This is 2nd of your videos for me. We are All our own worst critics. You are all around beautiful. God bless you & thanks so much for your videos. I hope to catch them all in the future cuz I’m hooked❗️😉
You are so funny!! I have to give you a Hi5 for your courage in doing this all by yourself. It looks awesome I think, but you need to give your hair a good conditioning mask to shine your hair up. Make sure that whatever you use is hopefully organic with lots of chemical free ingredients. My hair is your length right now and all grey/white naturally.i have an appointment for this Tuesday for a hair cut, but after watching you and your hair length I think I'm going to cancel. I love putting my hair in a tail and wearing my cap when I don't want to fuss with it. Your pigtails are the cutest and you look like a kid that way. I have 2 days to consider my appointment... I'm just not sure. I just put a gloss on yesterday and my hair looks Awesome... L'Oreal Le color gloss in white for the first time ever.. check it out for yourself if your interested. Thanks, that took a lot of courage.📏👍
Retired stylist of over 40 yrs here. Do the butterfly cut again but cut the high ponytail a little shorter, don’t pull it forward. Once you cut both, take it down and then pull all of it up to the crown (space in between the two ponytails) except for your perimeter and cut the difference. There will be a longer piece, so cut that off. That will blend the different between the two banded up prior. *Perimeter is the hair around your hairline all the way around. Leave about half an inch of hair out all the way around the bottom of your hairline. Similar to when we put our hair up but leave out a few pieces on the bottom, but all the way around. Especially leaving out around the height of the hairline over the ear where it dips up and the front hairline where it dips in. That way you won’t cut into the bottom length but it will still be shaggy. Oh and plz don’t use thinning shears on curly hair, not even on the ends.
You are so blessed to have thick hair. And the natural curls, the ability to just dry it and have it look gorgeous is just such a blessing. It is beautiful and you've done a great job. I wouldn't touch it any more. I'm 77 and have been cutting my hair since I was a young girl. I'm not a professional hairdresser----just wanted my hair cut and had no money to go to a shop, so I did it myself. Mine it getting thinner as I age and it's very trying at times! You've done a great job. Blessings to you!
I swear you look gorgeous. I don’t think is messy AT ALL. I love shaggy shorts and it’s you that can see the flaws. I don’t see ANY! Falls pretty and the very soft curls are just lovely. I’m not a hairdresser and totally admire you’re plan A and B.. the wig. Just like Dolly Parton said. I thought it was brilliant. Besides nowadays people do strange stuff to their hair. My opinion like the butterfly cut video, it’s just awesome! Good job. Wish I have the guts to do it!
Put the top back up but leave the main ftont of bang out but this time cut it dry on top then hold the side pony tails up to match the top it wiĺl give more side layers
Love the DIY haircut vids. Try switching to Landscape Mode while recording so the viewers are able to see more of what you're doing. Oh, if you wanted to keep more of your length and get more layers higher up, then place your side ponytails higher up on your head.
I'm new here 😁👋 I started cutting my own hair about 10 yrs ago. My hair grows an inch/month and it used to be light blonde but the older I get the darker it's getting so now I get highlights once a year lol but I do a few "ponytail" methods and I was going to say about the same thing the person above said, place your ponytails a little higher on the sides and the one in the middle front move it back a little bit and cut same amount of each ponytail. I bought myself a razor comb thingy at Sally's just before the 2020 quarantine and I just use it now instead of scissors and it's much faster! I chop all my hair off each spring (change of life in 2020 hit me pretty hard lol) so now I cut it very short like Meg Ryan's hair was in a few of her movies. It's a short choppy layered cut and I just use a tiny amount of gel in it and let it air dry. In the fall I sometimes get a perm (spiral) like I did this past fall and I love it curly but I'm about ready to cut it myself again lol it's to my mid back and I'm sure I'll be sweating up a storm this summer so I gotta cut it! Was looking for more tutorials besides Brad Mondo lol I've done those and they worked but I'm OCD too hahaha so I keep chopping and hacking at it point cutting and razor combing it lol (razor comb is brand name "Scunci" at Sally's 👌👍😆🙏 I love that thing! It's like thinning shears! It's a regular comb on one side the other side has a razor and left side is wide tooth comb right side is fine tooth on the razor side so you can chop big chunks or thinned out slices.) It's addictive though!!!! 😂😱😳 It's just hair though it will grow back lol I like yours but I'm OCD too so I know you want it like you want it lol I'm not brave enough to do videos of myself either lol I cuss ALOT too when I chop too much cuz then I gotta do the same to the other side to make it even lol I know the struggle!
