I sometimes find it comforting that animals who have passed on never had to experience losing us. As sad as I am that Lord Sherpa has left us, I am grateful that he never had to miss his Jamie…he had his best friend by his side every moment of his life, much as it should be. Imagine living your entire life never having to part with the person or people you love most…a very lucky dog, indeed.
God, as miserable as it is missing them, I was always terrified that I would somehow pass before my girl, and she would think I abandoned her, or wouldn't understand that I was gone.
Yesterday, my Beagle Gracie passed on. She was 13 years, 5 months. During her life she was a handful, never quiet unless sleeping, always on the move. Her brother Tripper is showing sadness, and my tears come easily. I keep seeing her in the house. I feel your pain.
I lost Star a year ago. It's still lonely so I went to a rescue and adopted a dog name Bentley. I believe Star sent him to me. SO we continue our walks in honor of Star.
We did the same and she is now 15. We got her to keep our German Shepard company but lost her on December 11th and I don't believe my heart can stand anymore. When our Maggie is gone that is it for us.
When you meet those little doggies they saw Sherpa behind you. Thats why they ran away. He’s always protecting you. Another beautiful wander. Thanks for taking us along. 💙💙

There's an awful silence when you lose your best friend. Even though they mean well, it's hard to hear that they are still with us when that awful silence says otherwise. We just have to fill that quiet with something that affirms our love and memories. Your journey helped mine.
It is a change when a pet has passed. so much of yourself was geared up towards their needs. When they have passed on you find out just how much they were a huge part of your life.

Unfortunately I'm disabled and can't walk far and definitely wouldn't be able to do a walk like this but this is my favourite type of walk. I too am disabled. Due to bad instructions for insulin dosage back in 2018. Damaged the nerves in my feet and ankles. Can’t walk without support. I too enjoy being able to share in on your marvelous adventures with Sherpa all these years 👍🏻👌🏻🫶🏻😎🤩❤️. I no live in the Rocky Mountains in Utah USA and there are some amazing places you’d love to explore! Maybe someday you will get to come “stateside” and have the trip of your dreams! 👍🏻👌🏻🫶🏻😎😉
i wonder about that spirit thing... hope something to it... there are a few spots in particular where big events happened with Chops (lost a year ago) and i feel he is there as i giggle over it and retell the story as if he is there for us to regale in the memory
I have lost three northern breeds and I greatly miss them all, I can feel your pain because they are family to us, every once in awhile I get a glimpse of them hanging around so that gives me some comfort knowing that they are still around. They will never ever leave our side. You will know when you are ready to move forward and get another puppy. Just takes time to heal. Love you Jamie and keep a positive attitude.

Jamie, I am always amazed at the quantity of stone that has been extracted and cut for use in all sorts of buildings, from castles to little steps, homes and businesses, walls, streets, walkways, benches! It just amazes me to see the sheer number of miles of walls of stone there! (If these walls could talk!!) And yes, here in American we do have "one lane, dirt roads" as we call them, but only in the most rural of areas. Thank you for taking us with you on your "unescorted" walk, but we all sense that Sherpa was there watching you!

You're not alone. Sherpa will be with you all the time. I has 2 doggies for 18 years. Never gave them a vaccine. Cooked for them. They past away from old age. 6 years ago. I still feel them around me all the time
We have back roads here in the US, but they are mostly wide enough for two vehicles. Near where I live in Upstate NY, we have a lot of low train bridges over back roads. Some of them are only wide enough for one car to go under at a time. What a beautiful wander, Jamie! Those two little dogs were sent by Sherpa to welcome you back to your old haunt. ☺️🤭 I’m so glad you can still enjoy all the places you shared with Sherpa. 🐾❤️🐾
I drove in Scotland 2 years ago, the UK roads are generally much narrower than in the USA. As much as I prefer the wider US roads, driving or walking on the same paths a medieval king, Viking, or Roman soldier used is so much cooler. What Americans call historical is different than what a UK local considers old.
@joer8399 it is cool. But even here on the east coast, in a colonial city where the roads are narrow and not built for SUVs (which I don't have), I definitely feel the difference when I go out west. Driving out west was a dream because the street signs are big, and you can see them from a mile away. No unmarked streets like in Massachusetts and Rhode island, no tiny street signs that are hard to see at night. Big avenues, big street signs, wide lanes. An absolute joy to drive in, for example, Arizona
We had a few only a little wider near me in NJ. They eroded and contractor vans/trucks were running ppl off the road, so most got a big upscale about a decade back. A few of those roads still have their one car bridges though.
I can just imagine Sherpa whispering in your ear, 'Dad, remember that place we went to? Let's go again!' I'm glad you're re-visiting places. That was a lovely walk. I don't get to explore new places much due to illness, so it's lovely to do that on here, like walking with a friend 😊

