    There's a subtle tragedy in Amon. All his life all he ever chased was unconditional love and acceptance. And because of the environment he was raised in, he came to believe it can only achieved through power.
    Only in the end did he realize he already had all that he wanted in Echo. And he ripped it apart with his own two hands.

    Judai doesn't fall immediately, he is under immense pressure the entire third season.
    He suffers from being forced in a position of responsibility, when all he wants is to play his favorite game.
    The last two times he had to save Academia. put a severe strain on him.
    And he knows he is the only one that can do something when Yubel starts doing the same. The series kinda lampshades/acknowledges how useless the rest of the Academia cast is and how all they do is rely on Judai to save them all.

      @whitedragonzerureusu4480 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +21

      Yes as you say in your words: 'He suffers from being forced in a position of responsibility'. Doing that is really unfair and just puts a lot of pressure on to one person to do what you want them to do or would like them to do. In doing so your taking away their freedom of choice, autonamy and their difference/uniqeness to yours and it pressures and forcing them to do things against their will. It also brings in a lot of peer pressure from other people. And it can also potentially make them do things they don't want to or care about. Which is then forcing them to do what you would like them to do otherwise you think they are a bad person or you dislike them/hate them if they don't do what YOU want. That's the kind of mindset that is. Which is very selfish and self-centered to do. And you are not wrong with how useless/bad the rest of the students and teachers of that academia turned out... Instead of blaming Judai/Jaden why didn't they do any self reflections on how weak they themselves were? Or think of how to improve themselves? It's their own fault for relying too much on someone else. They were all too dependant on one person to save their ass*s which i think is unrealistic

    Judai's character arc is simply amazing because it deconstructs classic Shonen archetype (at the time) he was inspired with. Everyone calls him out on his bullshit and he suffers long-lasting consequences because of his actions.
    Amon is a hateable, but a great character that plays off against Judai and Yubel perfectly. His fall from grace was really something when even Yubel was digusted with the way he treated Echo.

Brron then went nope and used a card that forced Jaden to battle, with his friends saying "Jaden no." "Don't let him." "Jaden please don't let this happen." As if he was making the choice or could stop.
      And let's say Jaden chose to give up and sacrifice himself by losing the duel. Brron still had his friends captured and would have still used them as the sacrifices for super poly since that was his plan the whole time.

    1 thing that I always fail to understand is, why is Judai blamed for the death of his "friends" to Bronn? He specifically told them to not come with him to the other dimension, they did anyway. After that he found a safe place for them and told them to stay there, they yet again didn't listen. I understand that he was irrational during this whole thing but I just don't see what was he supposed to do.

    • @Adamame93
      @Adamame93  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

      Judai is naturally a leader and his friends will follow him, hell or high water. His naivety is what makes him unfit to be a leader because he doesn’t think about his team’s strengths or weaknesses to not have them in danger. In Fred’s hideout, Asuka (Alexis) and O’Brian (Axel I think in English?) tell him to stay put while they figure out a plan and he stills decides to rush off with minimal information because there’s a slight chance that Johan (Jesse) is at the prison camp. He went out with no plan or back up in a foreign world with the knowledge that if he loses a duel, he dies. I would say more, but I’m saving that for a different video 😉 Thanks for watching!

    Fantastic video! There's one detail you missed, understandably so because GX didn't explain it well.
    When Yubel gave Adrian the arm, they instructed Adrian to tame Exodia then Rendezvous at Yubel's throne room. For some reason, we never get to see this conversation. Instead we get a line in the sub where Amon mentions "following Yubel's orders to the letter". Yubel explains that it was all a setup and that the plan was to corrupt Amon to the point where his soul could be consumed. This is all cut from the dub. My theory is that a bunch of Adrian/Yubel scenes were cut, which caused us to miss context.

