WE MONTREALERS ARE VERY PROUD OF OUR CP TEAM THAT CAME UP WITH THIS IDEA 20YRS AGO. ITS OUR CANADIAN PRIDE, LOVE AND WAY OF HELPING. MAY YOU AMERICANS ENJOY IT AS MUCH AS WE DO. CHEERS.
I don't know what brings me here in the middle of summer, actually I do, youtube suggestions. Really enjoyed the Christmas themed railroad action. I'll have to watch this one again at the right time of year.
Mmm I love that bridge shot! I guess we probably passed each other in Mechanicville cause I remember all the other TH-camrs were at the front filming 2446 lol.
Thanks! Yeah, if you haven't tried that bridge shot I highly recommend it... one of my favorite spots. Usually the local goes by northbound at 8:30 - 9:00am. When I saw the local there I knew I had to shoot the holiday train there. Yeah, there were a lot of people around the head of the train in Mechanicville, heard the CP Police radio to the head end to use lots of horn & bell leaving town. Sure needed it!
@@RiverLineProductions thegeneral electric Waterford now momentive products they have a train every single night of the week that goes up usually around 9 p.m. and works the yard at the plant till 2 or 3 in the morning and then comes back to Albany the paper mill in Cohoes used to have two trains during the week at night but I think they switch to daytime operation I think they were d44 that work the paper mill I don't know what the train number is that works the GE plant but they take a load of tankers and boxcars up every night and bring back the full box cars and empty tank cars Other than that the line is usually quiet at night But during the day they will Fleet and if you monitor the control points on ATCS you will see the indicator for fleet traffic when that bit is set you'll usually see at least three trains running about 15 minutes apart each The BCPS are easier to pick up but they only transmit the Control Data five or six times a day basically they transmit the orders to the mcps as soon as they are able to and the mcps respond and set the line and signals when they are able to so the control indicators you get from the BCPS may be hours before the actual trains will come through BCPs peas are real time so you get the indication of what's happening on the track at that moment when no activity is detected they transmit the current status every 60 seconds from each control point it's really amazing to see the display that is very similar to what the dispatcher sees it's really helpful for people who photographed reigns to be able to get in the right location and be ready
in Cohoes on the left side behind the bridge the high-rise that's lit up is McDonald Towers and to the right of that is Cayuga plaza, and to the right of that is the old Harmony Mills number 4, 2 and 1 the train is traveling from the Cohoes side to the Waterford side across the Black bridge across the Mohawk River this track used to be double track from Albany to Mechanicville but the double track was taken out south of mile post 10.1 In 1987 there was still a switch and a signal at 10.1 on the North end of the bridge It was taken out sometime in the early 90s

the paper mill in Cohoes used to have two trains during the week at night but I think they switch to daytime operation
I think they were d44 that work the paper mill
I don't know what the train number is that works the GE plant but they take a load of tankers and boxcars up every night and bring back the full box cars and empty tank cars
Other than that the line is usually quiet at night
But during the day they will Fleet and if you monitor the control points on ATCS you will see the indicator for fleet traffic
when that bit is set you'll usually see at least three trains running about 15 minutes apart each
The BCPS are easier to pick up but they only transmit the Control Data five or six times a day
basically they transmit the orders to the mcps as soon as they are able to and the mcps respond and set the line and signals when they are able to
so the control indicators you get from the BCPS may be hours before the actual trains will come through
BCPs peas are real time so you get the indication of what's happening on the track at that moment
when no activity is detected they transmit the current status every 60 seconds from each control point
it's really amazing to see the display that is very similar to what the dispatcher sees
it's really helpful for people who photographed reigns to be able to get in the right location and be ready

Thanks! Probably my favorite train out there as well!
Yeah pretty cool to bad it doesn’t come by me
Great video of the christmas. hope you like mine diesel dave's .

If you log any data from CP Rail on these control points, please post the logs to the ATCS monitor group on io
the control points have been updated since I used to live up there and was able to feed the data
We don't have anyone up there who monitors the control points for the group anymore
the terrain makes it extremely difficult to get signals from more than one or two control points from any given location except for Bald mountain in Troy which provides coverage of a large area but that's the only place in the entire region high enough to receive more than one or two control points at a time
The helderberg escarpment is also a great spot for receiving the mohawk yard and the control points heading down i-88
lots of history up there I used to watch the trains work the Cohoes yard right across from my apartment back in the late 60s and 70s
The yard was taken out in the 80s
I miss the D & H trains
So much pride and history on that line
I remember when the tracks ran in the middle of the city of Troy and the yard in Troy just below where the old Troy bridge used to be
The tracks used to run up through lansingburgh and there was a yard up near pleasantdale
It used to be a really nice area with a lot of working-class people
I remember in the sixties and seventies driving along the boulevard on 7th and 8th avenue in lansingburgh up around 120th Street
during the Christmas season everyone took pride with decorating the outside of their house and it was so beautiful
So many memories from that time and that area
Great Video... What camera do u use if i may ask
Thanks! I use the Canon Vixia HF G40
I’m gonna see this guy on Sunday night in LaCrescent
I was wondering if you use a video camera or a digital camera to record. Do you also use a tripod. I liked the shot on the Mohawk river.
Was that Allan Doyle!? lol
This was so great! Thanks so much for sharing!!
Easy to see none of those cars on that holiday train ever saw one night in a Jersey train yard or they'd be completely covered in grafiti.
I was there too
Cohoes and Waterford are no horn zones, I think Watervliet also is no horn
Not sure why they are blowing the horn
