Agreed. The choice to make them sparkle like diamonds is so unnecessarily hated upon. It's ridiculous. I love OG vampire lore/literature, though I can also appreciate the new twists that Stephanie added. She'd get equally derided if she _didn't_ make any changes 🦇
Funnily, when I hate-read Twilight in Uni while writting thesis on Palestinian nationalism I had my own dream about vampire. So of course my vampire was Palestinian nationalist. She slept in the desert sand most of the time. She could go out in sunlight but go sunburn (which kinda sucks when you live in the middle east) and lost her powers during the day and long term exposure made her look and feel ill. There was lesbian romance in that dream too lol Gosh, I really should write it up one day, at least as a short story.
And she's also a really good writer. I've read her other books like The Host. She's very creative and able to express this creativity in a non-boring way that makes enough sense to be entertaining. In Twilight, she may not have picked the best characters to focus on, but she definitely still had some skill in writing,
I want a PREQUEL. Pre-Bella. I want to see Carlisle choosing Edward and figuring out how to teach a newborn especially one with a gift. Then the others too. Their adventures as a family.
What kills me is that the movie made the vampires look stupid by just making them sparkly and completely ditching the context. Like they don't sparkle! Their skin is like marble and reflect the sun thus making it look like they are on fire when you look quickly. This is how Stephanie explained where the legend of vampires burning in the sun comes from.
I hope the next one will b on hybrids. Hybrids don't sparkle, they slightly glow, allowing them to blend in with humans in the sun. They're also a bit slower and weaker then full-fledged vampires.
Twilight had so much world building and honestly the Twilight vampires are my favorite depiction of vampires in any piece of fiction. It's such a shame that the romance was such a huge part of the story. The side characters were so much more interesting than the main ones.
I came for the love story and stayed for the lore xD I'm so sad most of the 'other vampires' that we get to know only came in in the 2nd half of the last book...
I always read the vampires from Twilight as fey who needed to drink blood. The only reason that they're called 'vampires' is because vampires are a more common in popular culture.
I get your point but if you read some of the vampire myths from all over the world, they’re just as, if not more outlandish to the Dracula-style vampires we see in modern culture as the twilight ones are. The only thing that connects them all is an affinity for sucking the life force out of people. Twilight vamps go one step further, in that they feed and survive on blood.
In the books Bella wishes she was hit with a semi truck over and over as shes turning but stays completely silent to not pain Edward. She pretends that the morphine she was given worked even after she's turned, and only decides to secretely tell Carlisle at some point that she felt everything, that the morphine didn't do shit, incase he has to turn someone else.
I think the sparkling skin is part of their attractive quality. It’s all written as a love story, what is supposedly a woman’s favorite thing? Diamonds. Plus the way they shatter it makes sense
It’s just a flaw or weakness. Same with the red eyes. If their skin in sunlight reveals they are not a human, it makes it harder for them to kill during hours of typical human activity. Their traits are meant to help them kill inconspicuously as to not get discovered and destroyed. Their red eyes indicate they are predatory and the golden eyes are also obviously not human like. When they are hungry their eyes turn black as a way to blend in more, looking human enough to gain trust and secure prey. If you think about it in olden times, people would be very suspicious of someone in broad daylight with red eyes and sparkling skin. It would be like witch hunt situations. It’s obviously meant to deter them from interacting with humans during daylight hours and give them a full advantage at night when humans are more vulnerable.
Something I remember from the book is that Bella theorized that the morphine she was injected with before being bitten had caused her to be paralyzed during the first 24 hours of her transition, which resulted in her not screaming in pain from the burning sensation which wasn’t dulled by the morphine. She was just unable to respond in anyway until it wore off and by that time she stayed quiet so Edward wouldn’t freak out since he couldn’t read her mind at all. Just fyi
In the ‘short second life of Bree tanner’ Bree is a vampire that explains that it looks like the vampires are on fire in the sun, which she thinks might be where the myth of “vampire burn the sun” came from.