You are fun to watch! Thank you. Add a third pony in back above occipital bone keep one on each side above ears and one on top of crown then cut and definitely use thinning shears instead of point cutting. To get more layers. Yw
You are a DELIGHT to watch and your sense of humur cracks me up, lol! I watched your Wolf Cut video too. You're a beauty with gorgeous hair! I hope you keep posting. Good luck on your self cuts 🤗💛.
Just scrolling and came across your videos. This is the 2nd one I have watched and I have to say you are so funny lady. I love your personality, your brave "go for it " attitude. Consider me a follower. Wonderful positive vibes. 💖
I am 70yo & never knew how to wear my hair, so always opted for a ponytail - until I learned how to do butterfly cut. I like a shorter layer, so cut about an inch from my scalp. Beautiful every time!
Instead of point cutting the ends you can just use the thinning shears repeatedly at the very end of the pony to soften and refine the edges. You probably want the "wolf cut"
1st you hv great hair! I think I like the butterfly better. So you could go back and do a mini version of the butterfly. Truthfully you look great in all of them. I luv your style, sense of humility & not taking yourself too seriously. Let's have Lunch !
It's a nice long layered look. If your wanting a shaggy look from the past. The front pony tail you can go in another inch, 2 inches deeper on the others. You have alot of hair so you are wanting the ends whispy & it all tecturized really good so you can use thinning shears 3 inches in on sides deep point cut & point cut the ends again. I'd actually make 2 more pony tails in the back situated where you had the other 2 evenly situated if your going for the original shaggy look. I used to do these cuts :).😊
Could U explain again where you would. Put the other extra back ponytails I have trouble doing my own shag s my hair is really thick curls shoulder length that I need extra ponytails
I just "found" your channel and I love your personality. I cut my hair all the time and go through the same questions and process! You are a joy to watch. I look forward to your gym videos.
Hi! This is the second video I’ve watched from you I’m impressed with your braveness. You remind me of myself in someways, at least as far as cutting your own hair, if you need to cut, and everybody else doesn’t come through for you get it done to yourself I’ve done it many many times. And you’re good to have gorgeous hair. I wish I had that much hair. Don’t be so hard on yourself really does look good. Serious coincidence number two I’m just starting the gym. Getting back to aerobics myself. Thank you. God bless.💕
You are so much fun to watch. You remind me of me. I’m a diy-er , and I did pail watts’ bangs cut 2 week/ ago.. I like it and think it will be better next time. Keep on doing these vids! They’re a fun take on these diy haircut videos. You have a darling personality. You made me laugh out loud several times. And your hair turned out well, imho. Young and fresh hairdo just like your cute personality.
I take a strip of hair in the middle (like between your eyebrows) about an inch across from the front of your scalp to the back of the crown. That always gives me the extra lift I want. My my first time to see you today. I cut my hair all the time!
I think I liked the butterfly better. Your hair looked beautiful when you git through. This is pretty too, but I like the longer length. I wouldn't go shorter. God bless you for taking time to do your videos. Thank you.
😅😂 you crack me up! Because I could just see me doing it to myself, it would be a hot mess. One thing for sure you're entertaining. Plus, you're not afraid to experiment right there and live, lol, on video. You're awesome. I love the color of your hair, I need to try your hair routine.
It looks really good 👍. I wore a shag in the 70s and 80s and I love em. My mama used to cut ✂️ our hair, I sister and 4 brother's. She did a good job and never went to beauty school, she just eye balled it, turned out good everytime. Newbie here
You are a hoot!! I just had to subscribe so I could enjoy more of your humor. Your hair turned out great! I also watched the Butterfly Cut video and that method seems so much easier. If you do anything, that would be the way to go, for touch-ups. See you on the next video. 😘 I enjoyed visiting!
