it's if we make it fail. In real life there’s only so much you could do with real actors than you can in animation. Animation has so much more freedom to allow the filmmakers (or whoever’s making the animation) to do what they want. With live action it’s different, because while the actors and possibly set designers are real, the rest of the environment isn’t and really just poses the question “why bother doing it in live action in the first place?” and this movie is a prime example of why animation should’ve been better

Everyone apologising to minecraft story mode because of this trailer makes me happy cause I LOVE MCSM lol. I never knew how hated MCSM was, also the only reason why I’ll watch this film is because it’s Minecraft and because Jack Black is in it.
Good news tho there's gonna be a remake TH-cam series of Minecraft Story Mode called Block By Block: The Amulet made by Wazzy and I know a lot of people had issues with the original game's story and writing that's why as a writer who specializes in rewriting other series I'll be rooting for Wazzy cause the plot and story will be reimagined into a fresh new story as stated by himself
I enjoyed MCSM too, so it was funny to see a lot of people apologize for being harsh on story mode when they saw the trailer for the movie. 🤣

I honestly thought this was gonna be animated CapSparkles style in his Dragonhearted saga, because that’s what grabbed the MC community by the throat.
Like, little orphan avatar in the village, wonders why they look so much different than villagers and can do so much more than them. Goes on an adventure to find out what happened to human civilization (MattPat theory time) and keeps hearing legends of Steve whilst fighting monsters and finding clues. Eventually they find Steve but it’s.. Jack Black, as an old version of Steve (preserving our Steve’s memory) that’s beaten and worn bc he’s gone through the same journey as the Orphan Kid but failed to bring humans back or something, Hercules and Phil dynamic.
Maybe they go to fight the Ender Dragon and the Wtiher or something, survive the Nether or find clues in the End. Whatever. Course you’ve gotta throw in some Herobrine in the background of every shot, end credit scene where he’s watching Kid and Steve through the End after defeating the Ender Dragon and looking very evil-and then they’ve got a second movie on their hands that’ll wring in more money. It’s not hard. Just do a literal search on TH-cam about your audience and you have material. We already have movies, we don’t need a 65 yr old CEO who’s only connection to the game is his great grand nephew who’s 5 and snots all over his iPad talking bout skibidi Steve. I wish they did what the Lego movie did. Make a unique animated story set in Minecraft filled with comedy and action with new Minecraft characters or well known Minecraft characters. Minecraft doesn’t have a story, the whole point is it’s an open world game where you create your own story. It could literally be about anything. I’m skeptical about the plot idea they are going with, I think them going so extreme on the visuals, making minecraft semi realistic, and putting famous faces on screen is Warner Bros trying to compensate for the bad cliche writing. No offense to people who love the newer Jumanji movie but my Dad has played that movie like 100 times to my little brother, so I’m sick of it honestly. 😅 I really hope there’s more to this movie.

This will be just another movie adaptation of a cartoon/game that makes everything hyperrealistic and introduces a random human characters to be a driving force, making it's own source material just a background/accessory for their adventure. It's not even a new thing, you can see it as far as _Alvin and The Chimpmunks_ or _Smurfs_ . It feels like screenwriters don't interact with the source product enough and don't believe people actually would want to see their favourite character getting a faithful animation, thinking it's too childish.
I only remember one movie adaptation that didn't go this way and stayed in it's own premise and it's a goddam My Little Pony movie.

The only silver lining I can think of is the fact that it seems to be INTENTIONALLY goofy beyond comprehension. Unlike Ugly Sonic, who was _accidently_ disgusting, the animals are _supposed_ to look absurd. And they clearly know that nobody is going to take Jack Black seriously. The way he says "I. Am. Steve." implies that they know its going to be a meme, and are trying to laugh at their own joke.

Because it’s not story-based, relying on the players to create their own narratives, I have low expectations for this. Afraid it’s going to be like the Emoji movie x Jumanji (the new movie). And trailers tend to include extra scenes that aren’t going to be in the final film to help avoid spoilers. Was this filmed in the US or in Europe? Because it’s giving same set vibes as Barbie and that was filmed in England, I believe.