I'd recommend you read the Twilight Illustrated Guide. It goes so much deeper to the lore and makes these vampires seem even more sinister. Besides they don't glitter in the book that was just cheap 2008 cgi. It's supposed to look like they're on fire(like white flames)thus drawing in prey
The lore of the vampires and their world in Twilight is honestly some of the most interesting I’ve seen or read. It’s not the most lore heavy series but it does enough to fascinate me. Also the sparkly skin thing never bothered me and some of my favorite depictions of these night stalking creatures are from Buffy, The Vampire chronicles, and Legacy of Kain. The sun shining upon their stone skin might as well be as dangerous as burning into ash because it’s made very clear that the Volturi do not tolerate exposure of their kind so it’s basically a death sentence in the presence of humans. And given the explanation of their anatomy being essentially crystal/stone like it makes sense for me.
A better interpretation of the whole sparkle thing is that maybe they should reflect frequencies of light that are invisible to humans and they can see those frequencies and recognise other vampires via their sparkle that would of been more interesting than they sparkle in daylight and if they wanted to eat food couldn’t they just drink acid and regurgitate the acid more easily than regurgitating solid foods
You know what I would like? A novel which reveals the origins of the Twilight Saga vampires. Perhaps a story with Jacob and Renesmee as the main characters, going on an epic journey to search for the first vampire.

Vampires in Twilight are designed to be apex predators and such, don’t carry the traditional weaknesses of vampires seen in other works of fiction! Everything about them physically, such as facial features, their voice and even their smell is magnified to perfection! This allows humans to be drawn their unnatural beauty and in turn vampires could hunt in discretion!

Sometimes it's annoying knowing just enough about subjects not to be able to fully suspend disbelief, and having the hyper-fixations and obsessive interests of ADHD rabit holes. On one hand, the venom could be considered a liquid crystal. Moves like a fluid, but has crystalline molecular structures. They can be organic, sticky and scatter light (sparkle). They are also polarized which can help reduce glare and focus vision. So, they flow like body fluid, check. They can act as an adhesive, check. They focus vision, check. The infertility of females doesn't make much sense either. Ovaries already have all the eggs that will ever be released. The hormone cycles are just required to release them each month. However, men are not even born with mature sperm. They require hormones that aren't developed until puberty to even create mature sperm, and only do so in 16 day cycles that are triggered by hormones. I think Renesmee is going to end up being stronger than Bella and Edward due to the human blood in her body. She might even out muscle Felix in terms of raw power.
Absolutely not, she's only half vampire, it doesn't really matter if she's got blood in her tissues, she will always be weaker and slower than any vampire, there is no comparison, a full vampire is a full vampire, you don't get to be stronger than a full vampire without being one
This is why the big wolves were so stupid the way the vampires are described 1 could take out an entire tribe of threwolves easily but in the movies the vamps are so pathetic and weak the just shatter it someone pushes them.
And one thing that isn't shown in the movies is how you need to burn them in order to permanently kill them, in the books they're always moving, even if they are completely in pieces, every part of their body will still movd trying to reassemble, and it will reassemble, unless they're burned without giving them time to do so
I always disliked the Twilight vampires. Too clean and pretty. I've never seen vampirism as a virus but purely supernatural, similar to demonic possession. Coppola's Dracula (92') is a good example. Purely supernatural. Lucy coming down the stairs with the little one was a good example of what I mean. Just pure predatory evil. She looks possessed. Awesome.
So, did the Romanian coven just not drink blood or something? How did they begin to "petrify" 🧛🏻♂️ P.S. Can vampires get tattoos that will last after they turn?
