    It turned out even better than I imagined. Beautiful, classy, the wood with the bronze liners perfectly matched. And the Roadie was the perfect tool. Now it's a true limited edition.

    Been really stressed about funds lately. I think I’ve balanced again, with some help. In high school a buddy of mine came into a few Swiss Army knives. He sold me one for $4.50. Paid in quarters and I loved it. Yeah it was fake but it did give me a life long love if the Swiss Army knife. I own probably 12 right now. Love what your doing and I am saving for a custom myself

    That's a great feature set. More of an EDC bag or belt pouch carry but I dig it, you can't beat having 2 blades imo, one for dirty work, one for clean or precision work and you only need to get an infected nail once from tearing off a damaged nail before you start to realise that having scissors and a nail file to hand might be a good idea.
    Brass and wood looks great together and you've constructed it beautifully, great snap to all those tools and blades.

    • @SussexEDC

    Great work, as always. I've always preferred wood scaling, and the Companion limited edition makes it look so much better!
    If it had a sheepsfoot/gardener knife instead of the roadinox, an electrician's blade instead of the serated knife, combi tool instead of the box cutter, pliers instead of scissors, a full length file, phillips screwdriver, tweezers and a Fire ant ferro rod. It'd be the perfect SAK for me

  • @tikkidaddy
    @tikkidaddy ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm thinking the machining and working of the brass hardens it somewhat since its not ferric. To anneal brass you have to heat it up gently and quench it, the opposite of steel

      There are also small files on 84mm for example the cadet. Or the 85mm wenger models. But the files from wenger are a bit thinner. Wich can be a advantage and disadvantage depending on what you want to do

    • @FittoSurvive
      @FittoSurvive  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is definitely even more unique now.
      I didn't see any easy/safe way to remove the scales. Just got to be careful when lifting them.
      The plastic scales can be softened in warm/hot water to keep them safe during disassembly. But you can't do that with wood.

    very cool mod!
    Q1: why didn't you modify the springs for the roadi-blade to make the blade go lower?
    Q2: have you ever tried to retrofit the "plus-slots" on the scales for toothpick/tweezer/ruler? (with maybe an extra-slot for the firefly?)
    Q3: would it be possible to "mount" the old can-opener on the other side of the roadi-blade if you can install a spacer? (the roadi-layer looks like it has a "hole in the knife" tbh)
    Mod-suggestion for that "box cutter": since it's one piece of solid metall at the opening-side: cut a "sharp" opening for firerod-use or cable-dismantler aso (lots o' purposes possible), I seriously think a lot of potential can be implemented into that tool

    • @FittoSurvive
      @FittoSurvive  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!
      1. I didn't want the Roadie to have the chance of tapping against the spring. Plus, if the Roadie was much deeper it might be difficult to access it.
      2. I have not done much retrofitting for the scale accessories, except for the super simple mod of opening the 3rd slot for the short tweezers like on the XAVT.
      3. To place a secondary tool opposite the Roadie, it would have to go under it kind of like the inline philips on the 111mm SAK.
      Yeah, you do have a good point. There is plenty of space for some mods on the box opener.

    Happy Monday Maestro FtS, thank you for another brilliant video showing your skilled craftsmanship. The end result is excellent albeit for my taste the addition of a clip point / modified clip point blade would have been my choice. I don't intend to buy the Companion as I dislike Victorinox's walnut wooden handles, I find them somehow rough & splintery to touch and have read that they absorb sweat & oils and become dirty looking overtime. The few knives I have with wooden handles are the Buck 110 & 112 with Celicram treated Ebony handles. I am hoping that Victorinox will make a Celidor scaled version of the Companion and make it a regular model in its line up & not a one time & expensive model like the Climber Lite. that is disgracing Victorinox with the worst customer service and rudest ownership in the knife business with Spyderco. Spyderco make okay knives but ownership are such A-holes that i will never buy their knives again and sold off the ones i had. They could have a rude off contest between Spyderco and Medford and see which one cares the least because their stuff sells regardless of what they do

      Interesting. Sounds like you're not a big fan of them. 😅 To each his own. 👍🏻👍🏻