We have been using the rubber band method since the 70’s to get the lions mane or the shag, both pretty much the same cut. But instead of three ponytails you can also take all of your hair and brush it to the top of your head and put it in the ponytail then cut it. And if after you do this cut if you want more layers at the top if it’s too thick then do the top of the head “V” cut ponytail….
From one old lady to another, you look awesome! I love your hair, you do a fantastic job with it. You're definitely blessed with a beautiful head of hair. My suggestion is to try a pixie. There are so many different cuts that are fun & easy. If you don't like it, it'll grow back, lol.
I would pull the top and sides straight up in a ponytail and cut whatever you see that's not matching the bangs. You could even cut it in a v. You could even over direct the sides so you keep more length on the sides. I would love to get my sheers in your hair lol. You have perfect waves and texture to work with!
Try making it super straight just to see how it falls..... Its really beautiful as is... Its a playful cut and you have perfect natural curl and body also i think you could use product and also wear it scrunchy beachy hair too ... You are Beautiful a true Joy to watch thank for Sharing!!!!! 🎉❤🎉
Actually I think another go at the top would work really well, nothing drastic just another go. The rest is just right and suits you very well. I'm a 65 year old gal from the UK and have done Brad Mondo's butterfly a couple of times but I'm taking inspiration from you and will try the shag . Mine is a bit straighter but I love it all messy too. Thanks for the inspo.😊❤❤
I love your hair. I think it looks great! Try doing a unicorn cut. It's easy to do yourself and it will put layers all over. Maybe it will help make the top shorter. I've done this cut on myself many times and have been happy with it.
You can cut straight on the ponytails with it wet, then once your hair is dry, and blown out straight, do the sections again, and use the thinning sheers at the ends of each ponytail. Take it down and wet it again to style it the way you like to do it. You have great hair.
I have exactly the same wavy hair .I'm constantly messing with it..I did your butterfly cut ..love it... wanna do this shag.thanks you for sharing,.I'm glad I found you..
Our hair has a lot in common. I’ve been needing a haircut for so so long. Oh my gosh! I think I’m going to do the butterfly like you did in the last video. I think it looks great on you and I understand I think the tops a little too heavy also and I have that feeling even when I go to the salon anytime soon. We’re pretty sick up there. I guess we should be thankful lol I’ve been chopping on mine for a couple years now and it looks like I’ve been chopping on it so time to fix it and if I can’t fix it, I have to go to my hairstylist but that’s OK. I’d really rather do it at home though actually so I’m excited to see what you’re doing now! Good luck! ☘️
... please post the updated pic AFTER you recut! Honestly, first off, think you're worried about "looking" at the camera while cutting, NOooo! Do it and don't worry about your audience! Second, stop with being so "OCD" on the amount of hair you're cutting! That's why not enough is coming off each time. Just my honest opinion... your hair is beautiful BTW 😍
You are blessed with thick hair. I like both cuts you did. The butterfly is my favorite. I did it once and just didn't like the layers so I let it grow back out to all one length. Then I do the face framing thing. I have been cutting my own hair with the help of my husband on the back of my hair with a 'tool.' I may do the butterfly cut again sometime. I like it long enough for a ponytail.
You ARE gorgeous! I was saying to myself, is she beautiful or gorgeous??? Naw, not just beautiful…. Your hair & eyes!! And you seem naturally funny. Look forward to more videos! God bless you. 🙏🏻💞🙏🏻
I Love it! You looked great in the butterfly cut, as well. I like you, have thick hair and want a lot of volume on the crown. You've got great hair and I appreciate seeing what a good outcome you can achieve, cutting it yourself.❤TY
Just came across your videos. I'm a home hair hacker and I'm constantly looking for ideas and tutorials. Really like your style...so I'm going to try the butterfly cut. You have lovely hair btw X
Yes the top needs to be shorter. By just cutting length off the sides and back doesn’t blend in with the top. I would cut on an angle, measure on top of the ponytail the length you cut the top then angle to the longer length cutting at an angle. Now it will blend in perfectly. Love your videos..