I’ve lost three and there are places I can’t go back to because it makes me cry, that said there’s places I revisit just to feel closer to them, I can still see them in my minds eye walking a certain path, frolicking in a certain field 😊 RIP my dearest friends Sasha, Kenny and Autumn all rescue greyhounds all so very missed x I am blessed to have the three I have now ~ Billy, Geoff and Ruby ~ I dread each passing as I know how much it hurts x miss you Sherps

When you described how Sherpa would have run down the stream with his mouth open, I laughed out loud. I'm glad you're at this point of greater peace and acceptance. You will have happy memories of him your whole life, and there will be days where you miss him terribly. Maybe now, before you think about getting another dog, you can take some time to travel to far-off places without having to worry about Sherpa being looked after. Take good care of yourself and don't feel guilty for discovering new things you can enjoy alone.

What a beautiful place to walk, or go for a wander. I love that phrase, sounds so much more interesting than going for a walk as we say in America. That was a mystical place with the streams, the interesting trees and the ruins of the houses and waterwheel. You have a lot of beautiful places to share. Thank you for doing so. Oh, you're right about our roads over here. We don't have those narrow, wooded country lanes here, which are very pretty. The closest we have to those are forest roads, mountain roads and in some states old, off the beaten path country roads. Again, thank you for sharing your wander. Yup. I've been down this road. Learning to walk without pausing for a sniff every 10 yards. Learning to eat without those pleading eyes staring at you. Opening the door more than a crack because no one's going to bolt out.

When I lost my 1st boy Samson I cudent go for a walk I found it to hard And even now writing about this brings back memories of him. having a lot of pain still and that is going back about 20 years ago now wen I lost him. I still have dogs now have my two border collies storm &cindy but I still think of him but now I think of the happy times 😊

Sadly Sherpa has gone, he had a terrific life & was so loved by Jamie. But I'm sure Sherpa would want another dog to experience the love & devotion he received. There is one just waiting to be found I'm sure.
It's the physical presence of your beloved dog that has departed. The eyes, fur, smell, warmth, funny mannerisms, eating his dinner, running free, sleeping- this is huge loss. huge loss. so just feel it it with the love you feel for Sherpa and it will transform . I remember the emptiness of the trail we walked, me alone seemed so futile yet I need to keep walking, keep moving for myself
Most USA roads are massive 🛣️, like highways and freeways. There are small roads like that in rural areas, such as Virginia and West Virginia, also in Hawaii.

For me it’s been 19 years since my dog Sasha passed away (she is my profile picture). The hardest part of losing a pet you love is having to say goodbye. Your entire world changes without them and the emptiness that’s left in your heart when they go. I thank you for letting us accompany you on your walks and adventures. It makes me want to visit the UK but specifically Cornwall.

You're not alone. Sherpa will be with you all the time. I has 2 doggies for 18 years. Never gave them a vaccine. Cooked for them. They past away from old age. 6 years ago. I still feel them around me all the time

We have back roads here in the US, but they are mostly wide enough for two vehicles. Near where I live in Upstate NY, we have a lot of low train bridges over back roads. Some of them are only wide enough for one car to go under at a time. What a beautiful wander, Jamie! Those two little dogs were sent by Sherpa to welcome you back to your old haunt. ☺️🤭 I’m so glad you can still enjoy all the places you shared with Sherpa. 🐾❤️🐾
Vermont has a few of those, too. But no country lanes.
Here in the US there are small one lane roads on farms and private property usually for trail bikes and off road atvs that are like that
I drove in Scotland 2 years ago, the UK roads are generally much narrower than in the USA. As much as I prefer the wider US roads, driving or walking on the same paths a medieval king, Viking, or Roman soldier used is so much cooler. What Americans call historical is different than what a UK local considers old.
@joer8399 it is cool. But even here on the east coast, in a colonial city where the roads are narrow and not built for SUVs (which I don't have), I definitely feel the difference when I go out west. Driving out west was a dream because the street signs are big, and you can see them from a mile away. No unmarked streets like in Massachusetts and Rhode island, no tiny street signs that are hard to see at night. Big avenues, big street signs, wide lanes. An absolute joy to drive in, for example, Arizona
We had a few only a little wider near me in NJ. They eroded and contractor vans/trucks were running ppl off the road, so most got a big upscale about a decade back. A few of those roads still have their one car bridges though.
Imagine walking through this beautiful woods in the autumn the colours will be beautiful
I can just imagine Sherpa whispering in your ear, 'Dad, remember that place we went to? Let's go again!' I'm glad you're re-visiting places. That was a lovely walk. I don't get to explore new places much due to illness, so it's lovely to do that on here, like walking with a friend 😊
They walk beside us as they always did, the cords of love that bind us are unbreakable by time and place ❤️

