As a former member of the US Army, I find this type of video disgusting. What you showed is a war crime, killing an unarmed man. If that had been a US drone chasing an Afghani or Iraqi, the drone pilot would have been found out and sent to military prison for life. The liberal media would have eviscerated that service member. While completely impersonal because of the actual distance from operator to target, the fact that the operator stalks an individual soldier for a period of time, getting close enough to see the terror and tiredness in their face is haunting. In a way it is even more personal than combat in the field, you are watching them try to survive, running away from you, scared. Many times defenseless to the eventual kill shot, it's harsh.
Yeah it is brutally impersonal, but that what you have to do with asymmetrical warfare against a much more powerful invading opponent.

I can understand your feelings about what you saw here in this video.
However it's as important for you to note that this man was an enemy combatant of whom chose to run away, and then to capture this drone.
In capturing the drone, and running away with it, he in effect doubled down on his position as am enemy combatant when he could have surrendered to the drone, and followed the drone back to the Ukrainian authorities.
A lot of us have seen this type of surrendering many, many times. There is no shame in it, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces have consistently shown tremendous care and humanity to surrendered enemy combatants time, and time again.
In addition, this war itself began with an illegal invasion of and into the sovereign rights of the nation of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian people, it's government, and it's Armed Forces deploy the constant rights to defend, and secure it's people, land, and values.
Wars are not pretty for anyone, and there is nothing joyous about them.
Unfortunately in instances such as this, they are necessary.

Well, what else you'd call a flying "vehicle" thing that destroys itself by an explosion when impacting the target to destroy it?
Only difference from Japanese WWII planes is in that the pilot survives. But the "vehicle" gets destroyed anyway, and it's not a rocket, shell, bomb or whatever else. It's a small aerial vehicle that, normally, should be used for other purposes (like reconnaissance, small cargo delivery and other tasks).

However, for the sake of all still living on both sides, I hope the soldier's mother and all mothers of Russian soldiers see the video, for it seems the protests and political pressure brought to bear by Soviet mothers outraged by the deaths of loved ones fighting in Afghanistan in the 1980s played a significant role in the decision to finally withdraw Soviet Forces from that country. Russian casualties in Ukraine are already at least an order of magnitude higher than what the Soviets suffered in their ten years in Afghanistan.

He's not "unarmed" by law. He would only become unarmed if he surrendered. Just because he isn't holding a weapon at the moment, he's still a member of an enemy armed force, and he's still performing his duties within the organization. At this moment, this duty was to withdraw and prevent his own loss. If he managed, he would've gotten a new gun, and came back armed. Regardless which side you support or maybe neither, this is the internationally accepted standard.

So let me see if I have this correct. We got a drone doing recon, finds soldiers in trench, dragon drone is deployed and set fire to everything in and around the trenches the soldiers then get out of the trenches and run but the machine gun drone is waiting for them to come out. Once the fires are at a minimum the drone dogs will be sent to look inside and recon drones from above. Entire operation is done with repeaters from 10 to 15 km away. Entire trench system cleared without one soldier being lost, can one imagine.

1. The drone operator didn't detonate the bomb/grenade deliberately, but it was triggered when it was dropped to the ground. I actually find this the most plausible one.
2. This was bloody revenge for some war crime perpetrated against the drone operator's comrades, family etc.
3. The drone operator is actually a sadist.