    • @Adamame93
      @Adamame93  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      If you want to view Tag Force 3 as something of a continuation of Adrian/Amon's arc if it were revealed he got revived like everyone else because in Aster/Edo's final story event it's revealed that he is trying to get enough duel energy to be able to go back to the other dimension with the hope of saving Echo where he laments to Aster "People never realize what they have... until it's gone."
      So just thought to share as was neat to bring up and tvtropes here:
      Corrupted Character Copy: Of Seto Kaiba. He, like Kaiba was adopted into a wealthy family, he's a Badass Bookworm, and he has a little brother who he wants to protect...except not really on that last one. Unlike Kaiba, who truly cared for Mokuba, Amon secretly despises Sid, his adoptive younger brother, for stifling his ambitions, being a weak and naïve child pampered by his blood parents compared to Amon's talents and hard work. Echo can be seen as a Shadow Archetype to Kisara as well, since she sacrificed herself out of love to help him obtain the ultimate monster - the difference being, of course, that Amon wanted this to happen and deliberately sacrificed her, whereas Seto was driven to villainy because Kisara was lost thanks to Akhenaden's machinations and would never desire to hurt her. Amon also generally lacks Kaiba's ego and bombastic qualities, being a much more calm, calculating schemer. It's worth noting that Amon ultimately abandons his Cloudians in favor of Exodia, the monster that caused Kaiba's most noteworthy defeat, while Kaiba, no matter how he changed or upgraded his deck, never abandoned his Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Essentially, he's Kaiba, minus all the things that make Kaiba likeable.

    5:15 this is only really true when they first arrived and Judai had no idea how dangerous the Dark World was - every other time he rushed ahead and did things solo, it was because he was specifically trying to protect his friends from/keep them out of danger because he now knew one loss would mean death.
    Obviously they went after him anyway and got captured twice but that was their own fault tbh - he was trying to do what was right and keep his friends out of the fray, even if he primary goal was rescuing Johan.
    He actually stormed multiple fortresses alone (despite the huge risk considering the sheer odds he'd be facing) because he wanted to search for Johan while also getting rid of all of the fiends who could put his friends in danger.

    I think the part about Judai's story that always interested me was that after season 3, it would be easy to just leave him as a mature, stoic person who duels seriously since it would match up with how he matured after the third season. Instead those, we get episodes where this newfound sense of maturity starts to cause him some problems in his relationships with others (the tag duel tournament comes into mind) alongside his own mental health (distance from friends)
    The final episodes being Judai winding up in the past and meeting Yugi (a more literal starting line for Yugioh GX than Season 1) before having a low stakes (for them) duel for fun serves as a good ending to his character development: there are times where he needs to be serious and focused but vice versa there are times where Judai can just enjoy the duel and have fun. It's not being just one or the other; instead its being both and just using the right one at the appropriate time

      The fact hes made the conscious decision to save Jesse all by himself is a selfish action. Jesse didn't ask to be saved he made the righteous decision to save everyone through his dueling by sacrificing himself to return Academy back to Earth. But what does Jaden do? He goes outta his way to rescue someone that didnt want to rescued by springing forth to a Dimension Portal that he doesnt even know where it leads without telling anybody that he's leaving (Even more selfish).
      Only reason his friends knew about it is cause the Ojamas saw him with Kuriboh and relayed it back to Chazz, relaying it to everyone else.
      Jaden then abandons his friends and morals because he was so pinfocus on Jesse. He asked a dying stranger that looks identical to Jesse if he knew where Jesse was (as if that stranger even knows a name like that). Jaden takes on a quest to go search Freeds comrades getting a map to all their potential whereabouts but his true intentions wasnt to save his comrades it was to get inkling on where Jesse could be and if he finds Jesse on this quest he'll abandon it completely, another selfish motive.
      When Jaden found those Ducks to ride he runs off ahead of everyone else leaving them behind & abandoning them cause he took everything upon himself without taking everyone elses prospects about it, more selfishness.
      As said in this video, in trying to save Johan/Jesse he endangers those around him. Unless it was for a greater good these actions would be justified but Johan busted his butt trying to save not just you but everyone in the Academy and you wanna tarnish that all for him. He was asking a lot of people if they knew about jesse because he was trying to save jesse, i don't think that's a bad thing to do, maybe while someone's father was dying I agree that was not the best time to ask. about the ducks situation, he didn't even notice them being left behind, he was very focused on saving jesse. i don't think this was very selfish because like i said earlier, him avoiding others to be at risk of dying and putting only himself at risk is what i belive the opposite of selfishness. as for everyone else trying to save jesse, i understand everyone else was trying to save jesse as well, but jaden was trying to do it by himself and by doing so others wouldn't have to be at risk of dying. because of this I don't think jaden was selfish. i think what he did was okay even if it did make it harder because you can't realy see into the future and you don't know what will happen next.