I’ve lost three and there are places I can’t go back to because it makes me cry, that said there’s places I revisit just to feel closer to them, I can still see them in my minds eye walking a certain path, frolicking in a certain field 😊 RIP my dearest friends Sasha, Kenny and Autumn all rescue greyhounds all so very missed x I am blessed to have the three I have now ~ Billy, Geoff and Ruby ~ I dread each passing as I know how much it hurts x miss you Sherps

When you described how Sherpa would have run down the stream with his mouth open, I laughed out loud. I'm glad you're at this point of greater peace and acceptance. You will have happy memories of him your whole life, and there will be days where you miss him terribly. Maybe now, before you think about getting another dog, you can take some time to travel to far-off places without having to worry about Sherpa being looked after. Take good care of yourself and don't feel guilty for discovering new things you can enjoy alone.
Jamie, it's been such a pleasure being able to see places and experience them through your memories and your eyes. Plus, I get to see somewhere else other then the California Desert. You were definitely correct about how different the roads and cars in the UK vs the USA. I absolutely want to Thank You for sharing your journeys with all of us, it's kinda like your our Tour Guide and it's much appreciated ❤

What a beautiful place to walk, or go for a wander. I love that phrase, sounds so much more interesting than going for a walk as we say in America. That was a mystical place with the streams, the interesting trees and the ruins of the houses and waterwheel. You have a lot of beautiful places to share. Thank you for doing so. Oh, you're right about our roads over here. We don't have those narrow, wooded country lanes here, which are very pretty. The closest we have to those are forest roads, mountain roads and in some states old, off the beaten path country roads. Again, thank you for sharing your wander. Sherpa is always watching over you, he's your angel dog.

Yup. I've been down this road. Learning to walk without pausing for a sniff every 10 yards. Learning to eat without those pleading eyes staring at you. Opening the door more than a crack because no one's going to bolt out.
I think that Sherpa would be happy that you remember all the good wonders that you both experienced. He is with you always. I miss Sherpa and hope you are taking care of yourself. Sherpa was very lucky to have been to so many places with you Jamie. He’s been more places than I have. Thanks to your videos, I’m able to at least see what amazing spots you used to travel with Sherpa. We love you Sherpa❤ and Jamie.

Really surprised how much a miss Sherpa, a dog that I never met and would never meet (flying phobia). So glad Jamie is still posting. Such a beautiful countryside - still unspoiled by humans!
When I lost my 1st boy Samson I cudent go for a walk I found it to hard And even now writing about this brings back memories of him. having a lot of pain still and that is going back about 20 years ago now wen I lost him. I still have dogs now have my two border collies storm &cindy but I still think of him but now I think of the happy times 😊

Sadly Sherpa has gone, he had a terrific life & was so loved by Jamie. But I'm sure Sherpa would want another dog to experience the love & devotion he received. There is one just waiting to be found I'm sure.

It's the physical presence of your beloved dog that has departed. The eyes, fur, smell, warmth, funny mannerisms, eating his dinner, running free, sleeping- this is huge loss. huge loss. so just feel it it with the love you feel for Sherpa and it will transform . I remember the emptiness of the trail we walked, me alone seemed so futile yet I need to keep walking, keep moving for myself
Most USA roads are massive 🛣️, like highways and freeways. There are small roads like that in rural areas, such as Virginia and West Virginia, also in Hawaii.

For me it’s been 19 years since my dog Sasha passed away (she is my profile picture). The hardest part of losing a pet you love is having to say goodbye. Your entire world changes without them and the emptiness that’s left in your heart when they go. I thank you for letting us accompany you on your walks and adventures. It makes me want to visit the UK but specifically Cornwall.
