    Suspension is a science ,to many people think its easy but with rebound, compression and load rate squat and ride height and all the rest, its an art , good to see .

    I have had the MRR shocks in my Patrol for 4 months now, they are great but I think I need to drop in and get them properly adjusted. It does take a bit to understand the three different adjustments on them. Excellent little episode fellas!

    The trouble with 4wds is you get everything all sorted and feeling good and within 6 months panhard bushes have flogged out along with a bunch of other bushes. Its a constant chasing your tail situation! But great video, good to see a bit of insight.

    Until you’ve had adjustable shocks you don’t really realise the difference they make.
    All the suspension shops I’m talking too are telling me, oh you’ll never adjust them, you don’t need them etc
    I had Rancho RS9000 5 way adjustable shocks in a Jeep CJ6 we used to wheel pretty hard - once you’ve had that flexibility to adjust to suit the conditions and load it’s hard to go back.
    I’m looking at putting a full dobinsons suspension kit in my hundred series and trying to sort out an ifs front end without having that adjustment available is a real concern. Basically your stuck with whatever valving is installed in the shock.
    Great vid 👍

    Go the GU Patrol! that's interesting. the adj remote res shock must dampening alot better . . I found getting a RTC steering dampener and after a wheel alignment made my handling alot better !

    I've got a set in my 76 series and I've pretty much got it sorted, but it took a lot of time adjusting.
    I wish Dobinsons would do a vid on how to adjust these shocks. The instructions that come with then aren't any good at all.
    I might take the truck down to them and do the same as you.
    Thanks for sharing

      They were very helpful with the finer tuning. Good luck.

    I'll have to see Danny myself. Love the MRRAs. I've added weight since my suspension setup 29 months ago, and need shocks adjusted and 400kg constant load springs.
    Great vid m8

    i have dobinsons springs in my gu but the front springs feel boaty but have the 60kg-120kg springs, but when you add up factory steal bullbar, winch, lights and second battery in the front, its more than 120kg, but they dont seem to have any firmer springs to meet that requirement. But looking at kings springs as they have 100kg-250kg for the front.

    • @SIDETRACKED
      @SIDETRACKED  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Trevor, does it sit at a good height currently? If so, then shocks may be able to tune that boatyness out, have you tried a shock with adjustments? Dobinsons have an option (C45 316) which is a taller spring/same wire thickness but will get the height back. (That is assuming a 3" lift currently).

      @@SIDETRACKED mine is 2inch lift. Does side to passenger side more. Spring is on correct side. Just running normal yellow dobinson shocks. Thinking I might have to look at something else. I emailed fulcrum suspension and they said to go kings springs with 100-250kg load for front. Which should fix the lean.

    Ive had these shocks on my GU for a couple months now, BUT me being me, I screwed it all up and now cant even get them to where they were at the beginning. Care to share your settings for a base? Love your work guys and always look forward to your vids.👍

      @SIDETRACKED  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sure they would have them online, no harm done. Basically click them all the way anticlockwise and start fresh. My settings will be slightly different due to more pressure added to them

    Would adjustables be of more value in the rear due to the varying loads and inevitably most of the weight in most 4wds is in the rear, when heading away, then when unloaded adjusting it back to daily driver settings.

    • @SIDETRACKED
      @SIDETRACKED  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah probably but you need to remember that most of your steering and braking is done up front, so keeping the front planted plays a vital role too.

      Also handy to add some rebound in the front when towing. When you put 200kg of ball weight on the rear it tends to unload the front a bit. So adding some rebound in the front will help hold it down and compression in the rear once the van it on will help settle it out

    What parts did you need and how did you get it engineered for 4 inch lift? Does the engineering certificate also include 35" or 315/75R16 tyres?

    • @SIDETRACKED
      @SIDETRACKED  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've got mainly superior arms underneath the patrol, yes it's fully engineered for 35's and the 4 inch lift