I think the longer vampires sit without moving, the more fragile their skin becomes. I don’t know if that contributes to their physical power, probably not. I don’t think tattoos would work, i don’t think the needle could break through the skin, and effects of the venom would probably cover it sooner than later
isn't all this information from twilight wiki fandom it look's like you were reading it in this video out loud i have that page bookmarked its exactly word for word same it seams it is your source for this video

Wait, if the venom acts like saliva, wouldn't that mean that the venom entered bella's mouth while her and edward kissed wouldn't that mean she had the venom in her system therefore turning her???😂
Pretty sure they explain this in the books. But I think Edward hold in the venom that is produced by his saliva glands or whatever. Kinda like when he was able to suck the venom out of Bella when James bit her. They have some control over it. But what doesn’t make sense is when they do the nasty his sperm is mostly venom. That should’ve turned her
My guess is since they’re technically dead then their hair just stays like that forever, but if you’re a vampire I doubt you can’t afford extensions or wigs
I imagine she'd be... Pregnant forever. Women need to change and grow to be able to have a baby, vampires cannot have a pregnancy or birth due to them being frozen in time. Therefore the baby would die and if she couldn't birth the baby before she turned she'd be frozen in time as a pregnant woman with a dead fetus inside her
Whats with the thumbnail??? You said nothing of 3000 BC. You said nothing of the oldest vampire and how old. So why put a thumbnail like youre going to describe their history? When the first thing you say is the origin is unknown. SMH, at least talk about their lineage as you fronted with the thumnail...
I mean it kinda makes sense tho. Becoming a vamp changes all of the liquid in their body into venom, including semen. It does the same for female vampires. But vampires cannot physically change, they’re frozen forever. So a female vampires body cannot grow and change to accommodate a growing baby. And even though male vampires can procreate, it’s rare bc most vampires can’t even kiss a human without draining them dry
They say all human life is precious but what about animal life? Don't get me wrong I am not one of those hippy dippy vegetarian's. My diet is 100 percent meat but I still see the value in animal life beyond just food.
Their hair doesn’t grow. In fact if someone, like another vampire; were to rip their hair out and leave a bald spot in their hair, they would have that bald spot for the rest of eternity.
They did, for thousands of years. First it was a Egyptian vampire coven that ruled out in the open and were worshipped as gods, then it was the Romanian coven (which usurped the Egyptian coven), they ruled over humanity and was worshipped by them, they’re where the myths of gods came from. But aro was turned into a vampire and decided he wanted to rule over vampire kind, and he did so by painting it as him trying to keep vampire kind safe. So he made laws and gathered gifted vampires and over threw the Romanians and forced vampires to live in the shadows. But yeah you’re right twilight vamps are super OP which is why I hate that people hate on them or say someone like blade could beat them.

@@DayneandtheStars lol
I heard a little laugh with the 'they have a reflection ' part
Jasper's hair grew throughout the movies
And Alice too
Maybe they're wigs
This is an amazing video 👏
How dare they call James aka Cameron Below Average.. HE IS BEAUTIFUL!! ♥
I’m sorry I’m new here. But your voice sounds so familiar to me, I’m subscribed to someone else who sounds like you. Do you secretly have a separate channel? Is this your second channel? Sorry if I’m late to the party
It's the same guy who does the Harry Potter folklore videos
Harry Potter Folklore
@@danybey1920 @edmundandlucy I thought so y’all but I didn’t want to make any assumptions 🤣 i was like I KNOW this ain’t who I think it is ☠️
These vampires are op! I wonder how strong werewolves in this universe would be.
I didn't know they lose their tattoos! :O
So good!
Awesome keep them coming
This may not be a popular.. but I kinda like the sparkling.. it grew on me overtime. 😅😅
It has long been my head cannon that these vampires were first made by humans drinking the blood of frost giants.
Stephanie made unique vampires, more relatable.
I guess they could survive in space.
5:15 I read that on the Vampire Chronicles wiki page…😶😂
Have you ever thought of looking in to the Argeneau vampires. They are characters in Lindsey Sands books.
Yay new video!! 😁😁
Awesome.
Who cares what u think
Hellsing Vampires are particularly demonic looking.
Idk I personally liked the sparkle thing I just wish they would’ve done it a little differently
They are like superheroes
I thought red eyes meant they were hungry and gold was when they were satisfied.
So, did the Romanian coven just not drink blood or something? How did they begin to "petrify" 🧛🏻♂️
That was beautiful!!!