Exactly restart and postpone for at least a year, and give animators time to fully redo movie. Make it like Mario with Sonic like animation if you have to. But don’t have the live action humans in it anymore and entirely have it set in Minecraft universe and not the stupid Smurfs and Jumanji type crap where it’s connected to a real life world. We’re tired of this clitche. Even Mario 2023 despite it starting in Brooklyn it was still the Mario universe.

Same, I barely play nowadays, but this feels like someone just came up to me to spit in my face. I still really like the lore of Minecraft and I doubt this movie would do it any justice. It's like they think Minecraft is just some kiddie game without a thought out world or a worthwhile story they can tell so they had to make it a joke about real people saying "wow, it's blocky, how quirky and weird!!!"

Minecraft despite not having a narrative is so open that you could’ve told any anthology story within it’s universe whether film or tv. But doing a stupid live action film that’s a rip off of Jumanji is terrible.

I know it's not perfect, but I feel like Minecraft story mode did the Minecraft narrative really well. It was true to the original game, but it still tried to do unique things, things which isn't "kill the dragon" or "generic strange land trope/isekai", and it had memorable characters and a great story, giving Minecraft fans something fresh and new, as well as great concepts. The Lego Movie also did this greatly, giving us a humourous and interesting take on the world of Lego, toys which you can use to build anything.
The great thing about creating a movie about something like Minecraft or Lego is that you can do whatever you want with the story as long as it stays true to the source material since it doesn't have any lore or story, but the Minecraft movie took it a safe way and made a generic "goofy kids are trapped in the Minecraft world" from what we see in the trailer.
Also, we have to adress the elephant in the room, the graphics. Whilst I think that stuff like the piglins and the landscape looks OK, some of the CGI like that pink sheep and llama look disgusting, and it feels like they only did that to get some cheap gags because let's be real, the only people who will unironically watch and enjoy this film are no older than 12. I mean, seriously, those "Minecraft IRL 2016" videos I watched when I was 11 looked better than whatever they were trying to do. Also, having human characters was a huge mistake, I know that they're from another world, but you could at least make them actually look OK by making them animated. Even better, you could make it stop motion like Coraline or Fantastic Mr Fox, which I think would work amazingly, but it's bold to assume Warner Bros cares that much about a movie which will do well anyways because of little kids and nostalgic millenials.
What's even worse is the costume design, I've seen cosplayers which look 10x better than Jack Black trying to be Steve. Steve, I imagine, is supposed to be a very muscular and average-weight guy, not to mention that he has a small beard and hair. However, in the movie it looks like they put no effort into making Jack Black look like Steve, they just gave him a blue T-shirt and called it a day. Also, I bet that the reason why they hired Jack Black is only because he was in the Mario Movie, which was an actually good video game adaptation that did amazingly at the box, so Warner Bros were just trying to profit off of his success.
Unlike Lego, Minecraft actually does have quite a bit of lore and there's even a poem after defeating the dragon where two god like beings are talking to eachother before congratulating the player. Sure it's vague and you could even leave it out when writing a story, but the lore of the world is still there in the objectives, mobs and structures in the game.

Maybe on one hand they could have made the entire movie animated (even 2D-animated like why not more movies like Wolfwalkers) and center the story mostly around Steve (as in Steve looking like his original MC-skin, not Jack Black acting as Steve) & Alex and not create it for the sake of cash-grabbing but as a genuinely creative passion-project. I honestly really wish the Minecraft Movie Trailer we got instead was a joke, Minecraft Story Mode might as well deserve an long heartfelt apology from us.

I'd LIKE to believe this will go over like a lead balloon (as it deserves). But sadly, not many people practice the "vote with your wallet" policy that is meant to keep greedy studios from generating reject films like this one. You have to hit them where it hurts (NOT in reviews) in their BANK accounts. It doesn't matter whether a film was well-reviewed or not. If enough "fans" (consumers) still buy tickets, WB will get the idea that they can keep themselves afloat by exploiting our nostalgia and continuing to produce sub-par, lazy, poorly-animated kids movies.