They knew this was some kind of ploy by Yubel to ofc they follow him to that Dimension. Jaden become so influential to his friends and fellow colleagues he remains blind to it.
      The selfless action wouldve been to wait until somebody more authoritative came through such as Seto Kaiba or some adult and not bare every responsibility for himself. But theyre children playing childrens card games, they think they know everything now.

      @@SiNKarnage but you don't know if jesse wanted to be saved or not, and i belive he wanted to be saved because after jaden saved him jesse was very gratefull and once jaden come to rescue crysta lbeasts were helping jaden to save jesse. also that logic doesn't realy make sense, if people stopped helping others because they didn't ask for help like in emergencies then situation would be much worse. it's truth that jaden didn't know werther jesse was alive or not, but he still took the chance because he wanted to help his friend and because he's a good person and he tried doing it alone. even if it was a trap, jaden couldn't have known that, he just wanted to save his friend and that's a good thing. and yes it is gambling, but he was willing to take the chance because he is a good person and is not looking out for himself only, he wants others to be safe too even with his life being in risk. how is that selfish? and this is not about jaden being with jesse, this is about jaden saving jesse. jaden didn't do that just so he can hang out with jesse, he did it so he can help him and save him. jaden aknowledges that could be a trap, but then again everyone had the choice to either go or leave. they didn't have to stay, however everyone decided to go with jaden, that's their own choice, they are not children, they should be able to make thier own choices. jaden was willing to take the risk, if others were just trying to save jaden and they failed then they should've just left if they didn't want to safve jesse. jaden obviously wanted to go alone. and no, they don't think they know everything, in fact jaden is very humble. he learns a lot in season 3 and he would never underestimate his opponent. i don't understand how any of this is selfish, how is saving your friend selfish? how is jaden saving jesse dishonouring him when it literally helps both of them, it just makes no sense.

      @@rookiegamer1234 Its Selfish cause you can tell by his actions leading to the point he became Supreme King. Be honest was he really trying to save Jesse just to save him? If so why would he go through such lengths such as neglecting those around him, demanding answers out of a dying man and making false promises he cant keep all to achieve that goal of saving an assumed dead person? Jaden trys to hide behind the guise as "just saving him" but in truth he just can't let go of Jesse. Jesse is as much an influence on Jaden than he is to his fellow colleages. That is what makes it selfish no matter how its sliced.
      Jaden didnt know Jesse needed saving before his duel with Yubel who was wearing Jesse's body like a shell because Jesse's soul was no longer in their. After chipping away at the Crystal Beast that was when news came out that the real Jesse soul was locked in the Rainbow Dragon. That is when the selfish act turned selfless because Jaden knows beyond a shadow of doubt Jesse has not left us and ACTUALLY needed saving because he was asked by the Crystal Beast.
      If Zane, Edo, Chazz and everybody elses deaths were irreversable and Jesse heard about this he never wouldve wished to be saved to begin with. Thankfully because of Jadens most selfless act in S3 Climax, fusing with Yubel instead of taking revenge out on her thereby changing Yubels heart, everybody got back to Earth safe and sound.

    One aspect I think that should have been touched upon is how their boss monsters also reflect themselves. Adrian’s exodios is very hard to summon, but it’s very hard to deal with once it gets started. It grows stronger through aggression, and it’s immune to all monster effects your opponent can throw at them, but its power is ultimately gained through sacrifice. Its only real weakness is targeting it through an ally, the same way Echo was the key to defeating Adrian.
    Likewise, rainbow Neos is a very hard to summon card, made doubly so because there are likely only 1 copy of both of the fusion materials currently in existence. Its abilities are also similarly gained through sacrifice, and its equip card also has ability negating properties. One thing that shines through, however, is that its base attack is stronger than exodios’ can reach, as R. Neos was born through the friendship between Jesse and Jaden, which is stronger than echo and Adrian’s relationship could be

      Same with Fullmetal alchemist, manga is well thought out but the 2003 adaptation is just better than it in almost every way despite having more plot holes.

    An interesting argument is if it’s worse to fall to your darkness immediately when you’re faced with strong adversity; or to have held one through so much only to still turn to your darkness. For Amon, this was one of the first true chances for him to give into his darkness; if he killed his brother nothing good would’ve come from that. So now that he is in this world he can sacrifice echo and finally try to become a king