Has anyone watched “what we do in the shadows”? When the vampires put glitter from the dollar store on their faces, to be like the twilight vampires.🤣
😱😱 no way freckle and tattoos disappear, screw that
isn't all this information from twilight wiki fandom it look's like you were reading it in this video out loud i have that page bookmarked its exactly word for word same it seams it is your source for this video
I wonder if a women is pregnant before the baby is born but turned during pregnancy then what will the baby be. Armoire human or hybrid
Dead and frozen in place
Fangs. Fangs would’ve made people go more feral for these sparkly vampires. Especially Carlisle! 😅😅
Can you do the vampires of ture blood ‼️‼️‼️
Fun backstory
Guys seriously twilight is both werewolf and vampire movies. Plus the comment about vampire hybrids is just wrong because Edward and Bella's daughter Renesmee is a hybrid for crying out loud.😡😡😡
Hi
They still grow hair. In the books Alice specifically said that hair cuts needed to be given daily
Did just say vampires don't turn anyone average?
U did a great job/video on a very underwhelming and uninspired franchise.. Really looking forward to ur blade videos!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Are you stopping publishing on Harry Potter Folklore?
No I just needed a break from the channel.. none of my videos were getting the views I normally get and I felt like I was throwing any video up with little feeling behind it. I needed to reflect on the channel and deliver content I think people deserve.
@@VampireFolkloreVideos Well I appreachiate you buddy and i hope you find the clarity you need. I don't know a lot about Vampires but this video was very interesting.
what a voice you have 🩵
Way too op
So I’m 225. If I turn can I lose just a little weight?
Wait, if the venom acts like saliva, wouldn't that mean that the venom entered bella's mouth while her and edward kissed wouldn't that mean she had the venom in her system therefore turning her???😂
Pretty sure they explain this in the books. But I think Edward hold in the venom that is produced by his saliva glands or whatever. Kinda like when he was able to suck the venom out of Bella when James bit her. They have some control over it. But what doesn’t make sense is when they do the nasty his sperm is mostly venom. That should’ve turned her
What if a vampire messes their haircut up?
My guess is since they’re technically dead then their hair just stays like that forever, but if you’re a vampire I doubt you can’t afford extensions or wigs
they are alex predators…even as vegetarians
Lol iono about that mental disease part those guys didn't seem right in the head to me 😂
im confused as to how bella got pregnant, do male vampires still produce sperm? do female vampires still get their period?so many questions
The venom in Edward’s body acted as a replacement for his sperm.
As bad as it is, i like twightlight
The chromosome thing on vampires is weird
What happens if a pregnant woman is turned before she gives birth?
I imagine she'd be... Pregnant forever. Women need to change and grow to be able to have a baby, vampires cannot have a pregnancy or birth due to them being frozen in time. Therefore the baby would die and if she couldn't birth the baby before she turned she'd be frozen in time as a pregnant woman with a dead fetus inside her
Vampires from twilight and not vampires. They’re embarrassing fairies.
Noone below average 💀
James is not average. He is very attractive. Dude, he’s freaking hot (well at the least the actor in the movie) lol 😝
the actor Cam Gigandet is a good looking guy but in the books, James is not attractive
Vampire males with viable sperm? Give me a break.
@@theredmistiscoming609YOU DRAINED HER DRY.
I just realized...we haven't ever seen a starved vampire in this franchise
They say all human life is precious but what about animal life? Don't get me wrong I am not one of those hippy dippy vegetarian's. My diet is 100 percent meat but I still see the value in animal life beyond just food.
First
Wait the books say that their hair grows exceptionally fast.
Their hair doesn’t grow. In fact if someone, like another vampire; were to rip their hair out and leave a bald spot in their hair, they would have that bald spot for the rest of eternity.
@@theredmistiscoming609not true at all in the books Alice gives them all daily haircuts as their hair grows incredibly fast.
OMG WTF do u sound so bloody Irish 😳
Forget the sparkling, this is ridiculous because they are so overpowered. Does the series address why vampires haven’t subjugated humanity?
@@theredmistiscoming609Blade *could* beat them, if only through the power of comic escalation as Blade - like all comic character - just more and more crazy as time goes on.
Imagine a trans person, and then their body restoring to who they are
They are so powerful
Stake can’t kill them and bulletproof and reattach limbs.
And they are made of granite not flesh and blood.🩸