The thing i hate the most about this movie is if they want real people to get sucked into Minecraft sure thats a cool idea a lot of potential but when they get sucked in why not make them blocky like the actual game? It makes zero sense
I think a live action minecraft movie would be cooler, if it wasn’t just 5 people walking around some props in a green screen room. I just think the lighting on the characters doesn’t feel right for this sort of bright and vibrant dimension. Only a little white light is reflected onto the characters, but yet the sun is extremely vibrant and yellow-ish. What I would think would be cool if they did an into the spider verse type style with everything, like if the main characters slowly become more and more blocky and minecraft-y. I don’t know, but I also think an animated version would be cooler, again, like the spider verse movie. Going back to the live action trailer, either they could do 2 things with Steve. Either just not cast Black to play the role, or atleast make him look similar to Steve in the game. All they did was slap a blue shirt on him and told him to play Steve from Minecraft. 🥶

Honestly having video game movies that are mixed with the video game world absolutely stinks. It ruins the movie and for the future of wat it wants to do or if it wants to expand more. Idk who's brilliant idea for mixing reality and video game in a movie andnjust put that as the title thought it was a good idea cause it really isn't. Why not just have the movie set in the world of Minecraft other than wat we shown here and yeah sorry but the goat and llama are just tooo disturbing to look at just full on creepy vibes could've made them look at least decent enough but really do bit look like wat u would see in the game well maybe a knock off version.
My take for the plot (big text incoming):
Dismiss the two adult characters and leave just the girl and the boy. They would be like cousins and every vacation they would to their uncle's site where they find really nice adventures. Both of them are nice creators, the girl being more into mechanics and the boy in wood craft ir something (or not specific, just are good in construction), and the uncle was a very good constructor, he's the person who teach the kids everything they know. Also, obviously the girl and boy would like Minecraft (the game), with each one having a different experience with the game - the girl, who born in the end of 00s would understand the fist years of the game and knowledge things such Herobrine. The boy, born in early 2010s, would have more massive things like Minecraft TH-camrs, mods, this stuff.
Sadly before a specific summer the uncle passed away, giving the kids some existential crisis or something, leaning to a portal to Minecraft to open.
I really don't want this part to be like "oh no, we're stuck on here!" Cuz would be repetitive. They would just face it as it was normal, like a magical realism.
Steve would appear, and being this "buff" guy let the kids being like "wtf, steve? You're... Different" and yeah, steve mirrors the uncle somehow.
Basically they would need to go on a journey in a similar way to Dante's Inferno, till the Nether, where after the final battle the portal to home finally appears and everyone changed by this experience.
In the course of the movie, lots of meta references to Minecraft stories would appear somehow. Like a void of skins, the kids comparing the creatures to that "Minecraft in real life" videos, even a place where the beta concepts where keep.
I know it wouldn't be perfect, probably all fans would not love but clearly this film is going to be a more mainstream thing, to even not fans like, there's the "a Minecraft movie" title, cause is using the concept, not being THE ultimate movie.
Let's see how it goes, anyway.
I feel like I could accept it better if they made it only a few kids and Steve. At least then there wouldn't be any "omg, this world is weird" jokes from the adult characters.

Honestly, the world animation is jarring and over realistic to say the least and it’s definitely giving me the reaction of “WTF did I just watch?” but frankly, I guess I didn’t care too much about it, it definitely deserves better sure, but I would suppress my hate and just watch it. Mainly beacuse of Jack Black tbh, but also I hope this movie would have a solid story plot. If it has, it would definitely be balanced out for me.
TL;DR: The animation definitely deserves better, but I would watch it regardless.
I’m hyped for it because at the end of the day it’s still a Minecraft movie and I wanna watch it for that alone, it’s a shame how they’re ruining the opportunity to make something that would be truly amazing

The game doesn't have one, why cant the Minecraft movie just be some players exploring, making houses, farms, monuments ect and just be a heart warming comedic film. Exactly Minecraft is anthological like Fallout, Grand Theft Auto, Roblox, or Skyrim. You can tell any story in those universes. Fallout and Twisted Metal I hear are great tv series. And those are based on anthology types games with no concrete lore except basic rule stuff and character and world backgrounds. But otherwise are never ending stories.

They had Minecraft Dungeons, Legends and Story Mode to choose from if they wanted to create a Minecraft storyline. And they had the perfect example of how to incorporate a sandbox, blocky, unique world into animation with the Lego movie.

The only thing we can do guys is not go to the movies, not even to laugh at how bad it is. The only way we have to make them understand that it doesn't work is that they don't get back the money they spent on this. They are not going to change anything for the better now, the only way they will improve or abandon the IP so that in the future a production company that is interested in the actual game will pick it up; it's if we make it fail.