You are so brave. 😬 I watched your last diy cut and loved the result, this one too! You do a great job. I’m like you, I tell the stylist ‘shorter layers on top’ ….. ‘nope still not short enough, cut it more’
I think it looks great I watched the video of the butterfly cut and you have got a beautiful head of hair so I subscribed to your channel because I enjoy watching and also learning something new from watching you
I remember doing the shag cut back in my school days the 70s yea we did them in layers starting at the top down the back with multiple ponytails crude but it worked lol you have beautiful hair.
I Love Paul Watts videos. I have a heart condition and find the secrioning tiring, but the results are awesome. You look great, and hair always shrinks when it dries. Paul is always rethinking the sections. If your face frame is right, leave it out of your sections. Blending is just cutting cutting off points where you see heaviness.
I love it! I did the butterfly a few weeks ago and I messed it up. I have been tweaking it here and there, but I think I'm going to go to a hair dresser and hoping they can perfect it.
I think it looks GOOD! I believe the point cutting is just so it doesn't look so blunt from cutting straight across. I have a hardtime point cutting as well! Maybe another inch off the top and leave everything else. My hair gets too heavy on top and lacks OOMPH when it gets too long on top! I need the crown portion shorter.
New viewer here - when I find a new channel I always look at their older stuff to get to know them. It’s amazing how much younger you look with your gray hair and side swept bangs. I also cut my own hair.
I love your hair any way it's done. I will say though, this time it looks exactly how mine ends up every time I leave the salon and I always feel like I have these big dog-ears hanging on the sides. They never give enough layers and I think that's what you're looking for too. Btw, thank you for experimenting on your beautiful hair so I can choose a cut. 🤪
So much fun!! This would never fly with very straight hair! Any little mistake would show so much! Your wavy hair is great for this kind of DIY. My husband’s hair is a little similar and I cut his hair ….the wave makes it so “forgiving”.
This was the first time I’ve seen a video of yours. I subscribed so I can see more 😊 I brush all my hair into a ponytail on top of my head. Then I pull my ponytail straight up and cut straight across. It makes perfect layers. The amount I cut off is determined by how long I want the top layers to be. It’s so easy and quick. I read long ago that this was how to get the Farrah Faucet look. I now cut it shorter than Farrah Faucet layers were so long ago do to the great aging process (lol)! I just wish I had your thick beautiful hair. You’re a hoot! God bless you also!
Fawcett was her surname. Isn't it lovely that all of us of an age that watched the original Charlie's Angels & can remember the programme theme tune, all think fondly of this cut. Nice way to remember Farrah 4 sure. My hairdresser has gone rent a chair so put prices up again - 3rd in 9 months so I'm now thinking I'm going buy a comb & scissors & have a go at cut mine then just pay 4 her to do my colour. So u put the pony tail right up on apex of head lifting it vertically up then u cut horizontally - my arms may not manage (so I may have tip head upside down to reach to do the cut bit).
Came across your channel and i have to say your gorgeous. I really envy you your hair it looks amazing it might not be what you were envisioning but it looks fantastic. I have Lupus and my hair is so much thinner. A lot fell out after my hip replacement and my total knee replacement. Your hair is thick and healthy and lets just envy the color.❤❤❤
❤You are too cute for words! Thank you for posting yr cutting process; now my mom knows she is not alone in her experiences with cutting/styling her hair. And using her phone camera! Lol! 😂😂❤
I think you’re awesome, courageous, very funny and beautiful. I think your hair looks great. but you got to do what you got to do to make you happy. Keep it up!
I loved the butterfly cut on you. I saw some videos where your hair was dark and need to tell you that your gray hair really makes you so much more gorgeous. You've really had a glowup as the beauty guru's and influences say.
You have great hair! I watched the butterfly video and it gave me the nerve to try it and im so glad I did. Im on the same journey with the hair and weight-loss, so know you're not alone 😊
I watched your butterfly cut video. You have great hair lots of body. The shaggy hair cut looks great too. I'm no hair dresser just a fellow old lady who cuts her own hair as well. Great job with the hair cuts. The shag looks like a shaggy you a fantastic job!😊
You have beautiful hair. I am 70+ and have thick wavy gray hair, but I like my hair in a French curly bob. I watched the butterfly cut, and you are adorable 😅😊
Love your hair and I love that cut on you. I started doing these ‘elastic’ cuts after Covid. My problem is that my hair is stating to thin on top so I’m very envious of your thick hair.
