    I see these new Pilots everywhere. Honda found what families want and built exactly that. It is perhaps a little generic compared to the Kiyundai Palluride but it's better built. Most TrailSports will never see anything more than a dirt road but Honda found out that buyers are willing to pay to look tough and outdoorsy.
    Push-button shifter: what's old is new again. Chrysler needs to complete the circle and put a push-button shifter in whenever they get around to designing a new car. Also, bring back bumpers that can take a bump. The tailgate looks like it's almost flush with the bumper. Back into a pole or a wall and the expensive tailgate will be taking the impact instead of the cheap bumper offering a few inches of warning.

      Generic compared to the Grand Theft Auto interpretation of a car that the Kia is? Please. This comment shows complete ineptitude in understanding the technology employed here - particularly with the AWD system.

      The vehicle seen as more expensive, is an indicator that we got poorer. Our income stagnated while everything else inflated the last 2.5 years.

    Eh, the review was worthwhile so far as it went, and I enjoyed his sense of humor, but it kind of - well, to be honest, totally - missed the whole point of the Trailsport trim. The point of this version of the Pilot is to provide the owner with “rough road” capability - not serious “off road” chops typically addressed by vehicles with a full time or part time 4-wheel drive system (4WD), such as the Toyota 4Runner or Toyota Land Cruiser (both of which are essentially 2-row machines. (There now is a 4Runner that offers a 3rd row but it’s a joke.). The actual big news with the Honda Pilot Trailsport trim is that it isn’t the same as the other versions but with just some nice looking leather stitching. It actually is made from the ground up (literally) to handle pretty rough roads. And the headline is that it has surprised virtually all reviewers is its state-of-the-art All Wheel Drive system. It can not only send more power to the rear wheels when needed but if one is lifted off the ground spinning uselessly in the air, it can transfer virtually all power in the rear to the one tire that has traction on solid ground. I’m afraid this review suffers from its venue. He drove an hour and a half to get to a so-calked “national park” that looks like its flat as a pancake with lovely little roads and a cute water feature that your average car could drive through. This sure isn’t the West! If you live in any of our western states and like to go hiking but where trailheads might be a 12 mile or more drive at 7,000’ or higher elevation, and that 12 miles is on a rough gravel and rock road with ruts dips and mud or other challenges but does not absolutely require 4WD, the Honda Pilot Trailsport may get you there, based on the amazing video reviews in TH-cam. To be specific, the Trailsportb has an extra 1” of ground clearance. Ground clearance matters! Those tires he kept calling “chunky” are all-terrain tires that come standard only with this Trailsport trim. The AWD system is configured for rough roads. This is what the buzz is about with the Pilot Trailsport. The reviewer spoke as if nobody - no family - is really ever going to take the Trailsport off pavement onto rough roads in wilderness to get to good hiking trails or lakes to swim or fish in. If that’s you, DO NOT BUY A TRAILSPORT. Get the entry or elite models - and you’ll get a bench seat in the 2nd row that seats 3 if you want it (which you cannot get with the trailsport.

    Nice looking and nice V6, even if it lost the VTEC 😢
    They need to get rid of those stupid buttons and replace with normal transmission shift lever, otherwise not much to complain about.

    I have the 2023 trailsport in Sonic gray pearl, and there's a lot of paint defects on mine where the paint is peeling off on the doors. The dealerband honda corporate are aware of this just a matter of time when they will ok my claim for a full prep and re-spray of the car, but overall, I really love the car and the way it drives and handles

    Watching this, thinking about trading in my Odyssey (which I LOVE) for a Pilot TrailSport. If only they made minivans with a bit more ground clearance and 4/all wheel drive. 🤣 The Pilot seems to be the only halfway decent family car that you can take on a rough road.

    • @gordonbardet7838
      @gordonbardet7838 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All that rain has little relevance to the true competitive advantages of the Trailsport trim. He could have been fine in a Honda Accord with AWD. However, driving with two tornadoes in your immediate area I agree is nuts. He sounded as if he thought he was OK because he was in a particular vehicle. If you;ve ever been near a tornado or in a hurricane, you wouldn’t feel safe in an 18 wheel truck that weighs tons and tons.

    Some pilots have the 3rd seat in the center of the 2nd row. Can you buy one to install? I like the car but want the 3rd seat so my large dog stays in the back with the 3rd row down.

    • @sbab83
      @sbab83 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No 3rd seat option with the TrailSport (there isn't a way to install one either). They do have a "cargo cage" accessory you can buy that basically cages in the 3rd row back with the seats down, which would be perfect for keeping a dog back there

    I drove a 2023 MDX which is pretty similar to this car, built in the same plant too, and I hated it. You know what that taught me? It taught me that I just hate SUVs. Even the best possible SUV, an Acura MDX, left me feeling sick. If I can't enjoy what is one of the best SUVs you can get, I just can't enjoy an SUV, and that's ok.

    I wonder if Honda will redesign The Passport?

    • @CasualInTheTrees
      @CasualInTheTrees 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They need to redesign it with inspiration from the original... not the turd on wheels they came out with currently.

  • @CasualInTheTrees
    @CasualInTheTrees 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Zack since you have auto journalistic privilege can you get some other auto journos together and try to further a ventilated seat movement? Heated seats are fairly common even on non-top tier trims but ventilated seats are reserved for grandparent-luxury trims with no consideration to off-roading. (i.e. 4Runner Limited, Outback Touring, etc)
    I've attempted to tell customer outreach divisions of manufacturers that hot climate states exist too and we only need heated seats and steering wheels maybe two weeks of the year but are in dire need of cooled seats and steering wheels like at minimum 4 months of the year. I feel like a lot of money is being left on the table with them not implementing this. Anyway, you probably won't see this but you do awesome work man! Appreciate you bro

  • @davidp2888

    Hondas are very reliable. The one thing I don't like about them is they really limit the options unless you get the top tier. Toyota gives you more for the money in my opinion. I've owned both Honda and Toyota and Toyota is a better value.

    • @bwofficial1776

      The engines and bodies last forever. Unfortunately, they seem to use weak steel in the springs and exhaust. Usually after a few years you'll see Civics and Accords with the odd CR-V or Odyssey with its suspension completely worn out and the exhaust sounding like a low-flying plane.
