Great run down. I used this addition to the Battletech game, back in 91 in the 1st Infantry Division, to help teach the concepts of airspace coordination and the use of CAS, in simplified terms. It helped give the privates something that kept their interest, and they retained the knowledge because of the novel approach.
Just found this video while looking for a refresher on how to use Aerospace units as I want to field a clan star that has a Kirghiz C (the variant that has a 10 ton infantry bay...) aerospace fighter in order to hot drop a couple of elemental points of the star onto things. Going to have to watch the rest of these videos, thanks for doing them! Editing to add on: "there's a rule for that" ahhhh yes, in battletech if there is something you want to try, there probably IS a rule for that (and I love it)
AeroTech was my first FASA game. It wasn't until we played BattleTech, with ASF support naturally, that I realized just how powerful aerospace was. As a prime example in original AeroTech there wasn't a five hex strafing run; there was a three hex wide strafing corridor that ran the entire mapsheet. It was truly insane and quickly influenced tactics like assuring air superiority and proper unit spacing. It stayed like that for nine years (through Master Rules and Compendium) until BattleSpace brought that down to five hexes. Of course, that's where we got WarShips and where my love for all things aerospace really took hold.
Just got into playing Battletech again after a 25 year hiatus. I am really looking forward to doing some combined arms including some air support. Really looking forward to the future videos!
I'm really looking forward to this series. I've been trying to figure aerospace out, but Total Warfare is really dense reading, especially if you don't have a good general overview of the concepts.
Looking forward to it. One of my favorite non-mainline games is Battlefleet Gothic so I never got into Aerospace in the Battletech universe since way more people played the former.
Oh man, this is exactly what I need. I've tried reading through the aerospace rules so I can include 'em in an ongoing campaign, but they are *dense.* Very much looking forward to your breakdown. Also, will the wereman workshop be returning? Enjoyed that a great deal.
I have never played aerotech, and I've yet to see aerospace units be used in classic battletech. I have yet to see a rule set that has added aerospace to ground combat in a way that I think works well. So, my interest in that aspect is limited.

God, guns, and Battletech. Never have played in space looking forward to it.

Doing the same, myself.

Was it the Achilles drop ship they were talking about?
These guys are absolutely delightful. Thanks for the video!
Yeah!
Aerospace!
You guys make great job in rule videos! Keep up the tempo, and take care!

That's the thing. Aerospace is literally a different game. Similar enough to cause confusion.

Brilliant stuff. Cheers.