I am a hairdresser of 35 years and lady you have gorgeous hair! I think it’s great!
Oh thank you!
@@laineydejohn , yes she does !

Thank you for the advice. I'm going to give it a try!
Don’t use thinning shears on curly hair? Crap! No one ever told me that! Wahhhh. I look like a labradoodle now!
Would love for you to do a video showing what you mean . I can’t picture it
Thank you so much for the tip
What a beautiful head of hair.
It looks fine, you need to put some products in it
You are so blessed to have thick hair. And the natural curls, the ability to just dry it and have it look gorgeous is just such a blessing. It is beautiful and you've done a great job. Hello, you look beautiful, you see that it may not turn out as you thought, but you look great, the wavy of your hair is beautiful so you look great
She isssss gorgeous❤❤❤
Hold your back hair to match the top measure before you cut

Do you mean you cut the back ponytail all the way down to 1 inch length at the crown?
Instead of point cutting the ends you can just use the thinning shears repeatedly at the very end of the pony to soften and refine the edges. You probably want the "wolf cut"
Suggest WOLF cut
It's a stunningly beautiful mess that's for sure. You are so pretty! And your hair texture is what i would kill for! Nice!

I will continue to make videos as the ideas strike me..😅 just need to be struck is all😅
I take a strip of hair in the middle (like between your eyebrows) about an inch across from the front of your scalp to the back of the crown. That always gives me the extra lift I want.
My my first time to see you today. I cut my hair all the time!

I love your sense of humor. And yes it is so very hard to cut your own hair. I laughed because I went through the same difficulties. Thank you.
@felicevincelette6756 well..if u can't laugh..what's left?😂
I legit look like a labradoodle ! I have wavy curly hair and it dried air dry. No bueno. Wahhh but this woman looks great!
It looks really good 👍. I wore a shag in the 70s and 80s and I love em. My mama used to cut ✂️ our hair, I sister and 4 brother's. She did a good job and never went to beauty school, she just eye balled it, turned out good everytime. Newbie here
It actually looks very nice! I love it just as is! Great job! You’re beautiful!
Your hair is beautiful! You look really pretty with silver hair and I think the cut looks nice on you.

Hi. I think your hair looks gorgeous, the color and the cut. You did a great job. ❤
Your hair is gorgeous, it’s so nice and thick and silver, very pretty
You are very funny and natural. Brightened up my evening.
I think it looks really lovely. It's a flattering length.😸
Thank you..good luck with the ✂️
Aloha from North Shore, O’ahu! I think it looks beautiful! If I only had your hair and looks!! You are so full of personality too! I love your videos!
Both haircuts look cool! I'm about to cut my hair too, for the 3rd time on my own. It's an exciting, pretty adictive new hobby! 😂
Right? Who needs stylists anymore 😅🤣😅
... absolutely, especially with the prices lately 😮
I love your hair. I think it looks great! Try doing a unicorn cut. It's easy to do yourself and it will put layers all over. Maybe it will help make the top shorter. I've done this cut on myself many times and have been happy with it.
It’s hard to mess up a cut with that hair. Beautiful 😊
I love your cut it looks perfect.I did your butterfly cut and I took a little to much off the sides. You can always take a little more off.🙂
You are gorgeous, love what you do. What a character. Don't change ever. ❤❤❤❤
You can cut straight on the ponytails with it wet, then once your hair is dry, and blown out straight, do the sections again, and use the thinning sheers at the ends of each ponytail. Take it down and wet it again to style it the way you like to do it. You have great hair.
I like it! The legnth is great. I understand how you think the top is heavy. I don't know how to fix that!! Your hair is fabulous!
Good luck! ☘️
I couldnt wait to watch this one, I can never gat anyone, at salons to cut the shag! I love it!
It would have turned out better if my top wasn't already cut 😊
I think it looks absolutely gorgeous! I used to have a cosmetology license for yrs. Your hair looks great! Wish mine was that thick and full of body
Thanks so.much
Wear this for a week go from there. You look great right now.
