I just had these and I can honestly they are really good. It’s kinda chewy (in a good way) like a tender mussel or oyster, and most of the flavor comes from the buttery garlic and parsley. Expensive tho.
I love raw oysters but for some reason snails turn my stomach. Funny how I can eat one disgusting thing but not another just because of my cultural upbringing.
I guess everything is good for as long as it is neatly done, except for humans of course. In fact, we are animals after all and are at the top of the food chain
In Indonesia we also eat similar food..... Conch has a taste texture that is similar to shellfish but there is a little chicken taste. In Indonesia, we used to use rice field golden snails!..... I feel proud if this food is expensive food in France! 😅
Pressure cook them vs waiting a week. Flavor will also be more infused as well this way cutting time in half. This is how we do and same for Welks (sea snails)
These are delicious. We eat these in Vietnam and Laos too. If you know how to make stew with these it is amazing. Dill, garlic, shallots, two or three bay leaves, one or two tablespoons of fish sauce (3 crabs brand) and Vietnamese curry. Add water and let it stew. Enjoy. 🎉 Interestingly we eat the cousin of the land snails, sea snails. Edit: Forgot to mention lemongrass Keep things simple, cook all the herbs until it's golden brown, put the curry powder in once you see it browning and then add the snails, stir it and then add water. Let it stew.
Lets be straight about this; who the fuck saw some snails and thought; "You know what? I'm gonna cook and eat those. But first I'll boil the shit out of it for an hour and a half! Scoop them out, fill the shell with butter, shove the flesh back in and roast it in the oven for another ten minutes." Fuck. That. I'll just have an apple.
What if it was because survival? Maybe a person needed to eat and that was he found, he discovered he like it and then in the future began to mix it with other things

Après c'est surtout des clichés des anglo-saxons qui réduisent la France au fromage, au vin et la baguette (et aux escargots et cuisses de grenouille aussi). Idem pour moi je mange pas d'escargots enfin assez rarement.
Yes because they might have toxins or other poisons inside you want them to be fully purged and cleaned. It takes at least a week. People put snail poison down etc.
A dying old generation food. I don't know anyone who eats those regularily. And it's really understandable, snails don't have any appeal: the garlic butter is there for the sole purpose of giving them taste. It's just dull if you eat them as is. There are lots of french meat meals that are more affordable and tastier. Same goes for frogs. It's just a cliché. Some food stereotypes are true, though. We do eat loads of bread (mainly baguette, but not only, we have hundreds of types of bread) and cheese.
@@gregorleroy4182 wouldn'y say a dying dish. if you visit east or south east asia like malaysia, vietnam, china we eat it with diferent kind of snail and shellfish