Took more off after this..lol
... please post the updated pic AFTER you recut!
It looks great on you! Such an amazing colour. Glad you popped up! I love your personality. ❤
Looks great ! Thanks for sharing you are brave!
Just came across your videos. I'm a home hair hacker and I'm constantly looking for ideas and tutorials. Really like your style...so I'm going to try the butterfly cut. You have lovely hair btw X
Welcome
Yes the top needs to be shorter.
By just cutting length off the sides and back doesn’t blend in with the top. I would cut on an angle, measure on top of the ponytail the length you cut the top then angle to the longer length cutting at an angle. Now it will blend in perfectly.
Love your videos..
You are so brave. 😬 I watched your last diy cut and loved the result, this one too! You do a great job. I’m like you, I tell the stylist ‘shorter layers on top’ ….. ‘nope still not short enough, cut it more’
"Brave" or idiotic? That is the question 😂
Your so lucky. You have beautiful hair. I think you did a fantastic job
You're funny, you make my day 😂 I love watching. 🥰
I really like what you did! You have beautiful hair to work with.
Paul Watts is excellent. I learn something new whether I'm interested in doing that cut or not.
I love it!
I did the butterfly a few weeks ago and I messed it up. I have been tweaking it here and there, but I think I'm going to go to a hair dresser and hoping they can perfect it.
It looks PERFECT!!! And doesn't look like a fresh cut. I need to go back & see the before!!!
I really enjoy watching your videos, you are amazing!!! 😊❤
You really did great I didn't really see the first cut but I really like this cut on you it looks fantastic
Top looks great. Seems to be too much length, for general balance. Nice hair.
You are brave and rightfully so. It seems like you can't mess your beautiful hair up. Good for you.
What a beautiful head of hair you have! I have the same color…but my hair is very fine. Loved the way you cut it…looks great!❤
I think it looks great! Envy your thick hair with a bit of its own curl! Well done!
You did a terrific job I like it just as it is 😊
I think it looks GOOD!
It looks lovely.
My hair is too thin to do anythinf with.
I've watched you do the butterfly cut, and now this... You are just adorable! and your hair is beautiful!
So sweet of u to say..
Beautiful woman you are amazing...I love your courage and punky moxie...you did a great job. I like the butterfly and your shag.
You're so pretty!!! And your hair is the most beautiful color ever ❤
New viewer here - when I find a new channel I always look at their older stuff to get to know them. It’s amazing how much younger you look with your gray hair and side swept bangs. I also cut my own hair.
You're the 2nd person to say that❤
I think it’s beautiful! I love how you just do and don’t worry about it!!
Watching u again 😅. Yes dear just hair will grow back. You still got stunning hair 😊Good job. See u soon😊
So much fun!! This would never fly with very straight hair! Any little mistake would show so much! Your wavy hair is great for this kind of DIY. My husband’s hair is a little similar and I cut his hair ….the wave makes it so “forgiving”.
So many of us silver foxes look awesome with cute little ponytails. Simplicity is beautiful.❤
😮"cute "?
I looked silly😅
@@laineydejohn Silly is cute...in these times to retain humour is how to do it. Thank you for sharing your cutting techniques.
Welcome to the 😵💫 crew..thanks for joining me on fun
Amazing hair ..I agree with the other comment use the thinning shear of the top part .❤
Right!!
I love it! New subscriber here from Ga. I absolutely love your bed!! Can't wait to see more videos. Much love from Grandma Dedra in Ga. 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
I love your hair. You did great
I watched your butterfly cut video. You have great hair lots of body. The shaggy hair cut looks great too. I'm no hair dresser just a fellow old lady who cuts her own hair as well. Great job with the hair cuts. The shag looks like a shaggy you a fantastic job!😊
I’m an old hair dresser…I love it the way you just did it. I even watched you do the butterfly cut too.
Love your hair! Thanks for showing us these ideas. I'm always trying to explain what kind of cut I want... it's the butterfly cut❤
You have such gorgeous hair & you look fabulous! 🥰
I really liked the butterfly cut - this looks good too but I'm with you, the sides/back could be shorter! Keep us updated!!
I tried cutting more off length
I think you are right about one more inch off the length the top turned out really good I think.
